whoareyou? 0 Posted January 9, 2010 How the hell did that idiot earn a £100k pay off? He is primarily responsible for the demise of this club and he gets rewarded for it!!!What a stupid world we live in!

whoareyou? 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Contract or not, it''s totally wrong to reward someone for failure. Is it any wonder the whole world is broke?
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted January 9, 2010 It''s not a reward is it? It isn''t like a bonus, but it is what was due to him under his contract. Unless his contracted stated something like "if we get relegated your contract will be terminated" then we have to pay him off. Simple employment law really. Matt Morriss 69 Posted January 9, 2010 Ill never understand why football clubs dont protect themselves. Managers always always get pay offs when there sacked, and players get pay offs if contracts get terminated.Surely every club should have a clause in the contract automatically that if targets arent met then termination will arise and no payoff will be due. In the normal world of work has anyone ever been sacked cause they were underperforming in the job, and then received a nice payoff?

How contradictory is it? Were gonna beambitious and strive for success, but we will hold back a bit and notreally go for it 100%.Winners do whatever it takes, andclubs take gambles to win. We never did anything like that and lookwhere we are. Prudence with spending yes, but Ambition should beunreservedly embraced and undertaken.

All managers know that they will be sacked after a few years so make sure it is in their contracts, I actually think the LMA make it standard. To be honest, you should never be fired from work for not "under-performing" that is actually illegal unless it is specifically written into your contract. You can be sacked for more serious issues, but unless Jamie is stealing from the tills or looking up porn at Colney it would be hard to sack him for breach of contract, he is still able to play football, just not very well. This is like half the people I work with, they are able, just not very good at their jobs - but that is the companies fault for employing them.If you make contracts to strict, players/managers will go to other clubs who offer easier terms.
