1. Sadly, it is true. The River End has been a morgue since the 80s. I used to sit there just for supersticious reasons, we always lost when I went anywhere else. But, after the quiet that sometimes greeted our promotion season, I just had to leave. Now I''m just an occasional visitor, it''s the Pit for me.
2. He has a point. At least there are no protest marches planned. Give Glenn and his signings a chance.
3. Very sad news, a part of my childhood died today. Oh those days standing at the front of the south dtand to see Graham whizzing by, long hair flowing behind. Thoughts to his family, and a minutes applause would be better than silence.
4. Wizz: Probably the wisest thing you have posted. Hope others take notice. Sorry if thats sounding like I''m damning with faint praise. We''re all entitled to our views, I don''t always agree with what you or others say, but you have the right to say it. On this, I actually agree. A loss at the weekend would be a disaster of unimaginable proportions.   OTBC
5. Really, along with Super Mac the first ''stars'' we had at Carrow Road; trademark bear and long hair; I remember one time he shaved and I wandered who the new player was. Shocking news, and thoughts to his family.
6. Like most on these message boards, I am very unhappy with the league position of the football team, but I am really concerned about the objective of any planned demonstration. What is the stated objective? To let them know how unhappy we are with the teams league position? They know that anyway. To make them resign? If so, how will that help us? We will still be at the bottom of the table 7 points adrift from safety. If all the directors were to resign without replacements, then the club would be in breach of company law and could be wound up! To make them invest in the team? We all hope (and expect them to do so) but they can''t buy any players until January. If the directors were to sell, there would be no investment in the January window as the sale is unlikely to be concluded by then and they will not be able to sanction the purchase of players while in the process of selling the club. If Delia was to resign, then the bank loans and long term debts are likely to have to be renewed. This could potentially leave us in the position of having to pay the £20m of loans immediately or be placed into administration. That would almost certainly guarantee relegation with the docking of 10 points Before demanding that the board resign and that Delia resign, think through the implications first.     The wisest words about this so far.
7. Something I posted about before: I was speaking to someone who runs a youth team in the Waveney area, and due to Citys lack of success in bringing young players through, most are going to Town as they see a future. We won''t feel the effects of this for another decade, but it is happening. I am of the same opinion about the Acadamy, it has failed totaly. If players are not ggod enough then get them out and save money. Which is why I wanted someone to come in who can look at the whole playing side and fixing what is broken. When Alex Ferguson regorganised Man Utd when he arrived, and withing a decade they reaped the rewards. If our problems are not fixed we will be feeling this for two decades. Not a pleasant thought, as bringing young players through is the most cost effective way of team building.
8. I have to agree that it is probaly the players we turn our ire on, as quite clearly most of them have performed well in other teams and well for us in the past. Quite what is going on there, is the dressing room slit as has been suggested? If so it reveals a pretty unproffesional place. Over the years I have seen players going through the motions, Lee Marshall being the prime expample, and the @Costa Del Carrow'' was supposed to be a thing of the past; but it seems the easy life has crept back.   Ahhh, Robert Rosario; anyone else in the crown when he made his debut against Watford in 1984? 6-1, what a game, even John Devine scored.
