2. I've just sent you a DM, hopefully it's still spare. Thanks
3. Sounds good, imagine we won''t be the only ones! Good luck in the ballot.
4. I''ve got a lot of time for Rovers fans over Bristol City fans. Did you plump for keeping stum in the Uplands east terrace or DAS west terrace?
5. Anyone got any suggestions for pubs for pre-game drinks in Bristol tomorrow? Preferably not a Wetherspoons, something with a bit of character and where I''ll leave with all my front teeth!
6. Or indeed - Its Wesley Hoolahan and if its quite alright we love you Hoolanah despite ...
7. Hows about the old McVeigh song or is it sacred ... We love you Hoolahan ... A short ass to hopefully provide some decent crosses?
8. I too think Swansea will do pretty will, along with Barnsley and Preston possibly? Although I really do think we are in with a shout! Apologies but I really have hedged my bets there havent I!
9. Article on SkySports website: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11662_3936298,00.html The Old Pro: Black Boots - Dion (His boots looked older than him!) - A safe colour and suggest certinty and authority. Always worn traditional black boots, and always will. The Maestro: White Boots - ? - White represents purity and light and the Maestro oozes talent and class, and has everything except sweat-inducing work rate. The Hot Potato: Red Boots - Lupoli - Red is an intense colour which generates emotions. This fire-brand is impetuous and rash and will make their mark on the game, and their oponents. The Veteran: Blue Boots - Fozzy (for a very short time in Sweden!) - We look for blue skies, for peace and tranquility. He is convinced that his experience and nous more than makes up for a lack of pace. He switched to blue boots to demonstrate his coolness and calmness under pressure. The Enigma: Green Boots - ? - Here is a player who has the manager tearing his hair out in frustration. On his day, he can win a match by himself. One week, storming the barricages; next week, missing in action. Why? Who knows? The Entertainer: Yellow Boots - Croft - Yellow brings good cheer and optimism. Our yellow-booted entertainer is the life and soul of the team and shows lots of energy and enthusiasm. The Organiser: Brown Boots - ? - Our brown booted player will be a smartly turned out defender, unyielding and dependable with a penchant for a sliding tackle. The Golden Boy: Golden Boots - ? - The colour of sun brings warmth and wisdom. He is super talented, but he might believe too much in his own publicity. The Headless Chicken: Silver Boots - ? - Silver offers light and balance, and he has pace to burn. However he is sometimes known as a headless chicken and his passing can be erratic. The Eccentric: Orange Boots - Semmy - Orange offers freedom and emotional release. Your orange booted player can be prone to impulsive decision making and heart stopping gaffes - the boots express his individuality and desire to be different. Obviously you can never take these things too seriously but I CAN see some similarities between the descriptions and famous wearers. I haven''t been to any pre-season friendlies and so am not up-to-date with the latest boot trends! and have never really taken much interest before now - so please fill in the gaps. It might also be fun to pick the boots you think our players should wear and any obvious descrepencies between the descriptions and their playing styles! I''m a black booted man myself so I don''t know what that says about me ...
10. Hi guys, glad to hear your had a great time. Lupoli gets cheesiest grin from me whilst Dejan and Pattison look a bit special lol. Just wondering if anyone could do a run down of the backroom staff in the picture. Thanks!
11. I don''t know much about Clingan - as to whether he can play at right mid. Pattison played there a couple of times last season if I remember rightly. I''m a little suprised Russell hasnt started on right mid as I''ve seen him be effective there - he doesn''t seem to have been overly involved in pre season?
12. It will be interesting to see who plays at left back with 3 centre backs and Omozusi in the team. After Mondays performance I think its safe to say it won''t be pattison. I expect him and Hoolihan will be on the wings.
13.
I dont know why but I feel ''in his league'' implies a foreign league?
If this is the exact quote then I agree, it''s safe to assume that he does not play in our league. I also think the fact he "is still scoring goals in his league" may refer to the Norwegian leagues still running at the moment - throughout the summer, correct me if ''im wrong?! Could well indeed be Iversen.
14.
Radio Norfolk , and Roeder says hopefully 3 more before window closes .
Hi Dictator, How long ago was this on? I listened most of the morning and when I don''t!
15.
