1. Now on rival  boards as a potential threat..Potential being the operative word! I was gonna add this post to that binners post, but then thought why bump that pile of sh#''te up? Last season players who can and potentailly can make this season a success Chrissy martin...A criticism has been stated that "If he is that good other teams would be knocking" He has been, and still is,learning! He already proved at this level as a raw kid,he could score goals..Then sent out on loan, improved the last season, improved again.I would also guess, there was a couple of enquries last season,as we were in a rush to offer a new deal to him halfway through the season..And he did take his time before commiting..Last season he added strength to his armoury...And lambert will work on his holding play to add to his skill set Holt...Agree that he is untested, but his skill set is similar to Iwans so cant see why not Hoolie,,,Using the argument about other teams being interested makes you a good player see bottom Nelson..Untried so wait n see/Whitbred..Untried but puntits seem to think he is one that will get better Askou..I thoughthe looked strong and reads the game well..Lambert may now have seen better Macca/Olli....Olli seems to be most peoples tip to be the suprise of our squad..I think Macca may suprise a few Smithy...A diamond who showed last season,he can take a punch and get up and deliber! ..This season there will be no better in our league Along with the rest,we won that league, the hardest ecer, with ease! and that is with us stalling and not getting started till a quarter of the season gone..And most of fans on their sites, posing the question"which club who gets promoted, needs to buy for next season"..And not nearly all,but ALL of the responses were along the lines of "we will need 4 or 5 ..But norwich already has a strong enough squadfor next season" ...And yet we invested heavily! Smith...Rangers wanted to keep him,and offered another contract...The calibra of Rangers is good enough for me(wanting to keep him) ..If they have released him then The calibra wouldve still been good, but not no where near as good! Ward...Championship player, who like huckerby and that langy freak did, needs to find their former form..Could be massive Surman...Again answering the critics who state"who was after him"..The papers range was ,Mboro/other northern yorkshire unnamed side/southamton and a clutch of other championship sides(from people) ..Having seen him at soton, and hearing about him from wolves fans..The poss best buy,who with age will get better Jackson...Last season the papers had everton and spurs tracking him,a and big BIG money was being talked about..The gill paper said it was  anythimg between 1.5 and 3 mill! ..My spurs mate summed it up for me...He said "last season, the gill boss wanted too much for a guy untested outside the prem and you(Norwich) have got him relatively cheap as he is now entering his final year..But dont ce suprised when he ends uo here anyway" Ruddy...Everton fans really rate him....again wait n see The other 2,fox and crofts is also a wait n see game..but as according to most other fans,we had a squad already stron enough to hold our own,im sure these are  not gonna relate us if they turn out to be flops! A fact about Hoolie The calibra of burnly last pre season going to the prem, and Mboro last jan..One i know was a true due to the only source i have, who works at the younger section of our club, oberheard, both enquried Then there were other  un named championship sides, whether you believe the papers or not..If not then on that basis you cannot judge any players worth by who wants him.. I am predicting anything from 3rd to 12th as you also have to have a lot of luck... One thing though, Dont judge the players on preseason matches..1 they are getting fit,2 no one wants to start the season with an injury,so no one is goona be 100% commited.. And let the knew boys settle in before judgeing them! at least let them have 10 matches under their belt  before you and i start giving them your considered opinion :)
 2.

Match report on their website explains in a little bit more depth, forgive the dodgy translation The friendly match took place in the sports Hennef, where the English second division side are staying in the training camp, the game was played in thirds rather than halves. So three times 30 minutes. This gave the coaches plenty of opportunities to go to the teams and new employees. The 09ers played well and the English were worthy opponents. Both sides had good chances to score. It was a lively game. Linus Werner had the best oppurtunity for the 09ers when he almost scored after a skilful dribble through the gate and Hayro Maslar, which surprised the opposing goalkeeper with a shot from long distance. The two goals for Norwich City fell in the last third and resulted from carelessness from the 09ers.
when he almost scored after a skillful dribble but shot over the bar.
Awe that spoilt it! I had images of them playing old style, using whatever is about as goalposts and the gate was a post!

 4.
Agree almost 100% with the opening poster , most people on this messageboard have gone so far over the top about some pretty average signings its quite amazing , if we finish mid table we will have done well .
Sleeping binner comes active to support mate shocker!
 5.
No but ill buy one of those vacuums that suck off womans dresses
Theres a better invention for that..TEQUILA SLAMMERS! ;)

