1.
I am shocked and disappointed in what some people think of Huckerby, he is a city legend. Yes he hasn`t performed this season to his usual high standards, but i believe that is mainly due to his hip problem not his age and yes he does have to adapt to the change but he is still a match winner. I just hope when he does go he is given the respect he deserves and a send off similar to Iwans that we can be proud of, it is just a shame if this is his last season with us he won''t finish with Norwich in such a similar way.
I couldn''t agree more with your post. Like I said the other day : Of course Huckerby is no longer the player he used to be. You don''t have to be a genius to recognise that as a player moves inexorably into his 30''s, especially a player such as Hucks, the legs start to go. Not only that but is is a well known fact that he he hasn''t been fully fit for some time. However, he still has much to offer both in terms of his experience but also as a "super sub" who could come on with, say, 20 minutes to go, give it his all for that short space of time, force the other side into a radical change of tactics and turn the game. Let''s also not forget the debt of loyalty that we owe him. I''m not saying that we should keep him on only through a sense of loyalty. Of course, that would be idiotic but don''t turn on him when, finally,  he no longer has enough to offer. Anyway, my opinion is that, for the reasons already stated, we and the club  should continue to back him as long as he continues to want our backing ....... and he may not !
 2. CW : "It feels really good to start the New Year by stuffing those Canaries from Norfolk, I owed them one.... . or two for that matter". The Rodent : "I''m not going to allow anyone to say that my players didn''t give it their all today" OR CW : "Same old Norwich, biased ref, we dominate the game from start to finish and they nick two lucky goals. The assistant linesmen (sic) were wearing green and yellow glasses for our disallowed goal and we should have had at least three pens".    The Rodent : "I''m not going to allow anyone to say that my players didn''t give it their all today".

 4.

I don''t understand this?? How can a club get the best price for a player... I thought they all had release clauses... Surely we have triggered that...
Perhaps Brum don''t have to offer release clauses to get decent players to join them. Release clauses are only requested when a player thinks he can move on up to a higher league and higher pay. I would be very surprised if Taylor had one. What gets me about this thread as the way people jump to attack Brum for doing what we would do in a similar position. If we were forced to let someone go for a lower price than we thought acceptable just think what would be said on this forum.
Oh no they''re not ! Release clauses are mandatory for players joining Norwich so they can leave for whatever reason they wish at whatever price threshold they deem suitable i.e., the lower the better.
 5.
I don''t understand this?? How can a club get the best price for a player... I thought they all had release clauses... Surely we have triggered that...
No, no, no you''ve got it all wrong Johnnyboy, it''s only Norwich players that are allowed to have release clauses.
 6. I was there yesterday  ! Reason for post is to say that we parked near to a car with a Norwich sticker on read window. Is the owner the same guy who phoned Canary Call after the Scunthorpe match ?
 7.
There is no pot mate. We don''t have any money to spend. We may get a few extended loans but unless the Turners agree to put up some more cash I can''t see us actually paying out for anyone.
I agree with you regarding the Turners but what is so perplexing about this is why did they get involved in the first place ?
 8. All jolly good stuff but doesn''t the Taylor transfer failure indicate we don''t have any money ?
 9. Given our Board''s track record, I have no doubt that Karen Brady is telling the truth and that it was made clear to NCFC that BCFC were not interested in extending the loan (through fear of injury) unless concurrently a firm deal was also struck whereby Taylor automatcially became a NCFC platyer when the transfer window re-opened. My guess is that Glenn Roeder was not told the whole truth by the Norwich Board which is why he has come out and said what he has. The words "being economical with the truth" always come to my mind when I have read the various Directors'' utterances over the years.
 10. Of course the Club should have matched QPR''s offer. Taylor had become a talisman. To have kept him would have sent the most positive of messages to existing pleyers at the Club, loanees in particular, players outside the Club who Roeder may want to persuade to come to Norwich and, of course, the fans. Not to have matched QPR''s offer and see him go back to Brum was the worst possible, negative message to send to everyone. £1.25 million ? Can anybody tell me what the point of the Turners is and why they wished to get involved in the first place ?
 11. Due to confusion with The Pink ? Hopefully, just a rumour.
 12.
I missed it at the game (as I had my head in my hands, thinking we''d conceded a valid equaliser) but did anyone see on The Championship this morning the footage of Sharp running down in front of the Barclay giving it the finger to the lips "Shhhhh" gesture? And then celebrating in front of the Shef Utd fans still oblivious to the linesmans flag? Well can I just say HA HA HA!! Made yourself look a total arse there mate.
You beat me to it, I was just about to post "What about Shh Shhh Shhhhush Sharpe" !! Sharpe by name but thick as Sh_t.
 13.

