Historically just never looked comfortable beating a man with his pace. Looked a different player last night, which is probably down to coaching and looks pretty fit. The return of PP is on...potentially

To be fair, part of the problem was that he was up against organised defences sitting very deep - with a small striker in Pukki to aim at. Now we've got a pressing team that look to win the ball high up the pitch, a variety of big units to aim at in the box, and he can start getting moving on overlaps and start attacking spaces against more stretched defences.

I actually want to see him and Rowe down the same side. Rowe looks to cut in and hit one, and indeed did so with effect against Hull - space caused by Stacey haring down his side to keep their full-back pinned so Rowe could turn and cut in. Just needs the ability to keep bombing forward at pace, and that's up his street with his pace and stamina.

The ghost of Xmas past. It’s weird, I just then thought about all those that have come and gone - the aforementioned Bill, TvB, Waveney (plus friends), Morty and TY. I wonder what happens to them and where they go? @Nuff Said you’ve lived through all the above, what do you think?! If nothing else, it’s a great social commentary…

Yes, there is probably a really interesting psychological study to be done in there somewhere. All those you list (apart from TY and Waveney who live amongst us still) just shut up shop one day and disappeared. I wonder what tipped them over the edge, probably Peter the Deleter I guess. But (again Waveney is a little different) there is/was a, shall we say, combative tone to their posts, almost as if they want an argument. I find Mr James often makes decent points but there is a similar tone from them sometimes.

Its just great news that so many players seem to have improved during the close season and now we have reaal competition for places. I assume its the coaching and fitness regime but just might be a change of attitude from the coaching staff and whether its carrot or stick is unimportant.

Why isn't pedantry more popular than it currently is? 😉

Can I just say how disappointing it is that there are no spelling or grammatical errors in your post. ☹️

You missed a pedant's trick there. The "currently" is superfluous.😍

To expand on the pedantic theme, I think technically a Paedotrician would be one who tends to the physical ailments of Kiddie fiddling sc*m rather than the one doing the actual fiddling 🤔. But we digress...

Since we’re on a pedantic roll here, I think technically they are paediatricians but I think we are probably dissecting Corkie’s original post way past the point of no return now.

Edit: do we need a pedants scoreboard perhaps?

As are “You” and “there”: the subject and location were contextually clear

Paediatricians do indeed specialise in children and their diseases.  I was making an admittedly slightly distasteful pun from your original Paedotrician joke.

It never works when you have to explain it though  does it ?

Surest way to kill a joke is to explain it slowly. I guess it helps to know your audience before you start. Plus interpretation is much easier if it’s person to person, reading a joke online is very different.