 7.
Interesting post. As ever, there is the general wave of optimism before the season starts, with only a few being more cautious. Usually the bookies are pretty close, and this season they have us finishing in 8th place. It''s not just at Norwich though. Several of my friends that follow different clubs have the same positive outlook, at what superstars their relatively unknown new signings will become. Can''t wait for the season to start, just unsure whether to bring my vuvuzela to the Watford game!
Several of your friends follow different clubs? ..Where do you live! ..Or are these internet friends :) Out of my mates,i have 1 spurs 1 liverpool rest Norwich..Non support teams in our league, though i did have a mate in coventry,a while ago, lost touch, and a work mate in southamton, who again lost touch with(last time i saw him we saw surman playing like a prem player for southamton!)
 8.
Suzi Perry Carol Vorderman Jessica Alba That weather girl off the tele The girl in accounts Brendo''s Mum (If she asked nicely!) [Y]
I was gonna post something similar,on ex gf`s ...But glad i didnt now just incase :)
 9.
Who cares about history anyway. Will the fact Leeds won league titles in the 1970s help them this season? Will Forest''s European Cup triumphs under Clough help them get promoted this season? Does the fact we beat Bayern and finished 3rd once help us now? Doubt it to be honest.
When you say 3rd, always say 3rd in the prem! As the old division 1 is not comparable..It was/is a whole new ball game(how the prem advertised itself just beore it started, with a song "Alive and kicking" The big difference was the pass back to the keeper, allowing him to pick it up,was abolished,so teams who could grind out a 1 nill win by using the keeper, roll out to defender, pass pass, back to keeper!..The rule allowed attacking and creative teams to make their mark....Mate who is a spurs supporter, really thought last season he could finally stop me crowing about being 3rd in the prem, but they f#### it up! :)
 10.

McNally will never score as much as Hucks...
Probably not as Hucks was a bit special. But I believe DM did play for Bromsgrove Rovers so he must have been pretty good.......
Bromsgrove Rovers! Who are they?
 11.

Strange you say that, i have heard that Peter Cullum is back on the scene and has bought the club, we will have to see if it''s true or not!!
You have made an average of 7 posts a year[:O]
And you have made an average of 834 posts a year :) ..
 12.
So im the only one who has a little, midging of a worry, that 7 new players just may weaken the team spirit of last season? ..Lone the signings, and was really happy until i was looking at last seasons FT league shows, for that cody goal, and came across that comment from Claridge about 4/5 new players, 6 at most, anymore you start to lose that togetheress that got Norwich there..When talking to mate last night,he said leicester did this a few seasons ago,got in almost a whole new team, and went down! ....Okay lets stick on 7
Was meant as Love the signings.
 13. Really hope we are not going to spoil the broth cooked up from last year! ...5 gives it that extra flavour,6 is pushing it,7,will only work with a top chef (which we got),but 8! Hmmm

 15.
I like your enthusiasm and I would love to see Norwich finish in the top 6 but for some reason I just don''t think it will happen. There are posts everyday of people saying ''we are getting promoted no problem'' and ''at least the playoffs if not better'' etc but I think a top half finish would constitute a good season. Compared to other teams in this division I don''t think we are in the upper quartile in terms of quality. Before anyone throws back the argument that anything can happen in the Championship and you cant predict it, I would say well surely at that rate there is as much cause for pessimism as well as we could find ourselves back in League 1. I would very much like to be on the promotionbandwagon but hand on heart I can''t share the OP''s point of view.
We are on par with most teams,in terms of quality, with the acquisitions, and with the quality already on board..We won league one, with ease, and that includes a stutter towards the end.And this was the hardest league one, according to most pundits,ever.. Next season, may prove that some of our players from last season, are not just good enough for this league, but even higher..Then 5 of the 7, imo, of the new signings, are of very high championship quality..My major concern is a comment made by Claridge on the football league show,in april..Though i agree he sometimes talks out of his ### ,this point seems fair... When asked by a norwich fan,"How will we do next season if we get promoted" He answered "If the manager adds 4 or 5 new players to give the current squad a helping hand, then they should be alright..6 at the most,as you start adding to many new faces, you spoil the bond that got you there" When i re watched this, and thought about it,he has a point..The `togetherness` was strong last season, now there has to be a new bond built.I dont think a trip to germany will make everyone become pals and know each others games inside out, though it will be a start I just hope Lambert does start off with a strong nucleus from last season,in the starting 11,and bring in the others gradually..Scrub that,im sure he will. And then i hope the fans give the new players time to settle and not expect them to perform miracles straight away!
 16.
Taking off the yellow specs, scraping into the play offs is more realistic.  Avoiding a relegation battle with an untried squad is the real thing to worry about.
A point im gonna make on a different thread, about too many new faces, but as long as the nucleus of the side starting, is from last season, then no way will we be i a relegation battle..If last season was the derby,we got got in the stalls, slow progress in the early stages, trying to make up lost ground, the leading horses, were eating up the ground with the first 2 being 8 lengths clear. But we then started to pull in the reins, and by halfway just as we turned into tatts corner,we had the momentum, and was now 3rd,jockeying for 2nd,with the leader still comfortably 5 lengths clear..Then we heel kicked forward, and as some of the early front runners were now slipping behind,we nudged ahead of Charlton, and with each gallop, put more daylight between us..At this stage, with a third of the race to go,the leader was now running heavy legs, and we just seemed to get a 2nd wind, and flew past..Though most of the other horses were now finding the going tough, there was another horse, who had  kicked on from halfway stage, swindon, but ny now, we were not concerned with the fight for placings, behind us,and was only concerned with the winning post....we then ran like it was a 6 furlong sprint, while the others all seemed to running like they have just run the 3 3/4 mile National!...As we got near the winning line,we also slowed down a bit,but still had 9 lengths on 2nd,which was a photo finish between 3 horses... So as we now move on to the Arc..And as we comfortably won a very competitive derby, with ease, ther is no way we will finiish in the bottom 3!
 17.
I do miss Doomcaster''s articles in the EDP, though. What joyous pieces of erudition they were. I would spend the following week in a reverie of pure ecstasy after digesting the great man''s words!
Probably a big hit in Scotland..They love a bit of prudence up there!
 18.
Fond memories of beating the scum at Poorman (aka Portaloo) Rd..   Iwan''s brace....Malkys goals.....Bellamys winner.....Hucks winner......the win during our first season in the top tier.....[/quote   Didnt we lose that 2 nil?.That was on a monday night and sky..we were something 8 points ahead in the prem, and of course finished 3rd (top if you use the leeds utd logic,`champions of europe`as we had loads of dodgy ref decisions go against us that cost us)
 19. Not far off! ..I think most fans of other clubs,at 2/3, would say Norwich are a bigger club and has been in living memory! ..Now if it was Huddersfield.,then they would have a claim. In living history,anyway..
 20.
I''d be delighted with top 6. Yes, top two is possible, but I think the real contenders are Burnley + Forest.
After reading and re reading all these posts,in case i am pulled up for missing someones point,i think the opinion of most posters concerning, where we will finish this year, has probably been the most optimistic for ages! ..  Though very few are predicting top 2,a top half seems in the words of  Lawrenson "doable" by quite a few (Maybe more than half or even POSSIBLY 2/3!!)
 21. Im happier with this seasons squad, and quality of pre season purchases, than any other time in the championship! ..
 22.
That isnt the point, the point was, today i was `speeding`through the posts, and i used the response to morty as proof, though god know why i have to defend myself against you!?! ....The post reply to morty, was on the Jackson thread..and as that thread was concerning this signing,im suprised you missed that!!!
This was in reply to johns post...

