1. Here is an update. I just viewed a video on the canaries world website where they interviewed Worthy about his post match comments. Not once did he apologize for his remarks. It seems like the whole website thing was ideed scripted for him. He had a chance in the interview to set the record stright but didn`t. Those are the facts.
2.
WORTHY ON POST-MATCH COMMENTS CITY boss Nigel Worthington spoke to First News today about remarks made to BBC Radio Norfolk following the match against Reading at Carrow Road. Some supporters have...
I think he was forced to issue the apology. Even then he NEVER admits that in hindsight he may have made a mistake. He tries to justify his words (which were totally out of order) To me it reads "Im sorry if I offended anyone but I stick by what I said" Instead of "im sorry if I offended anyone, what I said was totally out of order" I am reading more and more "insiders" who say Worthy has lost the dressing room. Its easy to dismiss this kind of stuff but often there is no smoke without fire.
3. For the pinkun to not innclude the phrase "I don`t care what the fans think" is terrible journalism. Its just pure bias, at least they could have put it in context and given a reason he was annoyed. But no, they leave the phrase out all together. Pinkun, you should be ashamed. PS Is Dicky related to Worthington in any way as he seems to spend his whole time defending him rather than looking at the serious issues.
4.
Can somebody confirm where this was heard? because if it is true then i am very angry. We the fans are the club and without us there wouldn''t be a club, so worthy should never be coming out with somet...
Not only did he say it but he said it with anger. I heard it live on Radio Norfolk in his post match interview with Chis Goreham He had an oppotunity to apologize to the fans for the recent displays yet now he blames the fans because they have an opinion. Sorry Mr Worthington that the people who loyally lay down hard earned money every week have an opinion. I think he should issue an apology or resign (or be sacked)  The one thing I always admired about Delia and her husband is that they bring class to the club.  Last time I checked THEY are passionate fans of Norwich City, maybe Worthington doesn`t care what they think either. This outburst smacks of desperation. He has the horses but doesn`t know how to ride them. Sorry once you have lost the fans its time to go.
5. I think Worthington needs to issue an apology quickly. The fans ARE the club, without them you have nothing. A few days after we had a mid week turnout against a lower league team in the cup that most prem sides would dream of. I wouldn`t dream of speaking for Delia but I am sure she would feel that what he said was totally out of order. Worthy wants US THE FANS to get behind the team while at the same time saying " i don`t give a flying fudge what the fans think" I heard that on canary call and I was shocked to say the least. Can you imagine the CEO of McDonalds or any large company going on TV and saying he does not care what the customers think.
6. I used to enjoy Adams commentery but his recent defending of Flemming and other people at the club has been too much. Even Worthy doesn`t agree with Adams as he has dropped Flemming. As loyal as Adams is to cerain players and people at the club he should be reminded that its the FANS who keep him in a job. We pay our dues to canaries world to recieve his commentary and he should be more in tune with what the fans are thinking. He had no problem laying into the fans last year for leaving some games early yet never lays into certain players or management when its obvious that something is not right.
7. I have to say it does look like a striker is leaving. Seems like we offered more than anyone else was prepared to pay which tells me we need the player badly. I know this might be unpopular but if we could get over 8 million for Ashton it would give us a nice kitty for building the team.
8. Before we spend any money lets give  a Shackell/Colin partnership a try. We would be building for the future with 2 younger players.
9. Its a simple question. If the price is right. Would he make our (small) squad better or worse. I think better. If the fee is reasonable lets bring him in.
10.
Fleming played well that season. However, we all knew he had shortcomings and they were brutally exposed time after time last season. I think we need to prepare for the future. Maybe he should get a...
100% spot on. Its about the future, what happens if we play flem all season and we get promoted. We either do a malky and then get someone in or we stick with him in the prem. I think thats unlikely as he will be another year older. We have to build around Shackell and Colin, so we have a good defence NOW that won`t take half a dozen games in the prem to get going. A lot of team in the prem have proved you can be successful just by NOT shipping lots of goals. Worthy has done tremendous business this summer. (considering he has brought in more money than he has spent without the Francis deal) If he just took the Francis money and bought a quality young centre half I don`t think anybody here would have one single complaint.