Why cant we gamble and go for Aaron Mclean from Peterbrough Hes good with his head and hes got skill and pace good power, yes hes unproven but it could pay off. May have to pay a bit for him but his wages wouldnt be too high, nowhere near as high as Sibierski
No offence but we really don''t need another little man! Especially at the kind of money Barry Fry wants. A great goalscoer no doubt but Lupoli and Cureton are very similar players. I know many don''t rate Cureton but I think he''s good at this level. If you are talking of bringing in someone like Mclean then there really isn''t much point in keeping him.
16. Rigters, Rasiak or Sibierski! I''d be happy with any one of these. Although I can''t quite see Sibierski coming here - but you never know! Him and Roeder do seem to get on pretty well.
17. Well Nathan Tyson of Forest isn''t quite the big man we have been discussing here but we were linked with him (and many others I know) earlier in the summer. I think he''s good but can''t see Forest letting him go cheaply even with all their incoming signings, although if I remember rightly he was stalling on a new contract. Well anyway ... it seems he''s a little injury prone and his hamstring remains a little dodgy - Calderwood doesn''t sound too hopeful. So you can assume thats him as a target out of the window!
18. I was thinking along these lines as well ... Howard is clearly not rated by many on this board, I haven''t really seen him enough to comment. If many are to be believed he is fairly immobile yet strong, good in the air and not a bad penalty taker. For the potential £500k outlay and probably significant wages I am sure there must be alternative targets in the lower leagues of similar ability to play the centre forward role. Personlly, I think Cureton and Lupoli would reap rewards with a physical presence alongside. £500k is a fair lay-out for a player of his age and unless Glenn thinks he can get something more out of him I would question such a purchase at that price.
19. Well I don''t rate him as a left back and he should not be judged playing there. If anything I think he should be applauded for stepping up to play there and giving it a good go. He is still a young player and although a bit raw I think with our support and input from the manager and coaches he could turn out to be a good player for us. He''s a trier for sure. I seem to remember a very good performance against Burnley at home last season- on the right wing! having swapped with Huckerby allow him back on his favourite side. He was causing no end of problems and chasing everything. I think he may come good.
20. As the clock ticks towards the start of the new season I have been wondering when we can expect the new team photo? I see the pinkun are still carrying last years with Grant, Duffy and a very portly Gunny and the OS carrying what appears a rushed replacement with Roeder, Clark and Gunn (- a stone or two!) and the old kit. I know the club were running a deal to be a squad photo? Any takers owning up to that? When the new photo comes out with copies in the paper with all the new players in the new kit it always gets me excited and you know the season is just around the corner! But at the moment who knows if Archant will even get their hands on it [:P]
21. Whatever the ins and outs of a ''big man'' up front tempting lazy defenders to punt it up there I think it is essential to bring in a presence up front. This is not so much to win aerial balls but to hold of defenders and allow support to get forward, just as others have said before, as well as providing a fallback option, a threat from set-pieces and a throw them all forward kind of player which is undoubtedly necessary at some points during the season. Judging by Roeders comments in todays Evening News he seems to agree and the point about Curo is very valid. He had a fantastic season with Iwulemo at Colchester and Akinbiyi back in the day. Roeder - " ... we now need to find a bigger, more physical striker for him [Lupoli] and for Jamie Cureton to play with because Cureton''s at his best when he''s playing with a bigger striker alongside him, the same as Arturo."   p.s apologies for repetition on different posts.
22. I think we can expect one striker, one capable of holding the ball up, and a backup GK. Whatever the ins and outs of having a big man in the team and the effect this may have on players I feel it is a must in this division. Not to win headers via through aerial play but more than anything. Judging by Roeders quote in the Evening News tonight I think he agrees: "... we now need to find a bigger more physical striker for him [Lupoli] and for Jamie Cureton to play with because Cureton''s at his best when he''s playing with a bigger striker alongside him, the same as Arturo." Beyond these two signings - a GK and a striker I don''t think we can be too disappointed if there are no further additions. Ideally, if budgets permitted we could do with one further striker and one more CB. I can see Roeder giving Spillane and Martin a chance to claim these positions in the squad (maybe their last chances!) and if they fail to produce bringing in replacements towards the end of this window or during January. We still only have 3 loans after all!
