  1. Another symptom of the lack of Chairperson and CEO not being in place. Too much working in silos and initiatives going off half ****. Come on Smith & Jones, sort it out.
  2. Update after Hibs took up option on Bushiri. No idea what the option fee was, but unlikely to have troubled the transfer budget.
  3. Update after Hibs took up option on Bushiri. No idea what the option fee was, but unlikely to have troubled the transfer budget.
  4. This is what currently faces Smith in terms of squad development and EFL squad rules (I've posted in another thread but think it useful here as well). As I said on the other thread I do think there is a lot of churn from hereon in, with at least 7 being moved on. Bailey is very much on my page!
  5. As I've said they have seen that happen before and the fans have never had a real say in the running of the club despite the impressive community links they have developed. For instance a former owner Paul Woolhouse did a runner to South America when the authorities came calling after a "few" of his businesses collapsed due to fraud in the 80's. I think he escaped using cash he had pilfered from the club. Some Norwich fans think Delia is on a par FFS! You'd have thought once bitten twice shy, but it highlights the problems of private ownership and the desperation of people when they decide to give up owning a football club. The Blades are one club where the golden share rule would be really beneficial, but as long as their shares continue to be held by one person, the football club becomes the football, as it were.
  6. Jesus, that Man City graph couldn't be more perfect if you drew it as part of a technical drawing exam! Pep really has them drilled!
  7. Most of my Blades mates have lost interest once they found out about Mauriss' adviser being a convicted criminal (see below from The Athletic)! Given the length of the EFL's fit & proper person's enquiry, it points to things being very complicated. Let's say the excitement we Norwich fans have for even a small investment from Attanasio, is now a lot more than the excitement or interest being shown by Blades fans in Sheffield for Mauriss' bid. They have, TBF, seen it all before over the years.
  8. Maybe our new CDM, Hayden, can have a word with Cantwell? Here is his view of talented players screwing their careers up versus his progress as a less talented player. “There are players that should’ve made it. If they had my mentality and belief they’d be much better players than me, but sometimes they don’t have that."
  9. Back on subject, I found this video really enlightening. Hayden seems extremely impressed with Colney, especially the improvements from when he visited with Arsenal youth. And what a team they had at the time, but our team won the Cup that year. Extremely encouraging look at Hayden, and Colney. If only the Board meetings were this transparent? 😉
  10. First I've heard of such arguments, but as others have said my echo chamber is t'other side of world from yours. If people within the club want to publicise their views on the issue, let them get on with it, you can choose to ignore it. Strangely, 3 "English football team fans" were arrested in Germany the other night for raising a Nazi salute. They may not have been if they had realised that in that country it is seen as a criminal offence. Makes you wonder what else they need to learn, but also how are they going to receive that learning. All this "anti-wokeness" is incredibly tedious and boring. But you won't hear that because your echo chamber is t'other side of the world from mine.
  11. I've just finished the biography of Stalin I've been reading (highlighted in a previous thread) - the above MO seems vaguely familiar.
  12. They could always just pop down to Burton, or up to Mansfield or Chesterfield, Stoke or Port Vale if desperate. And obviously not mentioned Forest, but there is always County. All within 20 minutes or so. If Norwich went completely different picture! 😉
  13. Thanks Repman, I have taken your table and updated it for Hayden's signing and to meet the EFL squad definition in order to better see what it might look like for squad registration purposes. This hopefully makes it easier to see that following Hayden's signing we do now have to move someone on or they will be sitting on their hands all season as far as the EFL is concerned. I suppose you could, say, just have McGovern for instance for cup matches, but more realistically I've updated my suggestion that the following movements may occur: Outs: Krul, McGovern, Aarons, Cantwell, Famewo, Bushiri, Hugill. Ins: one GK, one CB, one CAM, one striker, one at least of whom needs to be home grown. This would still leave two spaces available to reach the EFL named squad limit, so I've probably been over zealous here!
  14. You just make it bigger ..... and hope they can afford to buy a seat....
  15. There would only be one scenario that I would sell and that is the one under the plc takeover code where an incoming investor reached the magic 90% figure and was able to take up their option to buy the remaining minority shareholders at the best price they had paid for shares up to that point. At that point you could argue that the best price to that date was no longer the "going rate", but below the latter, but under Companies Act law it would be the only rate payable.
