Tom NCFC 0 Posted July 4, 2006 When I read this on the teletext i was suprised. I mean retiring at 29 is wierd because it''s so young for a football. Ol'' Teddy still going at 40. Nakata had no injury problems and loads of clubs were interested in him so why give it up. It makes me wonder how dedicated some players are to the game! Herb 0 Posted July 4, 2006
It makes me wonder how dedicated some players are to the game!
On the money top level players earn these days, retiring at 29 is probably very feasable, even if you didn''t want to work another day of your life.Maybe he just couldn''t be arsed anymore :)
Syteanric 1 Posted July 4, 2006 He''s the David Beckham of Japaenese football so i imagine all the other contracts he gets over there are more appealing to him.jas :)
A Load of Squit 6,260 Posted July 4, 2006 This quote from Mr N is from football365"There has been no one specific event or reason as to why I have reached this decision, but I simply felt the time had come to take leave from this journey which is called professional football and I wanted to start a new journey which will allow me to discover a new world." I''m sure thats answered your question fully!

ZLF 335 Posted July 4, 2006 Which of use doesnt want to have enough cash to be able to retire early? If thats where he is at I salute the courage of his convictions rather than taking easy wages from a club when his heart is not in it.If only more footballers had that honesty. DisorientatedCanary 0 Posted July 5, 2006 like you all say with the money he''s on and i imagine a massive amount of home sickness/missing family why not do it if you can???. tbh i dont blame him, i assume he saw out his contract and just decided to go home, which is fair enough. Temp the Revelator 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Has no-one else ever decided to have a change of career then? I know I have - back in 2002 I left the RAF after 13 years to take up a new career. Sometimes it''s just what feels right for the individual - maybe Nakata never really enjoyed his job (as difficult as that may be for us to believe). Also, he wasn''t getting regular games at Bolton - maybe he wants to go out at the top.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 5, 2006 I''ve given up my job after 5 years and am going to university in September for 4 years at the age of 24.Although 29 may be "old" in football terms, he''s still young enough topursue whatever career he wants, so fair play to him for being braveenough to make such a life-changing decision before he really had to.
