1. We probably have more turn up to an open day than you''ve seen all season. But don''t take my word for it The press rarely report about anything over your way so it''s hard to know for sure One thing I do know, Hughton''s going to find it hard going from his Porsche to a club tractor Oo ar
2. I read some of these bitter tinged posts and can almost smell tears of anger. Incredible Give it a rest now. He''s gone, you''ve got a new manager from arguably a team on par with yourselves (well 1 trophy less, don''t let them try and argue any different) and you need to look forwards Happy days all round
3. Ooo bitter! Don''t know why. I''m delighted, you should be happy with your choice too. I''d be a bit annoyed with your board and the shambles they''ve made of this though Lessons will be learned I''m sure
4. I think Hughton will do a great job. He''s a top up and coming manager. It''s refreshing to see teams now going down this route rather than going for the same old ''names'' and overpaid foreigners who just sound fancy
5. Our aim is back in top 6 within 3 seasons and a cup run or two. Quietly confident No delusions of grandeur or CL here Small steps, no giant leaps expected
6. That''s a bit odd seeing as I''m congratulating you on getting a very good young manager I''ve never posted anything on here disrespectful at all You have anger issues
7. All I need now is McLeish back to Blues to complete a perfect start to the summer
8. In the overall premiership points table for the 20 premier league seasons, Aston Villa sit 5th, behind Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. The table only shows the top 25 point earners so I can''t tell you where Norwich are. Even though the likes of Wigan, Southampton, Coventry, Leicester, Portsmouth, Boro, Charlton, Sheff Weds and even Wimbledon all make the top 25. In the overall all time English football top league points round up we sit 5th again. That list is topped by Liverpool followed by Arsenal, Everton and Man Utd. Norwich do feature in this list at a respectable 34th. Just below Charlton, Blackpool and Ipswich who sit at 31st. In the entire history of English football, Aston Villa sit 4th in terms of trophies won. Inc 7 titles, 7 FA cups, 5 league cups, 1 European cup, 1 Super cup. Total 21 trophies behind Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal. After scrolling down the list I found Norwich on 2 trophies, just behind Ipswich who have 3 and just above Birmingham who have 1. Not random stats, just facts. Thinking we''re footballing rivals would be akin to me thinking we''re in the same league as Man Utd, Chelsea or Man City. If only!
9. Why would anyone in Norwich hate Villa ?. Seems odd to me. Your board caused this mess not us As for Faulkner (Villa Director) yes he''s a grade A knob
10. He didn''t need to be tapped up. Villa applied in writing for permission to speak to Lambert. Norwich refused. Lambert got wind of this, told the board his contract clearly stated he could talk to any bigger clubs and that they''d broken that contract He resigned, spoke to Villa and took the job. With Norwich being the contract breakers it''s highly unlikely any compensation will be forthcoming
11. There''s some very bitter folks on here. You''d think we were rivals or something Remember better to be a sleeping giant than just another forgotten also ran. Just ask Liverpool, they''re still snoozing but remembered too Forget about Villa. Think about Ipswich and staying ahead of them. Hughton will do a good job no doubt. But like Lambert will look to jump ship (much quicker than Lambert) if a better offer comes along. It''s in his make up
12. Er, winning the ultimate trophy 30 years ago is the one that stands out Having an average premier league finish of 5th Couple of league cup wins Runners up after going neck and neck with Man Utd in the first PL season Basically I''ve enjoyed ALL the last 30 years ups and downs. That''s what supporting your club is all about Relegation happened and was taken on and we went straight back up. It was a fun season There were times last season when I actually secretly thought a season in the championship would be fun. But that was under a manager that had sucked the life out of the club and everyone connected with it Words can''t describe the difference in feel around the club since he was removed. The whole place has woken up from a year long hibernation Lambert has been on to a winner from day one simply by not being McLeish Long may he reign. And if a top 4 club come calling for him in 3 years, then so be it. It''ll mean he''s done his job here to warrant it But, and let''s be honest. If he''s got Villa in the top 6 by then he will be able to achieve whatever he wants with the set up that''s in place Just like Saunders did ... another present made in Norwich
13.

He took the job and said yes because he was the only one offered it Brum already full of Lambert''s Lions t- shirts. Shame it''s pissing down
Rubbish! Shouldn''t you be on a Villa forum creaming yourself over Lambert.
Well it''s FACT! I don''t cream myself over a manager like Lambert, I am excited obviously but at Villa there have been many things to cream myself over during the last 30 years. This isn''t one of them. Happy = very much so It''s like me asking if you''re creaming yourself over Hughton?. Who I sincerely hope joins your lot. Whether he''d like the change of lifestyle from big city to Norwich though will be a big deciding factor Roll on the good times
14. He took the job and said yes because he was the only one offered it Brum already full of Lambert''s Lions t- shirts. Shame it''s pissing down
15. I think Villa would stretch to 3.5m tops. Or Warnock and a bag of hammers
16. Fingers crossed the Hughton deal happens now ... It''s been a good week in B6 and that would top it off sweetly Get it done
17. PS Culverhouse and Kalsa will be at Villa by the weekend
18. Solksjaer wasn''t even asked back for a second round of talks neverming offered the job. And that''s a fact even he confirmed Just because Randy Lerner sent his private jet to pick him up for a chat people assumed he was being offered the job. But it was just a touch of class that someone got wind of and blew up a media storm in Norway I can state without any doubts the Villa heirachy are absolutely chuffed with their choice. Now just watch how much backing he gets this summer That''ll be the proof in the pudding
19.

Thought he spoke very well. He''s already gone down very well with local press folks and the supporters over in the Midlands. I think Villa fans are generally delighted and also crossing their fingers Hughton joins Norwich.
Why would villa fans want Hughton to join Norwich?
I''d have thought that was glaringly obvious! Because he manages their rivals and is considered a good manager. Him leaving will mess them up And Villa supporters don''t care who or what happens at Norwich obviously
20. Just to clarify something above. Villa drew up a short list of 5 managers and held talks with them all. The only one the general public know about is Solksjaer. There were others BUT they only offered the job to one man after deciding he was the man they wanted. And that was Lambert It''s the same with Liverpool. They interviewed a few other managers too. But knew after conducting those Rodgers was the one they wanted

22. He''s on 55k a week so highly unlikely
