It''s that time again. The World Cup. With England starting on the long road to suicidal despair. To keep fans from worrying about the threat posed by Moldova''s exciting no. 23 shirt a Norwich City-related World Cup quiz:


1. Which former Norwich City defender (who was a long way from Mulbarton) played for England in the 1962 World Cup in Chile?

2. Which Norwich-born defender played in all five of England''s matches in the 2002 World Cup?

I reckon it''s Willie Donachie who I think may have been a coach here as well as a player.

He never played for us even though he had signed a contract as he couldn''t get a work permit.

yep, Donachie it was

 

he only played a few games with us and never was a coach

 

did join up at poorman road with Joe Royle, though - until he got the heave ho (and it must have been quite a heave with Royles weight)

Played his last game for us away at Oldham in a midweek fixture when 39 of us travelled by CC.(window lickers to you Nutty [:P]) Lowest away attendance i can ever remember.

I did use the word "starlet" deliberately. He played for the Reserves but we/he failed to get a work permit.
