Penalties

Have noticed that we have conceded 2 penalties in our first two league matches. Nothing new there but it has got me thinking........

I cant actually remember the last time our GK actually saved a penalty? I remember Green had a miserable record. Has Marshall ever saved a pen for Norwich? I cant think of one. I know he saved a Ronaldiniho pen at Celtic! 

Norwich surely must have the worst penalty saving ratio in the world over recent years??

Marshall saved Hoolahan''s penalty for Blackpool last season. Which is more than Green ever managed.

He saved one (some?) in the carling cup shoot out last season I think?? But from open play the last one I can remember is Gunn saving a Dean Saunders penalty v''s Derby in the early to mid 90''s. I believe he didn''t dive and just stood still.

Heres a Teaser for you! who was the last Norwich Goalkeeper to save a penalty at Carrow road?

something tells me Andy Marshall....

I can remember Gunny saving against Leeds in 1994-95.

Im convinced Andy Marshall saved one.. something tells me against Either Stoke, Sunderland or Sheffield utd.. it was a team in red stripes.... might of been Cheltenham in the league cup?

Hmmm, was it Gunny against Millwall in the Zenith Data systems trophy shoot out in about 1992? I think that''s the only penalty shoot out ever at CR too.

Norwich had a penalty shoot-out against Swindon I think and we won, and I am sure Ian culverhouse scored, I might be dreaming this or getting my facts muddled up mind. Actually, I think I might be confusing games, now where are my tablets?

Remember Coventry missing a penalty against us at Highfield road, I think it was a big beared bloke and Gunn was sent off, the penalty taker actually missed the goal altogether, rather embrassing since in the goal was pint sized Mark Bowen in a goalie shirt 6 sizes too big for him.

Southampton away August 20, 2005.

Green saved a spot-kick as he dived away to his left to palm Nigel Quashie''s penalty wide. It counted for nothing, however, as referee Probert pointed to the spot again for encroachment - Norwich''s anger stemming from the fact that it was a Southampton player who was clearly guilty of encroaching rather than anyone in a green City shirt.

we had a penalty shoout out against Bolton in 1998 and lost 4-2 this was a year after beating them away in a shoot out.. Bellamy and Fuglestadt both missed.. Iwan Roberts and Craig Fleming scored from the spot i think... this might of been where Marshalls save fame from

So our keeper has only actually saved 1 penalty inside 90 mins of play in the last 6 seasons? Marshall saving from Hoolahan. That is quite frankly shocking.

I remember Gunny saving a fair few in the 95-96 season. But since Gunny I have come to expect that when the opposition get a pen, we are in trouble.

poor defenders who have poor technique.. they are good in the air but their reading of the game is, im afraid to say, shocking! People say we have a decent defence this season.. im yet to be convinved.. they might be good footballers but techinque wise they are sh*t!
