Houston Canary 0 Posted February 21, 2014 Che, who said anything about Kuwait, which involved the Brits too?Feathers, not everything requires a vote. It''s called the social contract. Free enterprise works the best so we use it. Zac, you think your soldiers are in Afghanistan to secure the heroine trade? For what purpose? NEXT!
pyjamas 0 Posted February 22, 2014 I like to think of football as a microcosm of our own "greed is good" society, where all the money rises to the top like cream.Today we live in a plutocrasy. We have a government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. All the concessions to the middle and working classes won after both world wars are gradually being unwound and we are returning to a pre-WWI state where the likes of the Rothschilds pulled the strings in government. And so it is with football now severed from its working-class roots and now the hoi-polloi have to pay good money to see their teams play. Oddly enough, that upper middle-class sport rugby union is more egalitarian these days.Still, at least with football we have a choice. If you don''t approve of the wages or of how teams are now run, vote with your feet. Cancel your season tickets. Don''t buy merchandise. Cancel your contract with Sky. Find a new hobby. Zak Van Burger 0 Posted February 22, 2014
Zac, you think your soldiers are in Afghanistan to secure the heroine trade? For what purpose? NEXT!
Because unfortunately we are in bed with the Yanks who can''t win FA themselves unless it involves natives with pointy sticks.Flashback! God it was like a jungle back in ''Nam.......EDITEven if it involves natives with pointy sticks. You go out and find any smack addict on the streets of Houston and I could almost guarantee you that their hit originated from Afghanistan. How the flip do you think it got into your Country??? Do not underestimate the Worldwide leverage gained in controlling the opium industry** or level of Governmental involvement&&. Neither underestimate the total value of the Worldwide industry and the cost to society through crime committed to provide that money ** For medicinal purposes only of course you do understand that intentional dumbing or thinning down of a populace is the stuff of science fiction and not something that could be accomplished via the controlled release of substances such as opium, cocaine and bud? Of course living in Southern USA you are unaware of the problems in Mexico or Colombia and probably unaware that peru is now actually the largest producer of Coke, I mean none of that ever finds its way onto the streets of American Cities now does it?&& We have form in this dept, serious form with the Chinese [:D]. Houston Canary 0 Posted February 22, 2014 You argue against your own argument Zac. Why would the government help import heroine or cocaine and then have to deal with increased crime? You should consider how stupid your argument sounds before implying that I''m some backwoods yokel (as opposed to a cosmopolitan Norfolk gent). You also provide nothing more substantive than don''t underestimate government involvement. Maybe you should stop watching crime dramas and stop overestimating government involvement in keeping the drug trade going. Now I''ll give you the 3rd world governments may be implicit in some cases but to suggest the Prime Minister is helping funnel narcotics into the country is baseless jingoism dreamt up by loser activists. Oh dear I guess your guarantees mean nothing then MEXICAN BLACK TAR! The clues in the name. Granted it''s an massive trade world wide when you''ve got got heroin, morphine, oxy''s,roxys, cocodamols, But do you really think we invade these third world s*it holes for that? Herman 9,779 Posted February 22, 2014 Back on topic, if you think Rooney is paid too much I just read that Glen Johnson is on 110k a week. Can''t be right can it?
Feathers 0 Posted February 22, 2014
Feathers, not everything requires a vote. It''s called the social contract. Free enterprise works the best so we use it.
Ah the myth of the free will of the contract."The slave was precious to his master because of the money he had cost him . . . They were worth at least as much as they could be sold for in the market . . . It is the impossibility of living by any other means that compels our farm labourers to till the soil whose fruits they will not eat and our masons to construct buildings in which they will not live . . . It is want that compels them to go down on their knees to the rich man in order to get from him permission to enrich him . . . what effective gain [has] the suppression of slavery brought [him ?] He is free, you say. Ah! That is his misfortune . . . These men . . . [have] the most terrible, the most imperious of masters, that is, need. . . . They must therefore find someone to hire them, or die of hunger. Is that to be free?" -Simon Linguet
Houston Canary 0 Posted February 22, 2014 Who''s a slave? Rooney? You, Feathers? Me?A big problem with that quote is it ignores the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the human spirit and the will to be free. There are other options in the free market besides being a slave or a slave holder. There are thousands of businesses right there in Norwich thst aren''t owned by multi-millionaires. Who started them?

nutty nigel 7,539 Posted February 23, 2014 Not sure that socialists generally are bitter and envious about everything. Those two emotions are human failings and folk of all political persuasions are vulnerable to them.