  16. I for one wouldn't sell under this plan! Just saying, and think there would be many like me. I'll only sell if I have no other choice.
  17. Going to our refurbished local for the first time since completion - it still doesn't have TV's, but does have a great juke box!
  18. I wasn't sure if they qualified by experience! 😅 So revised conclusion: 27 qualify for named squad, of which 11 homegrown, 10 u21's at least. With my guess at churn: Outs: Krul, McGovern, Aarons, Cantwell, Famewo, Bushiri, Hugill. Ins: one GK, one CB, one CDM, one CAM, one striker, two at least of whom need to be home grown.
  19. That's quite a good observation. I'd say the first looked like he meant it, but you could argue it came slightly off the side of the boot (the spin you mentioned). The second, he had worked quite hard to find a good shooting position (there could have been an argument to have taken it earlier but the chances of success would have been less), so in the end it was an old fashioned laces through the ball, he probably should have managed to bury it without it hitting the defender so again did it come slightly off the side of the foot? I'd have to watch both again, but I saw them on twitter and again the feed is blocked.
  20. Unfortunately my search of net only brings up blocked sites from Luxembourg! But yes, they were both well taken. The first thumped into top corner from about 10 yards after a ball from the right wing found him in space on the left hand side of the penalty area; the second he got the ball on the right hand side, cut in, dummied, nearly got the ball caught up in his feet, composed himself before shooting into the left hand corner off of a defenders knee. Given Chumps defending suggests he does have an eye for a goal so may be worth holding on to. But it was only Lithuania.
  21. So, by my reckoning those in bold below contribute to the 25, except those that are in bold italics are "Home Grown". A little key too: Blue players are U23's that have been part of matchday squads in the 2021-22 season, players in purple are returning from loans.Goalkeepers: Krul(33), Gunn(26), McGovern(37), Barden(22), other players in U23's not listed here.RB: Aarons(22), Byram(28, 29 in Sep), Mumba(20).LB: Giannoulis(26), McCallum(21).CB: Hanley(30), Gibson(29), Zimmermann(29), Omobamidele(19, 20 later this month), Tomkinson(20), Famewo(23), Bushiri(22),CM (CM/DM): McLean(30), Lees-Melou(29), Sorensen(24), Gibbs(19), plus promising U23 players like Adshead who are yet to feature.AM/Wing: Rashica(25, 26 this month), Cantwell(24), Tzolis(20), Placheta(24), Dowell(24), Hernandez(29), Martin(20, 21 in Sept), Springett(19), Rowe(19), Sinani(25),Strikers: Pukki(32), Idah(21), Sargent(22), Hugill(30), Soto(21, 22 in July). Again, a few strikers in the U23's, Kamara(19) has been in training videos and I think match day squads. Others have been out on loan and are yet to show if they are ready for first team action. So by my reckoning 27 contribute to the maximum, of which 13 are homegrown, potentially not as bloated as I thought, but with 10 U21's scope for filling the bench at all times too. At least as it stands 2 of the above will miss out on being named in the squad all things being equal and at least 3 will miss out to allow for one new over 21 to come in. Homegrown does not seem to be a major issue, although if at least 3 go who are all homegrown, the pressure then increases on the next incoming to be home grown too! So it would seem likely that at least 3 of the named squad will be moved on / released. I actually previously thought a net 5 outflow would result, maybe that is now only a net 2. A fairly harsh first guess: Outs: Krul, McGovern, Aarons, Cantwell, Famewo, Bushiri, Hugill. Ins: one GK, one CB, one CDM, one CAM, one striker, of which one minimum has to be home grown. Let the games begin.
  22. Thanks for your view. I've edited your response to key points if your reply. Whilst respectful that NCFC is a small public company, it is probably "more public" than most and as such should at least project strong governance, but also a strong respect for the community it serves. I'd argue that your reply is a cynical view that a few plc's hold, but not many nowadays given the way the authorities have imposed tougher regulation on the corporate sector. To include Norwich in the former, from a fans perspective I'd argue is unacceptable, raising the potential of that last part of the above happening. So I'd argue adhering to the guidance on corporate governance in the full spirit of the legal advice is good for the club and the shareholders. And that is why I still am uncomfortable about the lack of a chairperson and CEO. We obviously differ in this. Let's see how the current negotiations with Attanasio affect things.