and she responded without malice or spite "well, there''s nothing else to do in Norfolk, is there ?!"
She''s never been tyo Wigan then.... or Swindon.....or Rochdale....or.....
Let''s be clear about this. She didn''t say that Wigan, Swindon or Rochdale were more intersting places, did she ?!
 14.
I think you do Norfolk a disservice. There''s lots of other alternative excellent local sporting opportunities: top-level speedway and banger racing, as well as world championship indoor bowling at the right time of year. Those three for starters could hardly be called dull, now could they?
That was tongue in cheek, wasn''t it Grando ?! It must have been............... surely. Please tell me it was.
 15. As I sat reading the paper, sipping my coffee, I murmured more to myself than to my partner " another big crowd at Carrow Road I see" and she responded without malice or spite "well, there''s nothing else to do in Norfolk, is there ?!" My first reaction was one of indignation but then after a moment''s reflection I thought ''many a true word said in gest'' and wondered if perhaps she had hit upon some hurtful truth. What do you lot think ? Why do we have have such a large number of season ticket holders, 20K plus, why do we turn up week in week out, year after year despite the truly dreadful performances by the team, by the Board and by the owners over the last few years ? Granted, things appear to be on the up and I am as excited as everyone but why such big crowds pre-Roeder ?
 16.

This is one of those fatuous debates whcih rears its ugly head from time to time. A pointless issue as far as I am concerned but here it is again. Of course we are not a big club, we are a mighty fine club and one which I will always back to the hilt because it''s in my blood.............. but a big club ? Of course not. In any case, who cares ? What does "big" mean ? Does it always mean better ? I think not. However, as most people on this MB recognise big clubs include Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle and so on. Clubs our size include West Brom, West Ham, Birmingham, Ipswich etc. To quote from the Fast Show : as simple as that.
I know where you`re coming from and there`s nothing more annoying than those Wolves/scum/Sheff.U. fans you come across who bang on about being sleeping giants, massive clubs, look at the history blah, blah. I`d never want City fans to be like that, but then equally annoying are the many City fans i have met who have a massive inferiority complex and view the club as "little Norwich from the country" striving against the odds against hordes of bigger clubs. They seem to treat the fact we attract far bigger crowds than most of our competitors as some kind of unfathomable anomaly. And yes i do include Delia and the board in that group. We clearly have a larger, more loyal support than many clubs who are supposedly bigger than us and more importantly, we obviously have the catchment area and potential to grow further. We have a right to "think big" for the future (i mean becoming an established Prem side), clubs like Watford-whilst i admire their ambition-are kidding themselves.
I agree that by any standard Norwich City supporters are definitely in the top quartile of the most loyal in the country if measured by attendance/capacity ratio but if you add in the "constantly being let down but keep turning up in droves" factor then we must be the most loyal in the country. Easy to turn up every other week when your team is currently or always successful or on a winning run but when fans such as Norwich supporters experience years of utter, disembowelling, constant disappointment but still fill the ground you have got to hand it to them. I say "them" because I live so far from Norfolk now that I only manage to attend a few away/home games a season. The funny thing is I still haven''t got over the numbing disappointment of the "prudence with ambition" policy which saw Crouch go to Soton for £2M when he should have been retained at Norwich and relegation for the Premier at the first attempt ! Ah well, you can''t keep raking over hot coals even though the flipping people who put them are still stoking the stove.

 19.

I actually think we''re a great club, but hey that''s not allowed now is it?
Couldnt agree more Dicky i think we are a great CLUB to. Shame others dont see it that way if you get my drift mate.
Nothing like a bit of pathos, is there ?! Of course all of us who post on here, including Old Salt, think that Norwich is a great club. If we didn''t think that then we wouldn''t have any passion, wouldn''t care and therefore wouldn''t bother posting on this MB.It is exactly because I love our club that I get so damn angry at the incompetent and unambitious way it has been run. Like everybody else, I have had to sit and watch a shocking decline over the last few years. The promotion year had been a long time a coming and I can clearly remember the excitement I felt when our return to the Premiership was confirmed and then the feeling of disquiet at the "Prudence with ambition" claptrap that so many fans accepted without question and then of course the start of the slide that continues unabated today. The fact that people like me criticise shows that they care - perhaps even more so than those who seem to believe that the act of criticising reflects disloyalty or, more stupidly, suggests that the critic is either a muppet or an Ipswich fan.

