1.
People aren''t stupid- I don''t think most people think money on its own is the answer. But no money is also not the answer. Simply put, the ''self funding'' model put us at a competitive disadvantage. That is just the way it is. How possible it is to overcome this disadvantage with coaching, scouting, tactics etc etc is open to debate.
Spot on....
 2. Somebody are clearly obsessed with Delia... It''s a pity we as a progressive club are not allowed to see who potential owners are and that it is being kept as a family play thing. I always want the best for my club and I understand how somebody are scared of change.. different views.. spice of life and all that...
 3.
Whatever your personal opinion of how good as owners Delia and Michael have been, I think it''s hard to argue that things are unlikely to improve at the point when the club is in the hands of Tom. He doesn''t, as far as I''m aware, have a large amount of disposable income he can draw on to supplement the club, and so our financial (and therefore probably footballing) situation is likely to either deteriorate or, at best, stagnate. I foresee a situation at some point not far down the line after inheriting the club where, in a much worse position, he is forced to sell to any bidders who will have us. It would be much better if Delia and Michael were actively looking for responsible long-term investors now, ones who have a decent amount of wealth behind them that can take the club forward. Of course they are perfectly entitled to leave the proceeds of that sale to their nephew - or whoever else they want to at that point. However, in the event that Tom does inherit the club as leading share owner then I can only see this resulting in a fire-sale sooner-rather-than-later down the line. Who knows though, maybe D&M think this too and are looking around for new investment? But I live in hope more than expectation.
Spot on...
 4. Clearly running a club at a £5m deficit every week is just plain stupid and no one in their right mind would want this. £120m in 2 years and they did not get promoted. WOW! Mismanagement on an epic scale. Doesn''t change my view one iota. Good & bad owners, investment will 100% make you more likely to succeed. Delia, Tom not good for our future...
 5.
I don''t know about you but a replacement for Maddison when i am still waiting for likes of Holt and Jerome to be replaced. Oh sorry i forgot we signed Srbeny.
Looking at the video Maddison put up, it''s amazing the amount of chances we missed on the back of great work from him... it is the one position (we need at least two decent players in) that will make of break next season. Srbeny is not good enough 100%. New lad looks to have bags of potential & I hope he fills it at City.
 6.

Holding Villa out as an example of why we are lucky we don;t have foreign owners is not appropriate and to be honest even if they do now "implode" as looks possible, they will still probably be battling it out with us mid table in the championship until they get bought by someone else. Big to medium sized football clubs just don''t go bust and disappear. Cov and Portsmouth are probably the worst case scenarios and both of them probably have a decent chance of being above us in a few years time.
Wait, so we shouldn''t use Villa as an example of why rich foreign owners don''t necessarily work but in the same breath you can claim that two examples of badly run football clubs in the past ''have a decent chance'' of being above us? Even though they''re not above us? Or even in the same league? Bizarre.
I think the point Jim is making is that not all "foreign" owners are bad (which you seem to imply with every post... why is that?) and not all British / English owners are good. There are good and bad on both sides and we happen to think that a good owner with finance is likely to be more successful than one without, eg Fulham. We also think that if Delia had the best interests of the club at heart she would look for good owners that could help out on the finance front, which would see us potential keep the best player we have had in the past decade for another season (I understand clubs like NCFC eventually have to accept offers when it is too good). I do not think Delia & co are good owners, I think they are holding us back or at the very least making us uncompetitive. But Delia owns the club and is unwilling to listen to other offers so irrelevant.
 7. The casual racism on here whilst celebrating the selling of our best player says a lot about some on the people on here... Villa looks like a basket case but what about Wolves, Leicester, Cardiff, Fulham... As I said its about good and bad owners and most successful owners have financial banking. New Argentine signing gives hope though so every cloud...
 8.
Also from the Sky report: "Tony Xia, a Chinese businessman, bought Villa from Randy Lerner in 2016 but is reported to have held talks with potential buyers in recent days." So much for this particular stinking rich owner then.
There are good and bad owners. Most successful owners tend to have a bit of capital and don''t sell their prize assets every season to survive.
 9. I find these "filthy rich Chinese" comments frankly childish and a bit xenophobic, a bit like that Times article. It not about a filthy rich Chinese owner it''s about a decent competent owner of any nationality who is willing to try and take the club forward. I would harass a guess that Villa will pay any bills and will be more competitive than us next season(I hope they are not). Meanwhile, the best player we have had in a decade is been sold to a club/ clubs we use to to be on a level with at the very least (Leicester / Fulham)... Go Delia!
 10. They are actively selling him as we speak.... Like I have always said, I for one will be properly p**sed off when he is sold. Best player we have had in ages sold to plug a hole in our finances because our owners misspent the best chance to stay in the top flight in my time watching the club! Have no faith that what money they do have will be spend well.
 11. Fit and raring to go.... commentating on Scum games... if he was a horse he would have been put down
 12. I liked Middleton the number of times I saw him play and was surprised we let him go. I wish him well..
 13.
