The state of judges in this country..

Recommended Posts

This is the same judge. Maybe she listened to the whole case and made her decision based on that. I'm not sure some people on Twitter/X who weren't there during the whole case are the 'go to' people for an opinion.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/nov/09/benjamin-agyemang-jailed-posed-as-model-agent-sexually-exploit-teenage-girls

A man who posed as a modelling agent in order to target and sexually exploit three teenage girls has been jailed for 13-and-a-half years.

Benjamin Agyemang’s offences spanned two decades, with police saying there may be many other victims who are yet to come forward.

A court heard how he would use an alias and target girls aged between 14 and 16. He would offer them work as models before sexually abusing them in his south-east London flat.

Agyemang, 45, was sentenced at Inner London crown court on Thursday, after being found guilty in September. Judge Rosina Cottage KC said: “In my view you are a predator. You used your charisma to target teenage girls for yours and others’ sexual exploitation.”

For a second I thought this was going to be about Shamima Begum, then I saw the author and knew he'd definitely be a "nah, **** her, leave her in Syria" type person.

And you would be right. Why should someone who happily ran off to join one of the most vile, horrific nasty terrorists groups on the Earth and who said she did not regreat it and often saw people getting beheaded and it did not phase her be let back in?

You dig your own grave.. Maybe you should make a thread about it 😉

Possibly because legally she was a groomed child (15) at the time?

Criminal responsibility yes.

Meanwhile the people who created a football matches streaming site got 11 years in jail each.

Indecent images are categorised by police on being found. A, B, C and D. D are usually images involving animals. Where only a small number of those images involved penetration (category A) then a suspended custodial sentence is actually a fairly common outcome. You can look through the EDP and you'll find countless sentences of a similar nature.

This judge would have been advised by probation as to the most effective sentence and heard representations from lawyers both for the prosecution and for the defence.

Now it's totally fine to think this sentence is soft considering the circumstances. But my point is don't blame the judge for doing what is customary in these types of cases. Your gripe is with the legal system which has developed the precedence to make it customary to deal with this type of crime in this manner.

Exactly this re. the bit in bold. If you're complaining about the sentencing, it's rarely the judge. Judges are generally pretty bound to precedent.

Personally, I tend to think jail is overused for some crimes, and underused for others. Not really sure why an illegal football stream site requires jail time when financial punishment strikes me as much more worthwhile. I'd rather keep jail for those who are physical threats to others.

What was that famous quote from Vinnie Jones' character in Lock Stock? Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

We're now in a country where a 15 year old is responsible enough to be banned from the country of her birth for making a decision after being groomed by a vile, horrific, nasty terrorist group but not deemed responsible enough to make a decision on whether to buy a bottle of wine or get a tattoo. Seems sensible.

The same vile nasty terrorist group that takes to the streets to intimidate each weekend, light up the Houses of Parliament with anti-semetic slogans, deface our national monuments that you cheer on. Yeah, we get it.

You have evidence of grooming or did you just read something some time by someone somewhere?

You're genuinely mental. Are you good at any sports? Because there are Paralympic categories for people with low intellectual capacity. Your posts on here would be evidence of eligibility. We could be cheering you on in Paris this summer.

Another good example of the stupidity of our legal system. Much of what she did for Islamic state was as an enthusiastic adult, with the interview to underline it to boot.

I for one am making the most of the remaining time of the evil little b1tch rotting in a camp. It's just a shame more of her compatriots can't fall through the cracks like she did.

Hopefully get suffering has made others think twice of following in her footsteps.

Your posts suggest you shouldn't be allowed around kids. What was the name of that soccer team you coach?

That someone who wants to "make the most" of someone's suffering is a ****ing weirdo capable of some pretty sketchy stuff.

Clear enough, even for someone as limited as you?

Grow up. She did an interview as an adult showing zero remorse until the do gooders got to her coaching her in a campaign to get her back to the UK. She recounted watching executions with indifference. She said she had no regrets. You're absolutely deranged if you think there's any humanity in that little coward. Everything she says now is all about giving idiots like you the ammunition to get her back in the UK.

Just carry on making the most of her suffering you little oddball, in whatever weird form that takes, you don't need to justify it to me; I'm no kink shamer.

What she is experiencing is justice. She deserves to suffer. With any luck she'll die there. Not one penny of tax payer money should be spent on her.

If you don't think she has already then you have a higher opinion than I do of these ISIS ****. Bit weird that, given your posting history. Or are you only cross when it's white people who are victims?

She said herself. She had no regrets about her time with ISIS, so she obviously didn't suffer with ISIS.

15 years old is old enough to know right from wrong, whatever the legal system says. The Bulger killers were younger than her and the legal system had them tried as adults because judges decided they should have known that was wrong on that show regardless of age. Same with her.

She's said she'll regret it forever. Or do you just ignore the bits that don't fit your weird little perspective and cling on to the bits that do?

You're making it quite clear what your attitude is, you have done for a while; your empathy for people and the value you place on them is dictated by their skin tone.

There's a word for that, you know.

The first interview was the truth. Hey only 'regrets' are not being able to get back to the UK now she's no longer having fun with her fundamentalist buddies.

Don't be a coward. Please do say the word that you're suggesting applies  to me so the site moderators can decide if you're right or wrong.

Corrected that for you.

To quote Matthew McConaughey's Jake Tyler Brigance in A Time to Kill, "now imagine she's white".

That's not a correction. What she said the first interview were her own uncoached words answering straight, open questions from a journalist; the truth as she saw it. Everything afterwards was coached PR after the human rights lawyers got on the case of trying to paint her as a victim to get her back into the UK.

So you'll imply it, but too cowardly to actually say it. No wonder you so angrily attack people for not liking ISIS supporters.

Actually let's follow it up: What if she was white? Would that make a young person in a first world country travelling across continents under her own steam to join a sanctioned terrorist religious fundamentalist organisation responsible for countless brutal murders okay in your view?

Let's remember, she went there with two friends who both died trying to get away when they experienced the reality. She didn't. She stuck with it all of the way to the bitter end and even announced her contentedness with the decision at the first opportunity given to her once ISIS had been routed and she was in the camp.
