I do get people might not be a fan of changing the flag but I'm confused about what specifically about this change qualifies as 'woke.' It basically seems like certain colours have been designated by certain people as 'woke' (purple, pink, anything a bit bright) because they are on the pride flag? In the union flag the red comes from the English flag and the blue comes from the Scottish flag. If you mix blue and red, you get purple and lilac, so it's symbolically offensive to nationalists who are resistant to further mixing of the cultural nations. I was quite amused that there’s a market in Kent for Chinese copy Nike England football kits where they’re removing the purple cross and ironing on a red one. The argument made to me is the George cross is red. That’s it. It makes sense when you think about it. Nobody would sod around with the Scottish flag like this.
