  1. well not really. Not sure what it means but it''s odd that Charlton have the same goal diff, have only scored twice more than us and yet are sitting pretty in 11th with almost double the points. Surely that must be some cause for optimism in these dark times, maybe, please, ahem!
  2. "Sorry Pincer my friend, no pills or magic potions I''m afraid, just stupid postings and a belated realisation on my part, that we have a team and manager/board to be proud of. Maybe I should now call myself The reborn wizard!" I''m not picking on you Wizard i just couldn''t resist seeing what people were posting this time last last year and what should I find!
  3. Quote: Now I don''t mean this to sound patronising Spat, please believe me, I really don''t. And I''m trying to keep in mind that you are a very valuable junior poster. But, I find it slightly alarming that ... if you don''t want to sound patronising then why mention that I''m a junior poster? That has no bearing on the validity or otherwise of what i said, it just means i don''t have the time or inclination to reply to every thread or start new ones on the same topic when apparently finished. I don''t swallow everything the board says, but the course they are adopting seems to have reaped rewards so far, the hard evidence is there for all to see. I''m prepared to go with them until they prove otherwise rather than get depressed about a situation that hasn''t happened yet. Perhaps I''m just an optimist. What were you saying this time last year Mr Wizz?
  4. drinking? don''t need it with the tramazapam! Can''t afford it anyway now I''ve lost my house in a poker game. Apparently there will be a new section on the club site showing videos of Worthy fighting with different players each day. Anyway Greeno is out as far as I''m concerned, my grannie could have saved that shot on mon, and she''s 90. Sack em all and bring back the 93 team except with Danny Crow up front. Ive never seen him but he''s young and must be better than what we''ve got. wibble wibble
  5. I will be disappointed if not gutted if we''re looking like going down come Jan. But I won''t be moaning about lack of ambition if there''s no-one available who we can afford, who will add something to the squad. Perhaps it''s naive but i have a crazy idea that Worthy and the club want the same as we all do. Survival, both in the Prem and off the pitch.
  6. I''m absolutely outraged that we haven''t torn down the new Jarrold stand and the corner infill. They could raise a few quid in scrap. We could then put the amount of cash we have to spend out in a press release, just so everyone know''s we''re a serious club. I suggest getting together a list of strikers that coca-cola league clubs want to get shot of then spending the whole lot on one of them. This is mainly so that after a couple of games without scoring we can barrack the new striker and demand that Leon/Svenson/mcVeigh/Docherty etc was in fact the answer to our prayers all along.
  7. For God''s sake, how many times are we going to have the same thread! I would be more despairing if we''d shelled out a fortune on a bunch of un-proven coca-cola strikers or some aging has been rejects from other prem clubs and put ourselves up the proverbial creek without a paddle if it doesn''t come off. I certainly wouldn''t want us to be spending 6Mill on Harewood who''s only managed 5 goals in the fizzy league and hasn''t managed more than 10 per season in the last 4 or so. A lot of Doncaster''s statement is, IMHO, positioning the club for when the transfer window opens, both in terms of other clubs and possibly Worthington. They don''t want to appear to have plenty of cash to spend EVEN IF that''s not strictly true. Let''s wait and see, so long as we''re in touch with the rest of the possible relegation candidates come Jan then panic ye not.
  8. the report say nige will have "at least" 1.2 Million, which is what we knew. He may in fact have 3 Mill for instance. His interview is in all probability a message to the board as much as anyone else in an attempt to get some real cash. I suspect if we''re in touch by Jan, playing well in most areas, but likely to be still missing chances then a significant buy will happen.
  9. If he wanted a yellow, why on earth didn''t he catch the ball or some such, then wouldn''t have risked injuring another player. Selfish? Though of course isn''t every foul deemed to be deliberate?
  10. yes, seeing the lyrics has merely reminded us of how much of a tedious dirge it is that has little relevance the the majority of people in this country and just serves to remind most of us how small and meaningless we are to those that actually run this place. I want a national anthem that''s about the real people of this country who''ve strived to make it a better place not the ones who''ve done nothing but protect their own power through any means necessary. Always found it strange that the people who get most angry if anyone slags off the national anthem are just those who''ve got no power of any kind save that to live in neglected crime hotspots, work til they drop dead and pay for things that the rich should be paying for by playing the lottery in the vain hope they''ll escape their nasty little lives.