 21. Sorry JC but you evidently haven''t read my message. It is clear that I am not making the link you suggest but what is interesting is the usual abuse from posters like you i.e. you don''t agree, therefore I must be talking "rubbish" and told so. I find people like you rather sad and,on that note I''m off for a sandwich.
 22. Well said, Old Salt. Why posters take exception to the use of capital letters is beyond me especially as yours were only font size 10 so you weren’t exactly screaming more like making your point firmly but politely ! It’s content that’s important but the majority of posters on this MB can’t bear any criticism of our beloved Club. Dare to criticise and you are dismissed as a  “muppet” or “binner” . The problem is that it is the mentality of these very same fans, both posters on here and the large proportion of the 22K who turn up at Carrow Road every other week,  that to some extent is responsible for the mediocrity that we have now learned to accept as our lot. These fans have continued to chew contentedly on the cud of apathy as our Club declines and only spark into life to shout down anybody who puts their head above the parapet and says “hang on, things aren’t right at the Club”.  The fans are like shareholders (in fact I am a share and debenture holder of NCFC) of a company. If the company isn’t being run well, if profits and dividends are declining then the shareholders voice their disapproval. The fact is that our Club has been declining year on year now for the last 4 years and the unquestioning support of the majority many of whom shout down dissenters, however constructive, has only served to encourage this decline. After all, why should the Board risk investment in players when no one apparently seems to mind our rapid descent into mediocrity ?  “Prudence with ambition” exclaimed the Board and the majority murmured subserviently how wise this was. And look where it got us – straight out of the premier league and into the lower reaches of the one below.  More power to your elbow Old Salt.
 23.

Ralph Wright, we own a stake in the hotel.. the value of a stake goes down as well as up technically what BBFF says is true.. we could make millions from the hotel but we could make absolute zip.... where as a corner infil would guarentee revenue for the club jas :)
Jas, Although I''ve had to generalise somewhat, please have a look at the figures I''ve suggested on page 4 of this thread: http://www.pinkun.com/cs/forums/4/987784/ShowPost.aspx#987784 To summarise this, in theory, on average the hotel is likely to earn the club approx £225,000 per year in income (and this is based on a basic room cost of £75 per night, not including suite costs etc), on paper it''s a much better option, and also one that raises the potential and profile of the club. A corner infill is simply a few extra seats, whereas the hotel gives us the revenue along with many other options. IMHO, it''s a far better deal than many realise when you look into it in further depth.
I totally agree with this post. The income from the hotel will always be greater than the income that would have been generated from creating seats for more fans. Personally, I think that we should demolish the South Stand and replace it with an Asda supermarket and a Multiplex cinema. In fact, let''s have a competition to find the most lucrative money generating alternatives to seats for fans. We could do away with all the stands and, blimey, just think of the rental income that could be generated from building more blocks of flats on the pitch itself.
 24.
Dear Mr. Parkinson, I am a regular visitor to Colney and as such would like to reliably fill you in with a few pointers about Norwich City. The lad Marshall in goal loves a cross so if you get a corner don''t bother swinging it in because he''ll just snatch them out of the air for fun all day long. At the back the boy Otsembor is positively pedestrian so just knock balls past him and run. Don''t bother trying to turn Doherty who gives so little away it really won''t be worth practising free kicks from anything less than 35 yards this week. Drury will be injured until Friday and Shackell lacks pace. In midfield, Brellier and Russell are a pair of shrinking violets, Lappin thinks his left foot is for standing on and Croft needs additional marking in the first half. Up front, the boy Brown is scoring for fun so you should put two on him while the lad Cureton hasn''t a clue where the goal is. Hope this helps. Love. Rudolph.
It wasn''t until I read your 4th para that I knew for certain that your msg was a wind up !
 25.
We have finally sorted out the arrangements for the Brellier flag. The club has agreed for it to be displayed inside the ground so no problems there but they have come up with some ground rules. The flag must be flame retardant. We are getting this done but it wont be ready in time for either the West Ham or Arnhem game. It doesnt cover any adverts. It isnt passed over peoples heads - can you believe it they have had some complaints!!!! It may have to spend the match in the neutral zone between the away fans and the Jarrold depending on where you sit. As far away matches go, whoever takes it is responsible for it and any altercations with opposing stewards. NCISA cannot get involved in this. The flag will be available to all fans for the Preston game onwards. If you want to hire it, it will cost £5 (all money goes to the tactic zone) and £10 refundable deposit. It can be collected from the Cottage PH, Silver Road, Norwich 24 hours before the match and must be returned within 3 days. If you want to go ahead can you phone John Tilson on 01603 441461. You can prebook it as far in advance as you want but we will need the deposit and fee at the time of booking.
Blimey, are we really that bothered ?
