Have heard from more than one reliable source that hes on hes way back for a season on loan, i hope this is true because he really did shine when on loan before, he just needs a good back four around him and with Marshall now signed the look of the back four is beginning to look more solid,we could even add Unsworth as extra competition or if both fail then how about Cahill of Villa? looked very good when he played at carrow road for the u-21s and wont be a regular for villa? any thoughts?

UMMMM i wouldn''t say he shined he was ok but we conceaded just as many goals with him in the tean than without ,you have to ask why has no prem team snapped him up ,over hyped i''m afraid.

Callum would be a good signing alongside Shacks. I do wonder if we will end up with some of Charlton Athletics throwaways which Pardew may have mentioned to his old number two. Kevin Lisbie etc.

Right, if we got Callum in, I''m gonna be bursting! We''ve starting to get the makings of a good squad - another addition of his quality will be really exciting, even if it is only on loan.

Anyway - we all know Grant is looking at many players, having got so many players out of the blue. We''ve 2 months left, got loads of money (in comparision with most of the division - lets be honest - we only look at the top guys in comparision and lament, but most of the division is way poorer than us) and there are still free transfer gems around.

And if we''re all buzzing again, players like Hucks, Dion, Shacks, Safri, i.e. our top players; they must be looking forward to this season, too.

a decent squad player, and one that will get better I think, however, he is no leader at the moment and that is what we need in defence right now. But believe we are a couple of players off a good squad.

Dav would be an awsome signing, he''s twice the speed of  ''Doc'' and he can pass and head the ball well. He could well be a vital link in the squad................and most of us have already seen him play!.[;)]

Is he that good? I admit he did look better than his fellow defenders while he was here but did he make any difference to the number of goals being conceeded? On top of that he wont come cheap.

I think it would be a years loan deal Northern, so yes, wages would be high but well worth it in the long run.......look at Crouch and Hucks........and that worked out well.

I''d be very happy to see Davenport here alongside Shackell. Would give us Shackell, Doherty, Davenport and Dublin for those two positions plus I believe Ostemober can cover there too.

I would definitely like Davenport in, in fact there are a number of CBs we could go for at West Ham.

But I really want us to look at permanent signings rather than season-long loans. It''s frustrating if we''re simply bringing on players for other teams (nothing wrong with us doing it to others though of course)

We could & should''ve sealed the services of Davenport last summer.

If he doesn''t stay in the Premiership with Derby, he''ll likely go to Leicester, Coventry or Wolves.

he would defenitly make our defence more solid and with a better goalie in Marshall and Brellier just in front this would mean we would concede considerably less than we did last year

I generally liked what I saw of Davenport when he was on loan to us. If we can get him on a permanent deal, possibly as a regular centre half alongside Shackell, he could be one of those players who could prove to be too good for the Championship but not quite good enough for the Premiership.

And it would also probably mean 20-year-old Academy product Matthew Halliday being loaned out as a result.

What do others think?

That isn''t saying a lot though is it. Delia is probably quicker than Doc!!!

We do need another centre back but he is no better than we already have IMO. 

The only defender he outperformed when he was here two years ago was Flem which says nothing.   Both shacks and doc performed better and far more consistently, they were better passers (even Shax!) better in the air, and stronger in the tackle. 

If we are to spend £1m on a defender I would prefer someone who may prove to be better,  callum simply wont.  However oif the price lower he will do a decent job at this level and woudl boost teh squad excellently;   but one thing he is not is a leader or a level above our current players.

But yet good enough for spurs and WHU at times last yr.....I for one would welcome him, he''s better than Shacks, but the pair would be to inexperienced to play together......