11. According to the official website we have now sold over 20,000 tickets for The Inter Milan game. With Inter probably having almost no away support it look like it could be the biggest HOME crowd of the year if all tickets sell out (which is looking likely) I also wanted to add that I feel that Norwich fans should show Inter Milan that we are classy and give them respect for coming. The players had no say in the politics of the on again/off again game. They just want to play football. Lets leave them with then impression that we are indeed A FINE CITY.
12. The bottom line is that no matter how talented a player, if he wants away you have to let him go. I would rather have Charlton in midfield who WANTS to play for Norwich. How about Primus plus 1 million?
13. I think we should look to the future and try and put an defence together NOW that is good enough for the prem. Give Shackell and Colin a chance to play along side each other for a full season. If the plan is to play fleming this season and then change things around when/if we get promoted (as we did with Malky) I think its a big mistake. Our promotion season we were so successful because we had so few injuries and had a consistant squad. I think what let us down in the prem last year was NOT ability but organisational ability. We need players who are used to defending together as a unit. Knowing how to defend corners and free kicks. With so few games in the prem you cannot afford to use the first few games as a learning experience.
14. Here is an interesting thought? What about. LJ---Colin----Shackell-----Dury Nobody is mentioning Colin at centre half.
15. Worthy: "I have nothing lined up at the moment" Translation: "I have two players almost signed" Worthy: "We might be interested in that player" Translation: "He has already agreed terms and will be signing next week!"  Worthy: "We have limited funds at the club" Translation: "We have limited funds but they are not quite as limited as we like to portray, Especially to clubs we are buying and selling from/to and players coming in who want huge wages!" In all seriousness, If the Marney trade comes off we should absolutely congratulate Worthy on making some great additions to the squad. I was one of those who thought he was leaving it a bit late. Fair play to him. Worthy looks like he got the job done. Personally I think he has traded away a lot of the weaker parts of our squad and brought in people who have (at least) the potential to be much much better. The competition for places also looks very healthy.
16. Wiz, Holland is closer to Norwich than London. Should we ban Londoners and Northerners from playing? Any way with a name like "Colin" it makes him at least half "Norfolkeese"
17. I would bet that some of the players and management at the club read these boards. If they don`t they are missing a huge oppotunity for honest instant feedback of how we percieve that they are doing their jobs. They get the chance to hear the views and opinions of the core Norwich city fan. The fan who cares deeply about what happens to our club. They might not like or agree with everything written but they would be extremely foolish to ignore it. Football today is a business more than it has ever been. Any business who ignores the wishes/concerns of the majority of its customers is destined to failure.
18. Although I agree with the posters who say we should calm down. I don`t think anyone can argue that we are leaving things very late in the day. Personally I think new players should be playing in the meaningless pre-season games to iron out the wrinkles. Sometimes last minute decisions are not the best ones because they are forced. I think we can put out a very good team at the moment but lack a lot of cover. Im not in a panic but I am concerned. I think worthys transfer business up to this point has been excellent so I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt. He is shrewd operator and may unveil 3 new players next week to shut us all up.
19. As I said in an earlier post, our club is in a FAR FAR better position than before our promotion season. We have more money/better players and a bigger/better stadium plus we don`t have to sell our best players. (meaning we won`t get screwed on price if we do sell anybody) I just cannot for the life of me understand what people are moaning about on this board sometimes. Anyone like to swap with the binners who are going round dustbin in hand trying to sell every decent player they have on the books. I thought not!
