  1. With increasing movement of economic migrants (some people still insist on calling them asylum seekers) from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland, if Ireland can bring in emergency legislation to return them to the North, why on earth can’t we pass similar emergency legislation to return them to France?
  2. The curry houses are good, particularly the cafe-style ones used by the locals which do good food for a reasonable price. I hope to visit one before the match. But after the game I think any of our fans who leave the ground shouting, chanting or generally celebrating being in the play-offs (hopefully) run a real risk of coming a cropper at the hands of some of Birmingham’s less than friendly supporters. Discretion and anonymity will definitely be the order of the day.
  3. The luxury of a window of a few days is optimistic. Our home leg of the play-offs would only be a week after the Birmingham game so the ticket office will be extremely busy trying to sort it all out in a very short space of time.
  4. Hope you’re all looking forward to Birmingham next week as much as I am. Without the luxury of knowing the other scores, we have to get something from the game to guarantee the play-offs. Problem is that Birmingham need to win to give themselves a realistic chance of not being relegated as a draw would only put them level with Plymouth who currently have a better goal difference. So if they go down, the locals might not be best pleased and the vicinity of St Andrews could be a bit lively after the game. Not greatly relishing my walk back to New Street Station! No colours for me on Saturday.
  5. I’m not a gambling man, but I’d have thought the odds would be considerably lower than that.
  6. 7 goal swing is perfectly possible. Hope Wagner and the team aren’t counting their chickens. We need a solid performance at Brum.
  7. You are Emily Thornberry and I claim my £10.
  8. One or two commenters have already come out with the tired old “St George was Turkish” or “St George was Palestinian” put down: https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/04/23/the-mindless-snobbery-of-the-st-george-was-turkish-brigade/
  9. Yes, that’s very true. Stouts aside, my main issue with trendy craft ales claiming to be IPAs is that they all taste of grapefruit.
  10. I understand other stouts are available. Just not very widely.
  11. Nothing made up. It’s been going on for the last 20 years or so.
  12. Back in the times of Dimbleby and Robin Day it was a serious political programme that was compulsory viewing, but Fiona Bruce is a dreadful host who interrupts and hectors the panelists virtually as soon as they start to give their answers. Despite the BBC claiming that the audience is carefully chosen to provide a balance of views, it’s well known that the selection process is abused by organised groups of left wing activists to ensure that they are in the majority and this is obvious from the incessant booing and cat-calling of any centrist or right of centre panelist and the pathetic whooping and cheering whenever a left-wing speaker comes out with some facile progressively populist comment. As with Newsnight, the BBC has managed to dumb-down a once great programme and render it pointless and unwatchable.
  13. I see the Belgian Courts overruled the Mayor, told him to wind his neck in, and allowed the conference to resume.
  14. So as I suggested, not dissimilar to Stop Funding Hate and with the same aims as the Mayor(s) of Brussels.
  15. Presumably the Global Disinformation Index is yet another group of self-righteous activists who see it as their right to try to stifle any voices and opinions they don’t agree with, not unlike Stop Funding Hate and the Mayor(s) of Brussels.
  16. How about a quarter-quarter-quarter-quarter scarf to celebrate our (hopefully) reaching the play-offs? I’ll get my coat…
  17. Forest Green relegated. Conclusive proof that a vegan diet isn’t good for you!
  18. Ah, but have they made it illegal to grow your own tobacco? Perhaps they’ll allow up to three plants for personal consumption!
  19. With this smoking ban it doesn’t look like the UK will be legalising weed anytime soon!
  20. Talking of being linked with extremists, I see the Mayor of Brussels was seemingly happy to host the Mayor of Tehran. https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1888954/natcon-shut-down-brussels-mayor-iran
  21. Regardless of what people might think of Farage, Braverman et al, the Brussels Mayor ordering the police to close down the NatCon Conference is chilling. It should be remembered that this conference was held last year in London without the slightest problem. You can be vehemently against what the speakers might have had to say, but to shut it down on political grounds because you don’t like their legitimate views is disgraceful. It should be called out for what it is: red fascism. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/national-conservatism-conference-brussels-shut-down-police-b2529501.html https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/04/16/rishi-sunak-latest-news-smoking-ban-simon-clarke-liz-truss/ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/16/belgian-mayor-natcon-conference-braverman-farage-brussels
