First game, best season and view of NW

Recommended Posts

NW has kicked up a big fuss with his words of "true fans".

For the record, what was the first Norwich game you''ve attended (time served), your best season and if you support NW or not?

Mine? 1982 v Leyton Orient on my birthday - won 2-0. Supported before then but that was the day I lost the cherry as to speak. Season ticker holder for many seasons since then and now and still insane to renew.

Best season was Mike Walkers first season in charge.

And no, I don''t support him!

First Game: Southampton 3 Norwich 0.

Came to UEA cos I supported Norwich, my best season, close one, the european adventure tied with the promotion season.

And I am a true fan cos I stayed behind!!  Not like you other fairweather fan posters!!!

My first game was when I was 8 a 3-0 home defeat to Man U.  I went a few times with my Dad after that but I really feel in love with City when I was 10 at a 2-1 home win against West Ham.  "Disco" scored both goals and I believe it was the first (and maybe only) time he scored two in a match for City.  I was a ball boy and met Dave Stringer and all the players.  I still have the certifiate they gave me and the autographs of all the players.  I also have Billy Bonds chewing gum that I stole from the dugout at half time.

Best season has to be Walkers second, his first was great but playing in Europe for the first time and beating the likes of Bayern was amazing.

My views about Worthington can be summed up in one word, "Stale".

Sad to say I cant actually recall what my first game was - typical of a non true fan [;)]- I would have been 8/9, in mid 70s stood on the river end terrace on a milk crate - can recall seeing the Man U barclay roof incident but that was not my first game.

Mine was a 2-2 draw with Arsenal. 1989 I think it was. Been a season ticket holder ever since.

Best season is a toss-up between the season we finished 3rd in the Prem (the 3-1 win over Forest to go top of the league stands out in my mind) and of course the promotion season.

I''m giving Worthington ''till October to turn us into a winning team again. If we''re not challenging for automatic promotion by then it''s time for him to leave.

I stayed behind for the lap of honour - because I''m a true fan [A]

Ooops - forgot the latter bits;  People know my views on Worthy (Apprciate where you have take us but you have past you sell by date) but the best season was definitely finishing 3rd in the prem and finally getting into Europe having qualified twice before and not been allowed to play (hence my liverpool hatred)

First game (I can remember) was losing at home to Burnley 3-1 when they had already been relegated I think, so that was pretty low - can anyone remember which season this was please? - sometime in the 70s but really young so can''t remember myself. First game I can remember in detail was the league cup final at Wembley which we also lost to Villa - and my Dad has pretended to support Villa ever since!

Best season would probably have to be the European one, though the season that we qualified for that pushes it quite close as does the recent Championship season with the excitement of Hucks etc.

No, I don''t support him at the moment but if he started to make the recent results a more consistent occurence I probably would.

Fairweather fan here..........

First game - April 1984, aged 9, Norwich 6 Watford 1 (Deehan got 4 - bless Steve Sherwood!!!)

Best Season - for me its the 93/94 in Europe and all that

Opinion of Worthy - Many thanks for 3 great Championship years, and a season full of hope in the Prem, however, this season has be one too many, we appreciate the time you''ve put into the club, but it is now up, please step down and move along. A new approach is needed, let the rebuild begin......

oh yeah view on worthington - as Siant said I feel he has gone stale, passed his sell by date and is making far too many managerial errors which not only has us not challenging for the play-offs but is costing the club extremely valuable money.

First Game: Norwich Vs Southampton, September 1988, I had just turned 6 years old. I remember being perched on thos rails in the River End being quite scared and at the same time embarrassed by my dads singing. The game finished 1-1 with Fleck getting the city goal and I believe Danny Wallace scored for Saints. What I remember most is that Andy Townsend swallowed his tongue and I believe it was his debut having signed from the saints! Have been a season ticket holder ever since but I guess I am still not a true fan according to our beloved manager!

Best Season: Has to be Mike Walkers first season: What it would be to watch that kind of football again. The fact that it was the first season sky were involved and all the razzmataz they injected made it even more special.

Opinion of Worthy: Never been a good manager, simply a lucky one. Hope and pray he is not here come August but I just know he will be. As I have said before, I have had a season ticket ever since the 1989-90 season but this time I have not renewed.

west ham aged 6ish, in 1971-2ish.  didn''t see much, was standing behind 10ft high railings in the old south stand, even though my dad pushed me to the front - where the away supporters are now. stringers side played good enjoyable football to watch for me.  the season where we were leading at xmas was the best.its not personal, but worthy doesn''t cut the mustard for me any longer.   we could have the same old squit next season if we''re not careful and that would be a waste in my view.

First game: 28th January 1967 at home.  Stood in the old South Stand where the away fans go now.  Don''t remember who we played or what the score was, because . . . my second game was at Old Trafford 5th February 1967, FAC4, we won 2-1 (Matt Busby, your boys took a helluva beating).

Best season: 1971/2 promotion, because we''d never done it before, because it proved to be the most important turning point in the club''s history.  And I was part of it.  Lucky me.

Worthy: He can take us further, but only if the board get their act together.

First game: Norwich 0  Newcastle Utd 1 in Feb 1973

Best season: The 2003/4 promotion season without a doubt. We played some exciting football at times and the crowds generated a tremendous atmosphere in most games.

View of NW: He gave us good times for 2 or 3 seasons, but he seems to have lost the plot now, so it''s time to wish him well and say goodbye I''m afraid.
