0peteddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Worthy might be a lousy manager but wouldn''t be stupid enough to sell Deano today and then perhaps lose to Watford on Saturday. Will go Monday if he goes at all, his groin strain will unlikely get better. claretnblue 0 Posted January 20, 2006 This from today''s Independent:West Ham United were yesterday in talks with Barcelona over anaudacious bid for striker Maxi Lopez. They hope to sign the 21-year-oldArgentinian on a permanent transfer although he would not move untilthe summer. They are also pursuing Poland''s full-back Marcin Baszczynski whoplays for Wisla Krakow and who is to arrive on trial this weekend.West Ham''s interest in the Argentinian has developed followingtheir failure to land Red Star Belgrade''s Nikola Zigic and, morerecently, their frustration at trying to buy Dean Ashton from NorwichCity. A £7m bid has been rejected with Norwich intimating they may wantas much as £8m. lucky green trainers 0 Posted January 20, 2006 can''t see it myself. there''s no value in it for city - will 20,000 season ticket holders renew without ashton? Jerome will cost 3-4m, he ain''t no deano. deano has excellent partnership with wly & hucks, will a new player reproduce that in time for us to maintain our play off push? doubt it. if he goes, it''ll be in the summer.hammers are squillions in debt, now they''re lashing out on a 7m spaniard, renewed zamora contract, can they afford deano? probably not. Horace Borris 0 Posted January 20, 2006 With West Ham practically secured their Premiership status already this season they do have the money to invest in both players.I think them signing Ashton is more likely than Lopez to be honest. I imagine it will all go through on Monday.
