  1. Hogesar specialises in hurling ad hominem abuse at anyone who questions the board. He seems happy to make up the numbers whenever we are promoted
  2. It isn’t 2 games- it’s also the entire last season we were in this division when we spent £3.50 and proved dismal.
  3. Part of the problem is that our nice fans make it too easy for the board- they have cultured a lack of ambition and a feeling we are lucky just to play in the division -
  4. We looked sharp against Liverpool last time we went up and we took the game to city and beat them. Now we look half baked and shot and as if we have conceded even earlier / reminds me of the rubbish after the Covid break when we shattered records for being feeble
  5. Plan a was keep Skipp- that failed and I smell no plan B…going into this season with no cdm was suicidal. Looking at loans of undeveloped kids when we were out muscled last time looks naive
  6. I can taking losing, it’s the fact we seem to have learnt nothing that stings
  7. Do you want to list the teams we are allowed to be competitive against? Then we can support our team on those few days and enjoy being spanked on the others. Didn’t realise that is how it works
  8. Palace were promoted and became competitive Leeds get promoted and are competitive Southampton went up and established themselves Watford went up and stayed up for a bit etc etc etc Norwich go up and every time look totally out of their depth- it’s so depressing
  9. Hard to break down, not trying to stick to a system and formation designed to outplay a better team.
  10. But it’s all absolutely fine - the clappers have said so. You just say “but it’s Man City” to replace “but it’s Liverpool” last week and keep pretending selling our most creative player and not replacing skipp or upgrading the defence hasn’t left us totally outclassed in this division…
  11. There is no question a good start can have great benefits compared to a bad one. BBC article last week showing how teams starting badly almost never improve. Therefore the fixture secretary served us up an absolute howler given that those pointing out losing against Liverpool is expected are also correct. We have a perfect storm of bad luck to start with then…and doing it without obvious gaps filled (skipp replacement being the biggest) only adds to that… I imagine morale won’t be too badly hit if we lost to Man City and Leicester but a bad game against Watford and suddenly things could look dire…
  12. Cahill is almost 36 - he is passed it and will be expensive. It’s a no from me
  13. Well it’s over after that display isn’t it? A big hole to fill
  14. Webber admitted we went into a fight without a gun last time we were promoted. This time we have spent more money but we have also lost our two best players from last season. With both the other promoted teams already on a win - what did you think yesterday? Are we now fighting with a gun or still lacking the players to be competitive? For me the rest of this window is MASSIVE in terms of success or failure. We certainly won’t stay up without reinforcements especially at CDM
  15. Our problem is that we are a footballing side. Those who survive at bottom of premiership tend not to be. I see nothing to suggest this attempt will be different to the last one/ plenty of pretty phases but lacking the physicality in the middle and the killer touch up front. That strong CDM is desperately needed to inject some steel
  16. That will be a massive confidence boost for Brentford and a great start - which can make all the difference. I do hope the fixture computer hasn’t all but relegated us before a ball is kicked
  17. Pukki to struggle a bit this season as tiredness and age begin to catch up with him Dowell to be the surprising star and make the CAM position his own PLM - to be a sensation and prove a bargain Rashica - to disappoint (really hope not - just a gut feeling) defence to struggle without skipp to protect them- ajer to flourish at Brentford and annoy us all either 13th or 20th - we never do it by half
  18. A good guy whose level is probably lower championship or top end L1 but who gage it his best and was a positive influence in our promotion season- I say buy him a beer and help him find a club where he can play more often
  19. Anyone who thinks McLean can ‘do a job’ as the CDM watched no football last time we were in this division. He lacks the physicality and was often barged off the ball - this would also be the issue with Sorenson. We have plenty of skill in midfield but where we are lacking is muscle and size compared to the units in the lower premiership teams- hence we were bullied off it and won so few games amongst bottom half sides. This hasn’t - as yet -been addressed. And it is a bit of an issue given our model to sign teenagers with potential over older players. We continue to sign very young and fast athletes but we could do with a lump or two to give us some bite.
  20. Hanley is our best CB!! I would let zimmo go and have someone to start with Gibson and Hanley competing for the other shirt
  21. Excellent/ an exciting addition. Now let’s get the skipp replacement (fingers crossed it is skipp) and Cb sorted