20.  Jimbob, get this: After playing a big role in our promotion (no, we couldn''t rely on Iwan to produce the goods) you get dropped after TWO premiership games and replaced with a central defender from Spurs. Then another replacement is bought at Christmas. Half the fans are on your back the moment you step on the pitch - don''t say they weren''t because they were. You''re 30 years old, you get an offer to play first choice football at a top club in your homeland, and a nice payday into the bargain. What do you do? I know what I''d do. Good luck Matt.   I agree, but I also agree we have enough cover in the striker department. If Doc stays he could be used as a short term cover for Ashton, yes I did say short term. If Ashton were to be injured long term then we would need to dip into the market (depending on our position) I would like to see the following come to the club. (1) Good young central defender to partner shacks. (2) Quality replacement for Edworthy/Helveg spot (3) Creative strong midfield player I would like the following team a lot.    Green or Ward (1) - Shacks-(2)-Dury  Jonson-Safri- (3)- Hucks        Ashton-Leon               Flemming/Doc and Charlton would be defensive cover Holt/McVeigh would be Midfield cover Hendo/Doc/Jonson/Hucks would be strike cover with some rotation. Obviously we will probably bring in more than 3 players if Francis is sold as expected.
21. Agree 100% with the last 2 posts by Shropshire and sxcanaree I think its worth saying that if this is the worst thing that some fans can complain about we are in very good shape as a club. We could always swap places with Leeds Utd or Notts Forrest, then we really would have something to moan about.

If promotion had not been obtained then most players would have stayed, some would have been superseded such as Iwan and Malky and perhaps youth rather than purchases would have filled the gaps.  No Helveg or even Ashton but no panic sales no administration and no disasters either. Even with hindsight, the board seem to me to have got it about right then.  Whether they should have spent more to stay in the Prem is another matter and we can debate that in a year''s time.  In the meantime, my verdict - job well done!   Helveg Must Stay !!   Exactly, spot on. Thats why its called risk/reward, how often does anybody in business get any reward without risk. Its almost never heard of. It was calculated, just as their prem campaign was. Worthy and the board admitted had we stayed up our shopping list would have been very different. They had already planned for both outcomes. Sounds like we have people who live in the real world running our club. I am very proud of where the club is at today.  The thing that people don`t understand is that to have a "prudent image" is helpful in two ways. When you buy players, clubs will not try and overcharge you, players wont rape you on wages. When you sell players, they know you are not "desperate to sell" The promotion plan was a nice balance and well calculated. It was either going to advance the club greatly to the prem or put us back a little. Nice risk/reward ratio . Norwich is now in far better shape than in our promotion season.
23. This whole thread misses the point The article was comparing Prem clubs and fizzy clubs, apples and oranges. If the prem clubs did not get the extra 20 milion plus they get by being in the prem, their income/wages ratio would also be high. Duh! Its not the fact that these clubs are more prudent than us, its that they have more income. Anyone wanna bet our income/wage level this past prem season was a lot lower than our promotion season. With 20 million extra coming in I would bet my house on it even including the increase in wages this year.
24. This whole thread proves that we have a great club who knows exactly how to look after the finances. I am amazed by the comments of Tumbleweed who obviously had not thought this through. Delloites comments were taken out of context of our obvious promotion game plan. Lets do the math. We are comparing the ratio of wages to turnover of Fizzy to Prem. Well duh... You get an extra 20 million a year in the prem, even with an increase in wages one would think (?!) that the ratio would go down somewhat. How risky was it when the reward of prem/para payments was put against increased wages plus the fact that any shortfall would be met by selling players if we were not promoted. Delloites comments were based on long term strategy not including sellling players, Our board had all the bases covered thats obvious from the comments.  In retrospect our strategy may have been a little conservative (but not as much as people think). Others spent more than us in the prem and went down with us. Personally I think Worthy and the board got it spot on in the players they bought/kept and money spent. Its just unfortunate that some of the players did not perform as well as they could have done. Worthy and the board learned a lot on this campaign, they will be much stronger going forward and much better prepared when we get promoted again.
25. Good Lord, I would cheer for Fulham naked as long as they let us win next Sunday! I do think its a good idea not to piss off the Fulham fans too much as if we are winning 1-0 or drawing 1-1 (which may be enough?) they may start to "encourage" the team and manager to press more in a game which is pretty meaniningless to them. Also another thought, from reading the press there are going to be a lot of Norwich fans in other parts of the ground so it might be prudent to be at least a little respectful. We can intimidate them by outchanting them with lots of "On the ball City" s.