"Others moving on would not really merit an announcement." I dunno, I''d thrown an open top bus parade if we could shift Jarvis and Naismith.
I''ll hire and drive the bus...
 14.
It appears Bristol City still want Marley Watkins but in all seriousness with NO looking like a bad apple in the barrel and Morris likely to be out until the new year a move to one of our Championship rivals could leave us with just my mate Srbeny on the books. [:P]
It''s the one area that will make or break our season next year. I hope Webber is as good as he thinks he is....
 15. Will be another sad day when Maddison is sold.. I for me will be gutted
 16. Happy with 10th? Really? Would be nice to see them disappear into league one though... Don''t reckon they will as Hurst seems to know what he is doing... Anything less than 6th will be massively disappointing and a failure of the glorious revolution we ''all'' asked for...
 17. Maddison for me... 14 goals & 8 assists to Grealish''s 3 goals & 6 assists all been it that Grealish only played 31 times (9 as sub) to Madders 49 (2 as sub). Madders has a better pass rate too. Madders scores more, passes better & has a better attitude. Villa have put the £40m tag on Grealish, as I am guessing, they do not want to sell him but he probably wants a move.
 18.

The Maddison money will go to funding the gap in finance caused by our relegation from the premier league whilst under the ownership of Delia & co.
After promotion TO the premier league whilst under the ownership of Delia & co.
It will go to pay all staff whether players or not, it will go to paying for the upkeep of the stadium etc. All the bills previously covered by the premier league payout.
Er, don''t ALL clubs have those expenses?
It will go to paying for the horrendous wages of Jarvis, Naismith etc.
But you said they don''t invest in the first team, now you''re saying they''ve invested too much....
But the £20m (if that is in fact what we get) will not all go to strengthen the 1st team. The 1st team budget will get cut and the players we attract will not be of the calibre we have enjoyed.
That applies to all relegated teams. However. the new players may actually be better. For example, would you want Ollson back to replace Lewis?
I won''t be "happy" with any amount as I do not trust this board to spend that money wisely.
Was signing Hanley, Zimmerman, Trybull, Vrancic, Hernandez and re-signing Tettey unwise?
Delia and co also took us to the third tier of football for the only time in my lifetime... They got lucky with Lambert in my opinion. There was no great plan as there is none now. All clubs do have those expenses but still invest more than we can into the 1st team... You know that so not sure why you would deny it. As owners they are responsible for the appalling transfer policy that showed us panic buying in January after failing to land targets in the summer... If they had the centre back at the right time we may well have stayed up. I hope the new signings get better and Lewis is a great prospect... The 14th place and the dreadful football doesn''t bode well. The squad need investment up front and on the goal scoring front. Getting rid of someone who had a hand in or scored 49% of our goals is not how I would go about it. Great discussing this with you... Think we will have to agree to disagree... You are happy with the club as it is, I am not.
 19.
The point is no one has claimed that Delia and Wyn are investing so it is merely a distraction on your part to ask for any evidence to that claim.Whereas you have stated "Past history tells us the majority will not go on the first team."You have been asked to provide evidence of thatShould we assume that your failure to back that claim amounts to it actually being a lie.
The Maddison money will go to funding the gap in finance caused by our relegation from the premier league whilst under the ownership of Delia & co. It will go to pay all staff whether players or not, it will go to paying for the upkeep of the stadium etc. All the bills previously covered by the premier league payout. It will go to paying for the horrendous wages of Jarvis, Naismith etc. But the £20m (if that is in fact what we get) will not all go to strengthen the 1st team. The 1st team budget will get cut and the players we attract will not be of the calibre we have enjoyed. Archant as has been said, are now "buttering" up the fans to expect this and running a "what price would you be happy" article... I am NEVER happy losing our best players. I won''t be "happy" with any amount as I do not trust this board to spend that money wisely.
 20.
"food etc. It''s declining, that is their fault"or perhaps ourswe must eat more
On that front Delia & co are probably doing their bit... Good job I did not mention wine... (there again does she pay... no won''t go there...)
 21. "Does seem a shame that we would be celebrating losing Maddison, as a fan, i hope we keep him as long as possible and try build a promotion winning tesm around him but i am a realist and realise that we may be better off with the money. Under the current model, there really doesnt seem much hope of us getting back to the prem bar a fluke season or 2. We are in desperate need of investment." Exactly the point I am trying to make (not very well)
 22. Will gladly apologise if you can show me where they are investing? From what I know, they paid back all loans they gave the club? They may have put money into the academy bond but that is at an interest higher than you get in banks at the moment? They are currently not putting any money into the club, but by all means (now I have explained myself) tell me differently... If the model is now a continuing decline in the squad as we continually have a reduced budget you are happy with that? The money they "invest" is from us, player sales & merchandising , food etc. It''s declining, that is their fault.
