Maybe the loss of JR is a key contributing factor as to why we are not scoring goals:

League results since John Ruddy last played for us:

7 losses - goals conceded 19

7 Draws - goals conceded 3

4 Wins - goals conceded 6

Total - 18 games, conceding 28 goals

In the 13 games prior to that, we had:

4 losses - goals conceded 15

6  Draws - goals conceded 4

3 Wins - goals conceded 0

So one may think that Ruddy''s absence has not been missed. However, given that it is generally accepted that our season only turned around after the Liverpool and Chelsea loss (by which time we had already conceded 15 goals), then in the following 9 games with Ruddy between the posts we didn''t lose and only conceded 4 goals!

I therefore put it to the honourable ladies and gentlemen of the board (forum board [:)]) that the benefits of having John Ruddy in the team could equate to an overall reduction of 10 goals (18 games - 28 goals, equates to 9 games - 14 goals vs JR''s 4 goals in 9 games)

I accept one can argue about the merits or otherwise of manipulated figures, however, would you argue that his presence and determination gave our outfield more confidence to play further up the field?

So, maybe what we actually need, is JR back in the team so that we can start scoring goals again[:D]

Its quite an interesting idea that the goalkeeper has some influence  on goals scored.   Attacks do generally start from the goalkeeper either throwing the ball to a defender or kicking it into the opponent''s half.   So there could be some credence in this.    If your goalkeeper has a good accurate throw or kick, it can make a lot of difference.   I suppose it backs up the idea that you defend as a team and you attack as a team.

However, in defence of Bunn, who has been terrific, in our case, the lack of goals  is more down to the midfield giving the ball away without delivering it into the danger area.

The post-Ruddy statistics are arguably influenced by Bunn''s not-too-convincing run until mid-January. Maybe take those games out and see what you get?

Never seen Ruddy score!

Is this what watching City this season is doing to people, or have you always been the same?
