I am a Banana 0 Posted June 25, 2012 This could be an ideal chance for both Rudd and Steer to go out on loan and have an experianced GK to give Ruddy a bit of pressure for the #1 jersey! Birmingham managed to get Jack Butland out on loan last season and he really improved as a GK. Hopefulyl Hughton sees this could also work wonders for DR and JS if they both go. I think they would be ok in a league 2 or maybe a poor league 1 side! It will also boost their market values so if we have to sell one of them (very likely) then it would help add funds into another quality player.

Redders Right Foot 22 Posted June 26, 2012 When De Gae was being switched out every other week, his performances were, well, failures. when he started to to play week in week out, after a while he hit the ''class'' people were expecting of him. I think the pressure for places works well in many ways, but not for keepers.
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted June 26, 2012 Last season I always thought that we needed experienced cover for Ruddy, but we got away with it. It is a year on now and these two prospects will have come on accordingly. Unfortunately I never get to see either play, few people do, but I remember being impressed by both Rudd and Steer at Adam''s testimonial. They had both developed physically and in terms of confidence. Their respective blossoming abilities were never in doubt. Rudd, in particular, should now be more than ready as a back-up if necessary. PL considered him that last season in any case. Perhaps there is a case for loaning Jed out for a season, but then we would probably have to go to the expense of signing an experienced oldie who would likely not get used. When Rudd did stand in for the suspended Ruddy last season he was, understandably, nervous at the start but despite being stitched up and then unfairly chastised by DeLaet he went on to play confidently and well. He showed good character that day and it augers well for anything that might transpire this season. .
star_manic 0 Posted June 26, 2012 no way do we need another experienced goalkeeper. if he is any good, why would he come to us and sit on the bench, plus he would want top money, we have to have faith in our two youngsters, maybe each going on loan at different times next season. from what i have seen and heard they are both real prospects, put them down the pecking order an they will want away.
