  1. Its difficult to see our more substantial transfer targets at the moment but of the frees available; lets look at the main one FREES Macheda (possibly) Etherington (too old) Sidwelll (too much competiton) Collinson (yes) Ridgewell (too old) Aneke (yes though a bit unknown) and the season long loans LOANS Bamford Thorne Kane (2 years on seems to have improved) Gnarby Buttner Some of the Liverpool youth Team who have 3 or more prospects? Any thoughts
  2. Like the high wages paid to the Manager of Needham Market? Mind you I have learned something, I didn''t even know they had a team until this week...
  3. I know the wage bill went down, I have tried to factor this in , in my back of the fag packet calculations. I think my rough figures offer a counter to those people who think we can spend about 10M on transfers with nothing coming in, we can''t. We are only facing a containable loss because we had clauses written in without that we would have been looking at a fire sale.
  4. I would be amazed if we don''t have to sell in order to get funds to buy and as no-one has yet gone apart from 3 on loan, Fox and Nash then we will need to wait for the 1st player sold before we can move forward. I am going to start the guessing game of when the 1st player comes in by, I say June 22nd
  5. The players out of contract this year are Pilkington Tuner Tettey Bunn I think the club has an option on most of them with the possible exception of Turner and seems to have already exercised this option with Pilkington i would assume to get a fee (2.5M?) If all 4 get a 1 year extension that leaves us with a massive no out of contract in 12 months; Bunn, Pilkington, Tuner, Tettey, Garrido, R Bennett, Snodgrass, Hoolohan, Surman and Rudd. Surman and Hoollohan look almost certain to be gone in days, which leaves urgent decisions on the others. Even with some players immediately trimmed off the wage bill, Fox, Nash and the 3 loanees our wage bill is probably only just short of 40M. So most of the 9 above will need to go plus one or more of the biggest earners; Ruddy, RVW, Bassong or Fer. Only then we will know how much money we have got to spend, with no outs at all it will surely be nothing. If you look at our finances for 2012-13 we were spending 51M on wages which possibly went up to about 55M last year. The wage reduction on relegation will be 25% to 33 % I assume leaving us with say 38M on wages. The TV money of approx 26M, Gate Revenue of 11M and other finances of about 10M, will balance out the wages leaving us short on the costs of paying for the Youth set up (approx 5M?). So if my calculations are right we will have to make a transfer profit of up to 5M just to break even. Have I got this roughly right, perhaps Purple or Tangible got input on this rather gloomy outlook.
  6. I am not sure you can write off the opposition to your minority view as plastics. The Board have built up this announcement by setting a timetable that they didn''t reach, and then by saying that we were going for "top of the class" with the hint that Neil Adams wasn''t being considered as lacking in experience which of course he is. They then appoint a Manager who got 1 point out of 5, and who got the team playing well in only 1 or 2 halves out of those 5 matches. Of course it may prove to be a good decision but its a strange one at best.
  7. The whole Board signed up for this one Source - Official Site I would be interested to know who the other interviewed candidates were apart from Zola and MacKay
  8. Sorry, I didn''t read your reply properly You were expressing doubt that the Board was fundamentally split. You were correct, much to my amazement, they all even battle hardened McNally signed up for Neil Adams!!
  9. Are you sure about this one Purple? Official site says all the Board agreed on appointment. Yes that caught me out as well
  10. I don''t have any time for the Sun but Charlie Wyett is a Norwich fan and his stories do suggest he has some inside track He has said that Malky was offered the job and rejected it as the Parties couldn''t agree terms by which I assume finances. This frankly makes the whole sorry mess even worse.
  11. Just to drop in a lighter note The No1 Norwich legend of all time on FM is.... Neil Adams!
  12. The vitriol is directed against the Board not Neil though a few have expressed unease about his results. If McNally now walks we will be in total crisis
  13. 1) Grant Holt never trained with the youth Team 2) Grant Holt wasn''t that bright 3) The Debt was 7 or 8 Million when they came in 4) Turnover was 75M tops last season 5) Perhaps the fans know best for once?
  14. Oops I could be wrong but I think that this was going to happen and either Lennon or McKay turned us down. i also underestimated what a fuckwit Delia Smith is
  15. As the title says.... As said the other day this is what happens when Smith and Jones take a lead in decision making Words fail me...
