Recommended Posts

The insanity and depravity of USA's lack of gun control laws summed up perfectly by Steve Kerr:

I am absolutely certain that we will not see serious gun control in the USA in the next 30 years.

However much evidence there is to the contrary, a significant part of the population still believe that the most relevant point is that "if you take the good guys guns, the only people with guns will be the bad guys" and therefore more guns equals less shootings.

There's no really way to reason with these people, and unless the die out then there won't be significant change.

A significant number of them die out when they get shot by their own toddler playing with Daddy's toy. Sadly not enough to protect the innocent. The GOP would rather protect the conglomeration of a few cells we call the "unborn", than protect children sitting at a desk in school.

They are worried abortion will reduce the gun lobby. And of course the Replacement Theory conspiracy means poor ole Elmer will be replaced by Ebony.

The gun lobby in the USA is rather like blinkered zealots all over the world that argue for abstract rights that bear no practical relationship to the real world around them.

The second amendment never envisioned modern weapons being carried in 20th let alone 21st century public spaces with no avert threat at all from hostile powers and the need to raise a militia c.f. Ukraine.

Ted Cruz ambushed by British reporters yesterday. Couldn't answer a question properly but said the reporters just had a left wing agenda.

And he pathetically asked if the US was so bad, why do so many want to go there? Which of course is contrary to their current belief that the Democrats are expanding immigration so they can replace the good ole boys and rig elections.

The world is crazier than it has ever been before. The more liberating it becomes, the more devisive it becomes. And the poles move further apart.

I always believed that education via an expanding world was good. But the onslaught of conduits for looneys and nutters to promote their evil is making me believe we have gone way too far.

Worth reading Plato on this (e.g. The Apology). He was very clear that any discussion of what constitutes wisdom needed to distinguish between the Sophists and those genuinely pursuing truth. The Sophists (today's spin doctors, and social media agitators) were only concerned to win arguments and persuade others to believe their claims irrespective of any relation to the truth. Plato considered their influence to be malign. Alas, it is very clear that the Sophists are again in the ascendency.

The NRA should be listed as a dangerous terrorist organisation.

there are hundreds if not thousands of pupils who had their lives wrecked, through injury and or the memories of this continued madness.

list of incidents involving schools in the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States

and the list of school shootings going back to the 1900's.

They certainly present a far greater danger to the ordinary citizen of the USA when compared to the threats presented by the "traditional" terrorist organisations. Also it will undoubtedly be true that the members of white supremacist terrorist organisations, regarded by the FBI as the USA's greatest internal threat, will also to a man and woman be members or supporters of the NRA.

Probably one of the most repulsive political stunts ever:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/at-nra-meeting-trump-reads-names-of-uvalde-shooting-victims-to-the-sound-of-gongs/ar-AAXOlN4

Imagine having the ignorance, gall, and depraved opportunism to read out the names of 19 slaughtered children and 2 teachers, while at the same time claiming that laws preventing their 18-year-old murderer from buying two military grade automatic rifles would have made no difference to their fate.

I would love to puke all over that ill fitting suit of his.

OK guys, how's your black humour this morning? 😉

Dark humour is probably the only way to restrain one's anger at the depraved antics going on at the NRA conference. Imagine just how corrupted you have to be by the money thrown at you by the gun lobby to protest that school children are best protected by placing them in the crossfire of a gun battle between armed teachers and an assailant with automatic military weapons.

Well-regulated militias don't go into schools and shoot kids.

Mind you, my sense of humour is so dark George Zimmermann would probably racially profile it.

Tear up an NRA meeting, an evangelical church or one of Ted Cruz's children's schools and something may dawn on them.

It does make you wonder if the NRA lobby think that new mandatory school uniforms should include body armour in the USA so as not to be 'negligent'.
