1. After stating that the striker issue would be resolved by Monday, McNally''s already threadbare credibility is now at zero
2. Even if you believe that the plodders who sank us last time round in the PL have improved with age, do you not see how much better the sides who we were competing with have become over the last year or so?
3. There is clearly something wrong with our recruitment process. In the PL you need a strong squad - we don''t have one. Forget the ref, the Norwich defending on Saturday was as poor as you''ll see anywhere. A blind man could see that the current crop of players wasn''t going to be anywhere good enough for this league yet we''ve spent all summer ''pursuing'' players but - apart from a couple of WBA cast offs - have only managed to land the mightily unimpressive Robbie Brady while others have been stocking up on quality signings. The failure to add quality all over the squad has already cost us 3 points - and if we make the journey to Sunderland without a reinforced defence and the addition of at least one quality forward we are going to get dicked again.
4. We played some good football in the first 30 minutes?? Its played over 90, son. The new breed of replica kit wearing, ''Wembley Wall'' brick buying, happy clappers we are attracting will be the death of this club. Wake up clappers. The squad is nowhere near strong enough, the board lacks ambition and Neil is not the new messiah. He''s a bloke from Hamilton who got lucky last year.
5. After a summer spent patting ourselves on the back for scraping out of the championships and when designing new kits clearly took precedent over player recruitment, is anyone really surprised that we were so effortlessly rolled over by Palace on Saturday? Our defending was comically poor and surely it is now obvious to everyone that our forwards are not up to the job. Does anyone - apart from AN - seriously believe that our current squad is good enough to avoid total humiliation this season? We need 7/8 quality signings and, sadly, we lack the ambition to fund them, the scouting network to find them and a manager this type of player would want to play for.
6. Also said to be looking at Denmark''s Andreas Cornelius
7. Negotiations for Peter Crouch are quite well advanced, apparently
8. In negotiations for Peter Crouch, apparently
9. Still not sure how we managed to spend so much more on Brady than our original offer when, it would appear, we were the only ones interested in him! Nice work by Hull.
10. It is amusing how many contributors to this site seem to draw comfort from the thought that anyone whose opinion differs from their''s is either ''trolling'' or, worse still, an Ipswich fan is disguise.
11. Robbie Brady £8m. Steven Berghuis £4.6m. Nothing says more about why our obsession with UK players will be our undoing - both in the short and long term. Well considered and literate responses only please
12. I see the power of my argument has proved too overwhelming for most of you to come up with a well thought out and articulately expressed counterpoint. The East Anglia state school system has much to answer for, it seems
13. We took 49 points from the 22 games Neil was in charge last year. From the same games Watford took 48 points. The result - we now believe Neil walks on water, while Watford have replaced their manager with someone with the credibility to attract top talent and the experience needed to manage in the PL. Our fans are wetting themselves because we''ve signed Robbie Brady (bang average) on the same day that Watford land Steven Berghuis (google him if you need to). When did we become so smalltime?
14. Just two weeks to go until the start of the season and 39 days until the transfer window ends and still nothing
15. Branston Pickle wrote the following post at 24/07/2015 10:21 AM: I''ve never seen them bring 9 in in one window, though. The game in this country is as good as dead if this is seen as the way forward. What difference does it make what timescale the signings are spread over? It''s been seen as the way forward for years and the game seems very much alive and well.
16. Watford are no different than any other PL club in looking abroad for incoming players. What do you think Arsenal, Chelsea, United etc etc have been doing for years? British players are mediocre and overpriced - see Raheem sterling for more info.
17. When the pozzos first took over Watford three years ago they signed 17 players in the summer! Watford finished third that season under Zola, so don''t kid yourselves that their new signings won''t gel. They''ve also signed their best players from last year on extended contracts this summer so one would assume everyone''s happy.
18. Thanks Sir Anthony - that should convince some of the numpties on here that we are the same person!
19.
Iron Stan will be proved completely wrong this season.
No he won''t. Bassong and Martin Premier League quality? Yeh, right!
20. Here''s mine: 1. The ''Wembley Wall'' 2. The third kit 3. The second and first kits 4. The ham fisted attempt at signing Brady 5. Our lack of transfer activity 6. The theory that we have less financial clout than Bournemouth and Watford 7. The coming realisation that Neil is not, after all, the messiah 8. Being linked with has-beens like Lambert and Carlton Cole. 9. Watford''s ability to sign quality players (just because you don''t know them doesn''t make the ''journeymen'') from the best European Leagues. 10. The prospect of starting the season with Bassong and Martin at centre back. 11. The excitement generated in some quarters by the signing of Mulumbu - who is generally regarded as past his prime by WBA fans The highlight of the summer has been the wedding of Razz the Clown and Auntie Pearl.
21. Of course we''re not doomed. Don''t worry about the fact that we can''t sign any new players, I know our existing squad is the same group that performed so dismally in the prem last time round and struggled to get out of the championship last year, but I firmly believe that they have morphed into world beaters over the summer. And there is no better centre back in the premiership than Bassong. Keep clapping
22. The point is not that we have failed to land Gestede but that (judging from his comments quoted in the Guardian''s item) Norwich is no longer considered a destination club - even for unproven players from a lower division side. Our inability to sign any one of note would, i contend, appear to back up the theory that Gestede is not alone in his view that signing for NCFC is an unattractive career move. If someone like Gestede feels like this no wonder we have been unable to sign anyone of proven PL, Budesliga, Serie A, La Ligue etc etc quality.
23. Dan, old son, if you have nothing more intelligent or useful to say than that, don''t bother. Pathetic.
24. Further evidence that we cannot attract the quality of players we are seeking. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/22/watford-blackburn-rudy-gestede-fee Watford''s ambition has clearly established them as a more attractive club to play for than us. How has this been allowed to happen? Wake up clappers
