First Wizard 0 Posted February 4, 2009 I never wanted Bryan Gunn as manager, few of us did, but boy, is he ticking a few boxes now.Example:Jamie comes off the pitch at Wolves, head bowed and dejected, what does Gunn do? turn his back a la Roeder? does he heck, he puts a consoling arm around the player and has a quite word of support. That''ll do for me, he actually cares about the players.I''m sorry Gunny, I was very wrong. CanaryJames 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Fair play for coming out and admitting your wrong :)I too doubted Gunn, but so far he''s done a superb job. Last night was as good as the 5-2 simply.Hope he can keep it up.

ricky knight 0 Posted February 4, 2009 I am a Gunn sceptic but i am pleased with the way he has started especially last nights result and performance, there is a long way to go, i still think the board have pulled a flanker but i am a;lways prepared to be proven wrong and hope Gunny is a great success. Unhinged Canary 375 Posted February 4, 2009 I''m with you on this one Wiz. It''s the whole ''feel-good'' vibe there seems to be at the club now. After last night, Gunn spoke of how proud he was of his players, and what a good result it was. Roeder would have given his usual speech about ''2-points'' dropped, ''should have won the game'', ''missed chances'', ''sloppy goals'' etc etc.....I''ll admit, I wasn''t overjoyed at the new team, but it seems that passion more than makes up for experience! Long may it continue! [Y]OTBC

Gunn will eventually do the same IMO, although I really do hope that Jamie can find his confidence .
blahblahblah 2 Posted February 4, 2009 It seems that the difference between Gunns'' squad and Roeders is that the players aren''t scared to deviate from the program given to them by the management. Over-management of the players did for Grant previously, and I guess it did for Roeder too - the players just seemed to give up trying to do what they was asked of them in the end. When we beat Barnsley 4-0, Gunn seemed to say them "go out and play your game". Now that they''ve taken an away point at Wolves, they''ve proven that if they play without fear, then they have no-one to fear in this league.I''m sure we all hope that our current form continues, and if it does, that Gunn and team are given the job for next season. Gonzo 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Did you really think it would have been any different though? The team needed motivating in the right way - and he was, sorry is, ideal.

I never had Gunn down as a possible manager for us until he stepped up for the Barnsley game. Since then however I would say that I''ve been 100% behind the guy (and thats not all down to one hell of a celebration after Barnsley).

Grant & Roeder also started well in their managerial careers here and looked what happened there?!Good for us all to be optimistic once again although there is a massive job still to be completed, and is Gunn the man to lead us forward once again? - only time will tell......... I felt a little under whelmed when Gunny was appointed, but I think (so far) he’s just what we need to inject a bit of passion into the team. I suppose a lot of fans were not too impressed with the Stringer or Walker appointment back in the day, and they proved a lot of people wrong !

Canary02 III 0 Posted February 4, 2009 He''s not a Mourinho or Ferguson style tactical genius, but then neither was Brian Clough and he did alright. If Gunny can keep smiling and be relaxed the Cult of Personality can go a long way.
whoareyou? 0 Posted February 4, 2009 I get the impression that Gunny is taking his management style from Mike Walker. Quiet but passionate about winning, motivational and astute. When Walker and Deehan worked together it was like a dream team partnership, let''s hope Butterworth and Crooky with Gunn is the same thing.