9. In the mid 80''s, one of our players, Robert Rosario was being blamed for all the ills of the club. His name was booed when the team was read out, tuts when he touched the ball and maons when it went astray. It was pointed out by Ken Brown that maybe to boost his confidence the crowd might like to cheer instead of boo, and that might improve his confidance. The next game, he got raising cheers, and his game was 100% better. My point is, that this atmosphere that is being created is doing nothing for the club or team, and many are quicker to maon than to cheer. How different it was at the Ipswich game when choruses of OTBC greeted their goals and huge cheers when we scored. I was not there, but could hear it on the radio, made my heart jump for joy. How different from the silence that accompanied the Sheffied Wednesday game, the last that i was at. Maybe such a reaction when they scored could have helped. Let me add that I want the baord out; they have failed completley to do what they set out to do, prudence with ambition failed and they should go, as soon as possible. But not until a replacement has been found. Quite how hard Delia and Co are looking is another matter, and whether they should be City fans is another. I am no sheep, I have seen both good and bad in 35 years of suporting City, seen the roof lifted of Carrow Road many times, especially vicories agains the old enemy of Man Utd. I made one mistake on my last posting with a personal attack on one particular poster on this board. For that I''m sorry to have sunk that low, and to hime I appologis for having done so. everyone is entitled to their opinion, and their right to air it. He is by no means the one I disagree with most, but he posts lots and I disagree with most of what he says. But, why can''t we all pull in the same direction, guys? Is it so hard? The club is not in as bad a situation as it was under Chase and so to compare it to then is wrong. There are more than enough games to pull this around, and with everyone pulling in the same direction, it can happen. Is it too much to ask for there to be a wall of noice at the Coventry game and see what happens? Oh no, lets have a protest, moan a lot and get on the players backs. Now why didn''t they play well? The truth is, the board make bad appointments in managers; one walked out, one was fine for a while, no one was complaining with play off final or promotion where they? But, big financial mistakes have been made, and we should have appologies from those responsible; because we were told they had their eyes open and knew of the pitfalls. I used to stand next to one guy in the River End and for a while he came just to berate Mark Barham after he came back from injury: I had to ask him why he did it, and maybe he would like to cheer or applaud once in a while. We all care about the club, I think we can agree, but it seems that some are suggesting they are better fans if they protest; or go to many games, or why do we care if we don''t go to games? Well, some of us have no coice, we moved away to follow work, met someone who lives the other side of the country. That hasn''t stopped us caring. OTBC
10. ... for me to say that certain people who post on this board have really lost the plot in a big way. Calling for protests, the manager to go, the board to go when more than anything else, this club needs unity, and solidarity. It saddens me to the core to see things this way, and glad that I live a couple of hundred miles away so to be divorced from it all. The manager has to be given time, but already many have passed judgement and are not willing him to give him a chance. Quite how any team could prosper in the current atmosphere is beyond me, and quite how it is supposed to help the team and club is beyond me. Maybe its better I live away and don''t go to games any more, as it would break my heart to see things come to this. I heard the noise the crowd made via the radio at the Ipswich game, everyone was behind the team then, and what a surprise the team responded. Next game it was back to normal. Well, if you''re not going to go and support the team, why bother going at all? You''re not part of the cure, you''re part of the problem. A real idiot is known ia always recognised by his village.
11. Whether we like to admit or not; but without the people you describe the club would be in a even worse stae filling the ground week after week. What would you rather have, crowds down to 15,000 and the club in further financial trouble? I just wish people would stop fighting amongst themselves, aportioning blame, rather than getting behind the club in the manner we saw last week. There are those around here that are only happy when they have something to complain about.: creating more and more conflict and tension. I''m not saying there are not things to be angry about, but this is hardly the way to go about it. There is a cancer at the club and on the terraces right now, and if it aint sorted out this as much as who is on the board will drag the club down. By all means carry on this pathetic squabbling and namecalling at the so called Johnny come lately fans, declare yourselves the true fans, and all the while the club is being poisoned. Grow up and get a grip. The club is more importnat than who is the true(r) fan.
12. I stand by what I said about Hucks; I used to think the sun sone out of you know where. Not any more, he''s not a team player, and certainly what he has done has done little for team spirit. Players should do it where it counts, on the pitch. I am sure other players are as concerned as Hucks, but we don''t hear them rocking the boat, they just get on with it. I have not seen many games recently, but it seems to me that Hucks'' days of whizzing past defenders and getting crosses in seem to be behind him.
13. Everybody who comes here says how wonderful are facilities are are Colney and Carrow Road but the trouble is we haven''t produced any new talent through our ranks for years and Green is really the only home grown player who has been sold for a decent fee in years.   I quite agree. Whaetever the increase in TV money, this is just swallowed in ever increasing payer wages. Apart from Shackel, who else from the acadamy has made an impact? I just hope Roeder can organise the club from top to bottom, because that is what is needed. £1 million was used to set the acadamy up when we had no money to spare, and it has been a waste of money, complete waste of money. A real inquiry needs to be set up to find out why. If a player is not good enough, Ryan Jervis?, then he should be shown the door. Or not offered a contact. To buy players in is far more expensive than to develop your own. Simple maths. Either past managers were too scared to play youth, or they were not good enough. One thing is for certain, it needs sorting out, and soon. For the past decade we have just been throwing money away as far as the acadamy is concerned, and that is truly criminal.
