Yellow Wal 314 Posted April 23, 2015 Inverness Caledonian Thistle''s Josh Meekings has received a one match ban which will exclude him from the Scottish Cup final.Inverness have refused to accept a retrospective one-game ban for Meekings for handling a Leigh Griffiths header in a 3-2 semi-final win over CelticFifa referees boss Jim Boyce also says a ban will set a "dangerous precedent".He added: "It doesn''t help us if someone gets banned. I don''t think that''s right. I don''t think he did it on purpose, the ball was going very quickly. It was reaction, but it was a clear handball, a red card and a penalty."Neil Lennon has come out and said this could open a big can of worms.......... and it will.Should we appeal against Derby''s goal against us as the officials did not see the obvious foul on John Ruddy? Can we have a retrospective additional two points?Whatever happened to ''The referee''s decision is final''?The authorities interfere too much already without getting into this sort of things. Perhaps none of them have qualifications in common sense............... and I cannot quite understand the Fifa referees boss when he said ".... I don''t think he did it on purpose, ......... but it was a clear handball, a red card and a penalty."Can somebody explain that to me please?
flapps&fumble 0 Posted April 23, 2015 Generally you have accept if it contains FA its generally a cock up. If they want to deal with something retrospectively the ref didn''t see it and if they don''t they he saw it and dealt with it, surely he dealt with this as he waved away appeals. And you wonder why the officials are so poor led by these idiots is it any wonder.
Hairy Canary 712 Posted April 23, 2015 I certainly can''t explain it Yellow Wall - but then I''m not a Fifa Referees boss. Why the referee didn''t simply say it was unintentional and therefore not a penalty escapes me.
king canary 7,681 Posted April 23, 2015 Really bad idea this. Not paid much attention to Scottish Fitba but I''d take a little guess that this would not have happened if the other team wasn''t Celtic.
Bethnal Yellow and Green 1,613 Posted April 23, 2015 He said it was ''unintentional'' but a ''reaction'' - meaning he wasn''t like Suarez and deliberately trying to make a ''save'' but he moved his hand towards the ball and denied a clear goal scoring opportunity so received a red card.A retrospective ban is silly, as it does open every decision up to appeal - although the Scottish FA have avoided doing the incredibly stupid thing some suggested of replaying the game. kick it off 1,956 Posted April 23, 2015 I''ve always stoically advocated that technology doesn''t need to be in football, but I''ve recently changed my perspective. There is no romance of the game, and equals itself out over a season anymore, the rise in diving and cheating has ended all that.I think the sooner we do have technology in football, the better. All goals reviewed as a matter of course, referee can call a replay review of any other incident anytime he needs to (although with guidance on moderating this to major incidents where red cards may be applicable, and incidents in and around the box). It''s an american style system (NFL/NBA) but it works. Sure, games may take 5 minutes longer to finish, but I''d rather have a fair game that''s paused a couple of times for 2mins to let the ref check something out if he''s not sure, than continually get shafted and lose to refs who have missed/got it wrong on key incidents.Ref''s need to get respect back, and they can''t do that when they cock up consistently. Watch a game from the Turkish league, the minute a player opens his mouth to the ref, the yellow card comes flying out. As a result, there is none of this crowding round the ref malarkey, players just get on with it. Diving and attempts to con the ref should be instant red cards and 2 game ban (although the ref should have to review it on replay before making a decision) and if the ref gets it wrong, then they should be demoted and it should be retrospectively punishable with a 2 game ban. Put all of those in, and that would soon sort the game out for the better.

kick it off 1,956 Posted April 24, 2015 No idea Nuff Said, but it makes the games far more interesting. They''re also a lot less susceptible to being fooled by diving over there, the ref just tells them to get up and get on with it. Got a lot of respect for turkish refs to be fair, they generally do a good job, get most decisions right and don''t take any nonsense.
im spartacus canary 0 Posted April 25, 2015 yes an absolute joke, on the rare occasions Celtic don''t win by a bucket load they write to the SFA to ask why! total lack of class.