  16. I think we will have to agree to disagree on the record Nutty its capable of being read a no of different ways. Its not about having an Agenda, its the Little Old Norwich Syndrome surfacing again or so it appeared. Did anyone else think it facile to compare us against Manchester City as they did this Morning. We all know that we can''t compete against them but we can compete vs C Palace and Hull to name but two. We were no better or worse than 8 or 9 of teams round us in terms of spending and turnover but finished 7th out of the mini league of 9 or so at the bottom. No-one but an idiot would say that we can complete vs Man City but that is not the point. We were on the cusp of transforming Norwich into an established Premier League Club which is why it is so painful to go down. I honestly think the Board thought that we were already there ie compare us to Hull who spent 11M or so in January as they were in the 1st season up compared to our paltry tinkering in the same period. Only history will tell if it will cost us in the long run, we can either do a Wolves, a West Ham or perhaps most likely a Wigan ie be up there but not in the top 2. As our wages will push 40M without some prunning even after the reduction after relegation it all depends on getting the biggest earners off our books. Otherwise the Parachute money will be just get swallowed... This may be the most important season in our history
  17. I think you might well find that Neil Adams is the new Technical Director which seems to be the nitty gritty of being Manager ie recommendations re transfers and loans, some apparent control over training but not Manager. BUT NOT THE MANAGER. Bookmark this post
  18. Sorry Nutty its chequered and the last 3 seasons have got it to that good, I think we just need to look at the Managers appointed; Walker 2nd time round - Indifferent Rioch - Indifferent Hamilton - Awful and a Binner to boot Worthington - Good Grant - Awful Roeder - Pretty Awful Gunn - Awful Lambert - Excellent but probably not her appointment Hughton - Ok at best Aplomb is not an adjective I would use to describe the whole tenure, some great bits, some crap bits and a lot in between meandering would be nearer the mark. They are real fans but they do need someone there with some steel and in McNally and Bowkett we are miles off old Doomy and Mumbles Munby to be fair. The Club is in a better state in terms of infrastructure than when they came also I would freely conceed
  19. I hate to agree with flip flop Wiz but this is the reason why McNally has fronted up press interviews in the last 2-3 years. To repeat the same old who else is there reminded me of the Gunn fiasco. The best thing Wynn Jones and Smith have done in the 19 years is to step back to a degree and leave it to McNally who takes the nicey nicey approach of leaving someone in situ because he comes round and enjoys the cooking (Hamilton and Worthington) in place, clean out of the equation. I am not trying to drag up old ground but two of the decision makers who have had a chequered record in 19 years are still there which worries me. McNally less so. I think it was also rather undignified to slag off Hughton off regularly, he did poorly this season but was also subject to death by a thousand cuts, ie no backing in Jan and being briefed against in Feb. He was a dead man walking from Christmas time which MWJ has confirmed by saying he would have been out in May in any event. Bit of a mess really but I have reasonable confidence we can recover
  20. Johnson is a rather limited player but when we gets the basics right is a very good enforcer in midfield, however when we gets the basics wrong he looks like a bit of a pub player, his distribution is never that good though it doesn''t tell the whole story. His form when he played the first 4 or 5 matches was pretty awful to be honest, and he had to be really pretty awful before he got dropped, there is no player sitting on the sidelines in the club who will make a massive difference to what is an improving whole... The real problem is the injury to E Bennett as Snodgrass has no real pressure bearing on him despite some very iffy performances...
  21. Surely that'' the answer in a nutshell, he comes from a team that is used to 80% possession in a v poor league to a team that is lower mid table and has to scrap for most things especially away on Saturday. He doesn''t look like he can play as a target man and would be better in the hole, trouble is we had no target man fit apart form Becchio who the Manager does not rate at all. He was not hiding but was hardly foraging for the ball either.
  22. How about driving you off the Board you flip flopping fool. Chris Hughton is a man of absolute integrity, if we do have to sack him it will be a very sad day for the Club. He is guilty of negative tactics and perhaps some loss of direction but he does not deserve this pathetic thread
  23. Sorry to rake over this one again but I can''t let this attempt to rewrite history suceed. Unless both club statements of Dec 12 were wrong, the Vile paid us compensation which we then passed some onto Judas as payment for as part of his contract widely believed to be a bonus for keeping us up. Why the hell would they pay us compensation if we sacked him at the outset. I am not ruling out that we gave him a final push when he demanded to speak to them when the Chairman was out of the country at a few hours notice but you are hinting or talking or us firing him without due cause. We did not pay him the remainder of his contract, please get your facts right. He is one unpleasant individual, I think we knew he was a bit of a wanker when he left Colchester but we all and I count myself amongst them drew a line under that for the sake of achievements on the field. Although being charged for imaginary sex offences is a bit bizarre I wish him nothing but ill in his football career
  24. I agree that the away performances are unacceptable but apart from September 2012, a week in late April and perhaps now we have not been looking down at the barrel ie looking in relegation trouble not just playing dour stuff. I don''t think the point re the 10 game run is valid, did we have refereeing decisions, did we score deflected goals, were the other teams suffering an injury crisis? No, no and no again that I can recall
  25. Are you joking? At least the present Manager for his faults has some honour, you are aware I take it that mumbling Judas very nearly walked to 2 clubs (at the very least) both below us in the table, and trying to sue us when he had done the dirty on us just shows that its about Paul Lambert 1st 2nd and 3rd. His lack of decency was again apparent yesterday when he had to salute his fans when most managers would have thought that was a tad provocative Fuck off and don''t come back