14. For those of us unable to go to the game or in Norfolk, we had to listen to 5Live, and f***ing hell, it''s Mr Unbiased Bloody Hamilton giving us the benefit of his wisdom. Just how lopsided was his view? To me listening to the commentary, we had the best of the first half but two mistakes in defence cost us, but stepped up in the second. His half time comments were that it was all over, on fact said when the second went in game set and match. Andat half time said that Roeder had a mountain to climb. And that the draw was a fair result at the end!!! Anyway, sounded like a corking game, and the City support sounded wonderful on medium wave as well. And when the Binners scored they were outsung; as it should be. Once more, with feeling: OTBC
15. Sadly, I have to agree. If he had his grieviences, he should have aired them in private. As for the latest outburst, he''s a senior player, he should be leading by example.
16. Lets be realistic here; we all know the board will go for the cheapest option. That means someone who is not attatched to a club, or is at this one. I would love for a high profile manager to come, but back in the real worl, it will be the same old story. If Jewell comes,  I''ll eat my hat. The board have too much form for them to think of the future of the club. The board have finally drummed the last of my enthusiasm out of me, and I see only darker days ahead.
17. After attending my first game in a few months, the Sheff Wed game, and listening to some of the comments, I guess there are some pretty happy people around Norfolk these days, as they really do have something to complain about. How quiet some of those were three or four years ago, but since then their chattering has been getting louder. It seems to me the atmosphere at the Carra has once again reached the stage where once the opposition score a goal, the crowd start to moan, and the confidence starts to vanish, like mist in the morning. Maybe now since things have reached such a low point, instead of going for a good old moan at the weekend, fans actually support the team for a change, rather than pick on certain players they deem to be the cause. Dismissing the baord would further destabilise the club, and although I think they should go, until there is a viable alternative what other choices are there? Just my opinion, I could be wrong, I have been before. But even when we played at Old Trafford just over three years ago, the moaners were already out. It was like a morgue at the Sheff Wed game, and many were there to complain not to support.   OTBC.
18. While I agree that the board have some very tricky questions to answer, and very dodgy decisions to account for; unless there is a credible alernative, to oust them now would further destabilise the club.   To the best of my knowledge, Delia has given up books and tv to concentrate on the club.
19.
nicey nicey, family club, little Norwich etc etc. Oi Delia stop writing on this message board!
Why is it whenever somebody offers an opion diffent to those Board out, Grant Outers, it must be someone at the club who is behind the past? I understand the frustration of the fans, but unless a plan B is put forward other than the current board, then it would be foolhardy to say the least to sack the board just because. The current board has many questions to answer, I won''t deny, mistakes have been made. And quite where the influx of players has been this month is another thing that needs adressing. As I have said before, whether we like it or not, Grant needs time to bring players he wants to the club, and let those go who clearly do not want to be here. If i could, i would be at games every week, but I can''t. I am also sure that I would be as frustrated as the next fan with the situation and the performances. But, i like to think I live in the real world, and there was never going to be a quick fix as the team had been allowed to stagnate to the level it was in October. It is also up to senior players in the squad to lead, to set an example for others to follow; for the captain to give under-performers the rollocking they deserve. But none of this happens. As you can see, I have no answers, but to hand out P45''s will nilly would be just as criminal in the fiddling done by the board over the past two years.
20. Speaking as someone who cannot make it to too many game now, this was my first game in a while; and quite honestly there were players out there who had no pride, passion or desire to have the yellow and green shirt on. I would rather that youth or reserve players had been picked, and that had tried their best; becasue I can handle losing, but not to even try, unforgiveable. It also seemed to me that there was no clear plan on the pitch, no game plan; and as time went on, all that could come up with was hoofball. It just looked like that there had been no training, or at least with each other; so what has been going on in Colney is anyone''s guess. The only players to come out today with any credit we DD, Croft, Safri and Drury, the rest may not have been there, and their minds certainly were not. As for the ''star'' Huckerby; he must learn that there has to be more to his game than running into defenders and throwing his arms up asking why he did not get a free kick. Maybe actually trying to beat the defender would work? Now he''s got his new contract, maybe he would like to show how pleased he is about it by putting a good performance or two. Sacking the manager is not the answer, sacking the board is not either. A cook with bad ingredients will make a bad cake, so a coach with poor players will make a bad team. Let him bring is some players, if he can, and judge him then. As for the board; they have some tricky questions to answer, and Doomcaster''s position is untellable; but unless someone can bring in something better than the current board, to get rid of them for the sake of it would be stupid. Where has all the money gone, Green, Ashton and McKenzie to name those departed in the last year alone. Having not been at Carrow Road for a few months, what stuck me is that there is no atmosphere now, it can be a cauldren of noise, and can lift the team; but this, dead, will only serve to lower morale even more. Who go if you don''t cheer the team on? Having watched Norwich for more years(35) than I care to remember, I can say that this was the most spineless performance I have ever seen. The glory days of three years ago seem much more distant. Unless something is done, then when the next season ticket details are announced, the club will be in for a major shock, crowds of sub 20k seem to be likely. As for those who are calling for the axe to swing at Grant and the board; I see that one among you is saying he will no longer go to games, good, maybe if those who do nothing but moan the atmosphere will impove. It just seems to me that some are only happy when they have something to moan about.
