ThorpeCanary 71 Posted May 3, 2019 Wasn't the south stand built with the foundations in place to add 4000 in the future? If so we could have quite the ambitious plan here, house the city stand fans there before then moving onto phase 2 in which we rebuild that one. would take the capacity to 35-37k or so. Might have wiped out our premier-league millions already though. oops Phase 3 and 4 could be replacing the two end stands housing all the corporate stuff in the River end while having a single tiered Barclay for our own yellow wall. Wishful thinking perhaps
Bill 1,788 Posted May 3, 2019 That would take a huge amount of subsidising and i doubt anyone would be willing to be tied to bailing out the club year in year out. there were plenty of empty seats even this season, so even with PL football the extra few pennies would not cover the interest let alone the capital
ThorpeCanary 71 Posted May 3, 2019 I don't disagree. Would love to see CR like that in my lifetime though.
splendidrush 700 Posted May 3, 2019 As someone mentioned, there's no decent football between us and London and there's not likely to be for some considerable time. We have the opportunity to sew up the East of England in terms of support. Invest now and let our marketing team loose, hoovering up all the young support in the area. We've already got football academies all over East Anglia, to not take advantage of this situation now would be an opportunity missed.

JayNCFC 14 Posted May 4, 2019 Does the club need further capital expenditure projects right now? Building infrastructure is perfect, if it is going to get used, would this? In a promotion season, yes, first Prem season, yes... if we stay in the Premier League longer term, will the interest remain? I would hope so, but not 100% sure. The GW stand has a capacity of roughly 4300 so if you knocked that down and built a replica of the SS as it currently is that would add another 4000 as well. The SS option would appear to be the least disruptive as it's possible that some, if not all, of the existing SS could still be open for use as a further tier is added.
