1. Silver Fox: Did you not read my post? I said I would REST the regulars against CHELSEA and CHELSEA ONLY because we stand no chance of winning even with our strongest team. This does not mean I would pick a youngster ahead of a proven player against one of the lesser teams because I don''t believe they give us a better chance of winning. I just think we may as well see this as a chance to rest the regulars, not drop them for a youngster, just rest them in a game where the outcome will be no different whoever we select in the starting XI.
2. My vote goes to: Robert Earnshaw - great pace, knack for goalscoring and goal celebrations but what is that face about??! I did debate whether to put our very own Mathias Svensson in there but Earnie just nudged him out...
3. I''d be tempted to play a reserve side against Chelsea because even with our full-strength side we''ll get caned, so why not rest the regulars - we have nothing to lose.
4.
Dear Worthy Nigelton, is your idea to bring in the youngsters once we look as though we are probably going down? I would like to think the reason we give youngsters pro contracts is because we do...
Silver Fox: This is my idea, bring the youngsters through at the right time for them and the right time for the club. Its not fair to throw them in to a struggling side and expect miracles. Its a kneejerk reaction. Don''t compare England youth teams with the Premiership please - the gulf is so extreme that its pathetic to even argue this point. England youth internationals do not always go on to play at the highest level, in fact a great number still go on to play in low leagues or semi-pro football. Zippers has it right, if they are good enough they are old enough - ours at the moment, probably aren''t good enough, thats not to say they never will be but it would be silly to throw them in now.
5. I really hate this. As soon as results aren''t exactly great, people call for "promising" youngsters to be given a chance and Worthy must be an idiot for not playing them. There is a reason they haven''t been given a chance and that is because the coaching staff believe they are not ready. People on this board are working on the assumption that these youngsters have been granted a pro-contract, therefore they must become good players... not true. Youth does not necessarily spell potential. Going through our youngsters I would say this: Henderson – one of the worst “talents” Colney has ever produced, stop going on about him he’s abysmal, nearly as bad as Shaun Carey. Shackell''s – in his case its difficult to blood a centre back in unless he is exceptional, because its a position where experience counts for a lot, so short term he isn''t the answer. Jarvis – he is only 18 and at that young age, (unless, again, they are exceptional ie Rooney, Owen, Ronaldo) they are not going to be as good as seasoned pro''s. Crow – See Jarvis I agree that long-term putting the youngsters in maybe a good idea, but this is a terrible idea if we want to stay in the Premiership. Its just a knee-jerk, panic decision.
6. Camberwick Green and Wiz: I also think we''re not a particularly good footballing side. As you said Camberwick, we do have this obsession with a "big bloke" up front and that does not encourage good football.
7. Svensson''s too slow for this level he''s not a bad player but he''s part of the reason we don''t look that threatening going forward. He''s got a good footballing brain but his legs are too slow and he''s appalling in the air. If we had a good striker beside Leon we would have a great chance of staying up, but as everyone has already pointed out good strikers cost about 3m quid and we won''t spend that (which I don''t blame the board for) so I think we''ll be going down I''m afraid...
8. For everyone who is bashing the NCFC board I would like to ask you this: Would you risk the financial future of Norwich City on somebody who has wasted money left, right and centre on the likes of Easton, Rivers, Emblem, Abbey, Doherty, Jonsson, Libbra, Nielsen, Briggs, Safri and dare I say it... Svensson? Now before you all shout "GIVE THEM A CHANCE" to the ''new'' players I''ve mentioned there, I realise that some of them do need a chance to bed in but going on what we''ve seen/they''ve done so far nobody can surely argue these have been poor signings (purely on their performances so far) Its fine moaning at the board but they''re are not spending it for a reason (because they haven''t got it probably) and with Worthy''s somewhat hit and miss transfer record I can''t say I blame them. I just don''t trust him in the transfer market... do you?
9. I think Bentley does give a toss, I just think sadly he''s not of the calibre we expected due to the hype surrounding him, but he does try.
10. Call me stupid but I don''t think 36 year old Gillingham reserves are the sort of players we should be looking at to be honest...
11. Well it looks like big Tommy H will be starting in the centre of midfield tomorrow and I for one am pleased. I don''t think anyone can blame Worthy for not starting Helveg as his form has been dire and you can''t pick somebody on reputation. However, Helveg has undoubted class and I really hope that he takes his chance tomorrow to show us all how good he really is. One thing that bothers me is that if he plays a couple of mis-placed passes early on the crowd will turn on him and it will be difficult for him to get the confidence he needs. So this is just to say "Get behind him and be patient - he''ll come good"
12. I think it was to stiffen up the midfield, Leon would have been dropped entirely had what happened with Damo been anything other than an accident. I don''t think I''d fancy a left hook from Leon to be honest with his family history, well maybe after a few Stella''s I''d fancy my chances and then realise when I woke up in the N & N that it wasn''t such a good idea...
13. Well we''re not a really small club but in terms of spending power we are.I personally think that if we can establish ourselves as a premiership outfit then the way forward will be to build a new ground...
14. Johnson is not a good idea, he hasn''t been very good since he broke his leg and to sign a player in his late 20''s who is unproven at the top level does not make sense.
15. I think they should do away with the Carling cup completely, its a waste of time, just give the extra UEFA cup spot to the next highest team in the league.
16. This is terrible news - he''s been our best player so far.I think I''d bring Safri in can''t afford to play Helveg in the centre of midfield in such a big game - what if he has a mare like against Everton? Its to much of an important position to risk it, if Helveg is to come back into the side it has to be at right-back but personally I don''t think he deserves his place at the moment... but thats not to say I''ve written him off completely, because I most definitely haven''t.So its Safri for me. Holt is a no as well, just think his confidence would be rock-bottom at the moment.
17. Take it that its the same Joey Gudjohnssen that played for Villa last year? That would be a pretty good signing I would think... if its correct. I was unaware he played up front as well though. I think I can remember him doing a horrific "Muscat would be proud" tackle on Matt Upson in the Brum derby last year, luckily Upson got out of the way.
18. Well Flem was originally a right-back I think you''ll find. So you could switch him back there and then bring in the Doc or Shacks. That reminds me, someone brought to my attention the other day that our defence consists of 4 full-backs... and we wonder why we struggle in the air at times!!
19. Can somebody please explain to me how calling Scottish people Jocks is racist??!! I thought it was just a slang term for Scots? Is there a histroy as to why they''re called Jocks? I can''t see a problem personally, its like the Welsh being called taffs or the English being called Limey''s or Poms, the Italians Wops, the Americans Yanks or the Germans Crouts - its just slang no offence is meant by it... Don''t be so touchy. I wouldn''t have a problem if someone me a pom or a Limey.