21. Do we have to go through this crap every time we have a bad result? If so, it''s going to be a long season. I was a Worthy Outer, for what it''s worth, and thing we should give Grant a chance. Maybe 1st Wizz should realises there is another team in this county, and he could find plenty to moan about there. The last thing we need is this situation with fans moaning about other fans''s views, and yes, I realise I''m doing that, is it too much to ask us to all pull in the same direction for a while? I totally agree that players failing to show pride in pulling the shirt on is unacceptable, and any player doing that should never play for the club again. But for now, what other choice is there? Unless Mr 1st Wizz can conjour up a few money trees on the banks of the Wensum, any talk of major changes is just pie in the sky.
22. I will just say again, there are those, Ist Wizard being one of them, who are only happy when there is something to maon about. The point when it became just about being agry with what we see on the pitch is long past, and it is now just personal abuse. If I were Grant, i would be fed up with some sections of the crowd as we have become over critical over the years. What use would changing the manager do now? Cost more money that we don''t have meaning there would be even less for payers in the window.   Grow up or find something else to do on a Saturday, or search on e bay rather that fill up the boards with drivel.   OTBC
23. There is nothing I have read or heard about Peter grant that makes me thing for a minute that the club have made a mistake; he seems to know what he wants, and just has to get the players to see that as well. He said he was not pleased with performances, and he was proved right. I just wish folks would give him a chance. Tou can''t judge him on one game, orone months, or even how this season pans out. I think he needs a year, probably 5 years to change the whole club; he seems to be the best chance the club has.move forward. It seems the team has several passengers, and I would have hoped that proffesional players would have reacted to some of the comments coming from the manager; apperently not, in which case they need to be, and will be, replaced by players who will. For Forbes''s sake, give him a chance, and keep the faith; or was that last month''s phrase?
24. Jeez, I was wondering when the outers would make an appearance, but even I thought it would take a little longer than this. What were you expecting, or just want an excuse to have a whine, which is more the case. It has made me wonder over the years, what joy do some people get by supporting the Yellas, when they are only able to write things and raise themselves when things go wrong? If it really riles you that bad, why not take up DIY or fishing on a Saturday?   But, why not just give the guy a chance, he has said the right things, and maybe, just maybe given time, may just be what we have been looking forward. I at least will look forard to his weekly post match comments as they promise to at least be interesting, not the tired of rehases that Wortless used to spout.
25. I would just like to add my thoughts on the current situation. I also thought we would be getting someone with experience to sort the club out; a re-think from top to bottom; what vexes me is the lack of youth players that have made it to the first team in the last 6 years; have thay all been that bad? Without experience, they''re not going to improve are they? One of the qualities the new man should have is the stature to comand the respect of the players, not sure if that will happen. It seems that the board once again have gone for the cheapest option, or one of them, which is disappointing. However, in the past, they have been proven right, and for the time being, I believe he should be given a chance before he even walks in the gaffers office for the first time. There are some, and have been for a while, at this club that are given to complain at the first signs of things going wrong or not to plan; maybe less whinging and more supporting would be a good thing for a while? Everyone has the right to exress their opinion, but in time, not before he even the manager. For the sake of the team and the club, can we form a united front, if only for a while? Is it too hard to do?   For the record, I am not in favour of Grant getting the job, but I was proved wrong with Worthington for at least three years, and could be wrong again; I am least willing to give the guy a chance, are you?   OTBC