  11. hmm, I though Mr Huckerby turned Brom down as he thought Meggers played pap and in the flesh turned out to be a fairly unpleasant type too.
  12. Charlton to give height at corners, ey? he''s only 5''8"! Fleming''s been one of our most consistent players, dropping him''s madness unless he''s injured.
  13. part of the sponsorship deal I bet. Agreed tho, away kit''s a bit grim.
  14. How is it constructive critisism to have have Delia out posts and suggest Worthy will have to go if we don''t win in 3 games type drivel? Critisising players, tactics, suggesting formatins etc, that is constructive.
  15. ho hum, was wondering how long it would take for this kind of rediculous post to appear. What we should do is start booing Worthington and the team as much as possible, that''ll help us get our first win. Of course delia too, then she''ll step down and we''ll get our money-bags chairman from oillykistahn instead who''s just waiting in the wings but being cruelly denied by skinflint Smith. Grow up, games like yesterdays were always going to happen at some point. Now I''m not happy with the diamond, but it''s early days, the majority of performances have been good and Worthy won''t persist if things don''t turn around. I agree that it''s very frustrating at the moment, especially with the selections (Holt argh!) but we just need to stay in touch with 4th at this time while everyone gets acclimatised. I don''t think Worthy will get the sack even if we go down. Chill!
  16. well sort of...I''m wondering if anyone from here sent that in to their funny but fairly dubious pornalike section!
  17. The message board is at http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/messageboard/ Comments about Robson and the fact that he spent a lot of time hanging about the portaloo are about right. He doesn''t seem to be able to remember Green''s name, amazed he could bring himself to say Norwich. Oh well, maybe he can form a golden pairing with potato head in the fanta diet championship once Newcastle sack him.
  18. someone posts on the Newcastle board.... Goffy from Fleckney 07:32:53 AM 26 August 2004 Firstly, congratulations to Norwich who thoroughly deserved at least a point - they out-passed and out-worked us. Only Bellamy showed the appetite by word and deed that we would expect from a team wearing black and white. The spectre of "Ridsdale" looms large as our chairman seems intoxicated by the bright lights/trying to pplay at the high stakes table.Let''s get back to basics...defenders who can DEFEND,midfielders who can PASS and TACKLE,strikers who can SCORE, and 11 men who are a HARD WORKING UNIT.Bobby talked utter bull after the game last night."Little" Norwich,AND THEIR MANAGER,taught us a lesson and we shouldn''t be so arrogant that we don''t take note!
  19. I was at the Everton game, and as stated here before, heard some people chanting "rather be a pa*i than a scouse. I think the article on the Everton site is reasonably fair, ALL clubs have some idiots at them, we''re no different and to make out we are is naive and counterproductive. I sat at the Burnley game near a guy who spent the entire match screaming homophobic rubbish and I''ve seen him before coming out with the same, is that so different? There were a group of blokes near us coming out with anti Italian comments aimed at Ravanelli at derby last season. There are far worse clubs and i''ve been going for 30 years and can recall only a couple of racist chants, but it does go on. We''d be better off accepting that and dealing with it rather than sticking our heads in the sand and raking it over and over in the national press. I''m saying this not to tarnish city''s good name but because we''ve a reputation (and rightly so) for having a great set of fans (just ask the shocked birmingham supporters after the playoff final) and I want that reputation to continue.
  20. It seems that Pompey fans have done themselves proud this season and shown the "big" clubs how to support your team. Let''s all make sure we get the same comments for city, it might make the difference in points between UEFA cup and champions league too!
  21. I was shocked to see that Nigel was yet again unhappy about about a referee''s decision that turned the game, just when they were about to stick another 3 past Derby too, no doubt. I suggest if the players start to get the jitters they should just stick a picture of Nigel''s bloated, ruddy face up in the changing room and that should work a motivational miracle.
  22. I used to know a Mr and Mrs Stitts who had a daughter called Norma ;-)
  23. I heard some morons chanting "I''d rather be a paki than a scouse", though couldn''t see who it was, it didn''t sound like too many and it happened only once. Hopefully because no-one else joined in and they realised how pathetic it was.
