Hartsons Gut 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Im afraid that he has been a passenger now for far to long and doesnt seem to get stuck in like he once did. The year that we got promoted i think he was one of our best players and always gave it his best shot, but my patience has now gone. What is wrong with him? i just cant understand it. Does anyone know how long he has on his contract? Who else thinks that Mcveigh should be loaned out or sold?
Salopian 1 Posted January 16, 2007 Sadly, you are right. He is a shadow of the player he was. Has he gained weight and lost fitness, or has he just lost heart? Being in and out, mostly out, of the side clearly does not motivate a player. Or, having got accross Worthington, is he just a rebel seeing his time out? I can''t believe that PG, who seems to have an encouraging word with most players, has given up on him - he can''t afford to with such a small squad! If you have the skills he has, these skills are not lost but merely temporarily rusty through not playing. PhatCanary 0 Posted January 16, 2007 He left two seasons ago and was replaced by an overweight, lazy, lookalike who can''t play football!!

His skill, vision, Ability on the ball would of made him handy in any Premiership side.jas :)
Marty 0 Posted January 16, 2007 a decent player in the past, probably could and should have done better. Shame to see his poor recent displays because I would imagine he still gets paid fair amount of money, so where is the effort?
Baldyboy 1 Posted January 16, 2007 i e mailed this question amongst others to doncaster on saturday. the reply i got was when his contract expires unless it is renegotiated, along with a few others. i pray grant will see sense and not renew the contract. I think he might only have another year left. Doomcaster never answers the question and always finds a way around it
7rew 0 Posted January 16, 2007 if when his current contract ends is the answer, is it worth offering apay rise for a shorter contract length? its a trick i have seenused sucessfully on champs manager type games. - Just an idea however.Probably wont happen. If it came out WLY was offered more money there would be a riot.
Anderz 0 Posted January 16, 2007 His hunger and desire seems to have waned and died. In truth, he appears to have been off the boil for quite some time and I reckon that had our squad had a meatier look to it, he would have been sold/released by now. He''s only here offering squad depth, and once that''s established, he''ll be out the door fairly sharpish. Shame as he was quite a good player, but has largely contributed to his own downfall. Similar in respects to Mulryne.
CambridgeCanary 0 Posted January 16, 2007 What we see here is another consequence of Worthy''s poor management. It is clear that two seasons of being ostracised by Worthy have damaged WLY''s confidence and/or desire. It was a thinly veiled secret that he wanted away last season and he was messed around whilst much lesser players were given shirts for life.It may be that he gave up and can''t be arsed. I don''t know. Many posters have complained that too many players are in a comfort zone and know they will be not be dropped however poorly they do. That has been a real problem since promotion and we saw it with Flem, Holt and Edworthy in the Prem ( golden days compared with now.....at least then, more than half the team were selected on merit!!!!!). The flip side is what happens to the unfavoured; those who do not get a fair chance however well they do. In my view, it is not coincidence that WLY, Jarvis and Henderson are where they are today. Perhaps they were never going to make it anyway. Personally, I think they were up to it at least as squad players but truth is, we willl never know either way. However, the corrosive effect of not being in Worthy''s magic circle has damaged them all. Instead of two, perhaps even three good squad players, we have three shirts soon to be filled by others because the current holders are no longer able to hold them.It really is hard to see why the Board sat back for so long! Stevie Wonder 0 Posted January 16, 2007 I think he is out of contract at the end of this season. If I recall correctly, he was more of a bit part player in the year we were promoted. Certainly after Christmas he was less regular as Hux switched to the left and Hendo/Mulryne/Cooper tended to play on the right. It is a shame because he has all the talent but apart from a brief 10 game spell round Xmas last year he has done very little to earn his wages for a long time. After his nemesis Worthy goes what does the tool do but get himself sent off in injury time against Cardiff and misses 3 key games (games that Hux & Earnie were both absent for or at least partly). Great way to impress your new manager.I''m sorry but we should get rid now for a small fee if we can. He needs a greater come back than Lazarus to get another contract!!