 24.

Im caught in two minds over wether Jacko will do a good job for you or not. He has scored some quality goals no doubt, but a fair few of his tally came from penalties and he often gets into some great posistions only for his finishing to let him down. However he will obviously be playing wth better players at Norwich who will create more chances for him. I hope he does well as he comes across as a decent fella as well.
The utube tribute, from the season before last, shows most of his goals comes from everywhere!..Heads,volley outside the box,the one at leeds, where he beats 4 players abd rounds the keeper,is pure class. The 6yrd box goals with agression as well..One poster says this is out of date and he has scored better since then..Has he got a temper problem though?
Be decent enough to read his comments about the player rather than wasting his time repeating the same question that has already been posed to him.
A few Gills fans i know have criticised his attitude especially towards the end of last season. Would you agree?

No i wouldnt mate. He was treated pretty badly by our old boss Stimson. He dropped him half way through the 2nd half of the season with no apparent reason. Also he played him upfront on his own for most f the time which isnt ideal for a little striker. Thats another reason why he may do well, leaving Holt to do the phyiscal work etc. There was nothing in the way he played that showed bad attitude imo.

As i posted,in a response to Morty on the other thread, today i was scanning quickly the posts as the boss is in town, and aint supposed to be in there!..Perhaps you didnt read all the posts today either!
 25.

Nowhere near as exciting as Gunn''s signing of Holt, what an inspired signing that turned out to be. Jackson seems to have potential but if he''s that good, I''m surprised that he spent years at Rushden and Diamonds. However, "in Lambert we trust" so I''m confident that Jackson will turn out to be every bit as effective and successful as Holt has been.
By the same token Holt had only just left the non-leagues at Jacksons age, and hadn''t yet as much as scored a single league goal. Personally, i''m far more excited with this signing now than when we signed Holt, but he well surpassed my (and everyone else''s) expectations. Excitement isn''t a measure for how well a player will do, and we''re often far too ignorant to the truth of the matter to let it be, so don''t by any means let it have you prejudge any player.
Good point..Honestly watching that 1st tribute on utube, on some of those goals,he reminds me of Ian Wright, and the goal against leeds, and that one against that team in mud orange, reminded me of Defoe! ..Time will tell if he can do it at the highest level :) .. Most other fans at other clubs had him on their rader last year..This one passed me by.. Just hope the #### moaners dont jump on our new signings back after 1 game! ..Let the lads settle in  first, then judge after at least 10 games..some will settle eralier, some later
