There have been some bets on McKenna which won't please that lot down the road. More worrying is the suggestion on the Watford forum of Pearson and Shakespeare.

McKenna's yet to prove himself at 1p5wich, especially after their dismal run-in at the end of his first season, in League 1.

The Watford hierarchy is unlikely to believe all the customary hot air and hype emanating from Portman Road and appoint such a rookie for the vital task of taking the club back to the PL.

It would be funny though.

I note that Daniel Farke is somewhere in the running. This might seem a better fit for him than some of the other jobs that have been mentioned.

Watford have better players, including (at the moment) Ismaili Sarr. I believe that some of the team's woes this season were caused by the absence of this player through injury at vital times.

I find it hard to believe that Sarr will stay. He's a brilliant player. Although he does have a screw loose🙄

£135 million in debt at the end of last season - paying debt interest of over £6 million - they need the money more than we do.

They also have a similar issue to us and Max that his contract runs out in 2024 and thy would run the risk of running it right down.

It would be a very ambitious (and possibly foolhardy) move to keep him.

why would McKenna leave the biggest club in League 1?

they have the history, the best fanbase, virtually a Premier League squad.

why go to Watford?

Interesting article on the Athletic. Watford are planning on departing from the "hire and fire" strategy to giving a manager time to "establish a culture". They have a quote from an unnamed source within Watford specifically naming Daniel Farke at Norwich as an example.

Daniel Farke to Watford?
