Tommo 51 Posted June 8, 2012 Would personally like us to sign him along with Snodgrass. Always looked a handful together and would be two more good wingers to alternate with Pilks and Benno. Snodgrass probably going to cost £4m but maybe able to get Gradel for around £3m from St-Etienne?
JC 0 Posted June 8, 2012 Didn''t think much to Gradel at the African Nations, seems to have done alright in France though. Don''t need both of them, Snodgrass would be a good signing though
Mahogany 0 Posted June 8, 2012 Was really good at Leeds, every different sort of player to Snodgrass. Not sure how he''s done at St-Etienne, but might be worth a look. However with Hughton in charge who knows what his priorities are in regards to transfers. I''d say the only position that obviously needs strengthening is fullback and if Holt goes then at least 1 striker is a must. But beyond that I''d say our squad is of a fairly similar quality so it will be about how Hughton wants to play that dictates what positions we go for. norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted June 8, 2012 I wonder if Hughton will sign Best? Going on the cheap apparently.....
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted June 8, 2012 Whilst I rate both of those players we''d end up with:Gradel Johnson Howson SnodgrassWhich was the Leeds midfield from League One when we beat them into 2nd spot with; WesLapps. Korey RustyFor that reason, I''m out.
VegasCanary 0 Posted June 8, 2012 I wouldn''t want Gradel, I always felt his hot headedness outweighed the potential class he has a player.
mrs miggins 0 Posted June 8, 2012 he''s got pace but not much end product, much like shaun wright phillips in his prime (tho not as good)
Jacko 0 Posted June 9, 2012 Gradel got 18 goals from the wing in the Championship. How much more of an end product do you want?! He reportedly signed for a fee of around £6 million though. I would imagine they want to recoup most of that. It is a figure that would be beyond us I reckon.
mrs miggins 0 Posted June 9, 2012 i''m talking about his crossing ability
Mahogany 0 Posted June 9, 2012 He''s not really a winger though is he. He''s more an inside forward. Hence scores lots of goals but doesn''t really cross it. Something a bit different from what we have at the moment. If we''re going to be playing a 433/4231/451 style a player like him could be very useful. Anyone one know if there is a particular formation Hughton likes to use?

His most successful side, Newcastle, played a 4-4-1-1 with a striker to hold up the ball and a attacking midfielder/second striker looking to make runs past him, although it''s debatable how much this was due to players he had available (Nolan,Carroll) and how much it was a preferred formation. city4eva 242 Posted June 9, 2012 is the OP suggesting we are Leeds in disguise..a leeds in league 1 at that
Jacko 0 Posted June 9, 2012
i''m talking about his crossing ability
He got 7 assists as well that year. Putting that into context Nathan Dyer only got 2 more than that. Although I would total agree he works best as part of a 3 man attack. That year Leeds seems to favour Becchio alone up front. With Gradel and Snodgrass as the wide forwards. Howson providing support as a box to box midfielder.
Tommo 51 Posted June 9, 2012 From memory he went there for about £2m as was in last year of Leeds contract. Agree he is more of a forward player and if we keep Holty and could get Gradel and Snodgrass, it would be a great attacking line IMO
