Interesting article on Luton

Recommended Posts

More balanced than the usual ones which just bang on about walking thru a garden to get to the ground and how awful it would be to have them in the premier league. I'm hoping they go up just because it would annoy the league/media so much.

Kind of like how Millwall going up would be pretty funny. Don't get me wrong, I think Millwall are a scummy club with scummy fans but if they did go up boy would it be funny seeing them shake up all the media and the rich prawn sandwich clubs.

Yes. Millwall would also be funny. Personally I'd rather see Luton as I have a a Luton supporting colleague who's alright whereas the one Millwall fan I know is a ****!

Good luck to them.

I tend to find these “what’s the secret behind Luton/Brighton/whoever’s success” articles tend to be a bit flimsy. Listing what a club does right because it’s working is hardly blinding insight. “Continuity” in the team, making “smart signings” and “technically sound and a good character, they have to be athletic”. We have continuity in our team as do most out of necessity, and who doesn’t try to make smart and athletic signings?

It's see it as a passing spotlight, we've had it on us before, Brentford have it, Charlton had it.... And who's picking up on their success story today?

Looks like a good old Norwich Hewett Schoolboy Phil Chapple is at the heart of Luton's success. How ironic!

A thread with one of your latest pet subjects in the title and that is the best you can come up with........?

Your point being?

Seems like we scour the world for the best talent then ignore that which is on our doorstep.

Chapple seems to have a pretty successful career as a Club Scout. According to the Archive entry he was back at Carrow Road at the front end of the pandemic. The Club did not appoint him in any capacity before he went to Luton. His time back at NCFC coincided with that when his dad died. The latter being the co-ordinator of the ball boys for many years at Carrow Road.

Adrian Forbes is there too on the coaching side.

Mick Harford is head of recruitment. A few on here would go into meltdown if we appointed someone like that.

Yes. As much as 'it should have been us bor' of 1959 - it is a testament that football is still based on merit (just). And if dirty Leeds and/or Everton are relegated, so be it.
