Dear Paul

‘The pen is always mightier than the sword’

As such, we write to you regarding the shocking news of your resignation earlier today, and the ongoing talks regarding the vacant managers position at Aston Villa FC.

As long-standing Norwich fans, we believe that only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun, and as a consequence would urge you to reconsider your imminent movements remembering that fools rush in where angels fear to tread, and ask yourself, ‘why have so many managers tried and failed’ making a success of the club you envisage joining. In fact, we could all see it coming given your disloyal treatment of previous clubs, I suppose a leopard really can’t change his spots.

It must be admitted, we have always admired your tactful treatment of the ever-eager English media, but you seem to be ignoring the glaringly obvious truth that a rolling stone gathers no moss, and where you no longer exist, the club seeks to build on its impressive recent success – no one is bigger than Norwich City football club which will continue to stand on the shoulders of giants.

We will never forget the three glorious seasons you created, absence will always make the heart grow fonder, and in years to come, we more than expect to see you back at Carrow Road, once again leading the squad to unrivalled success in the English Premier League and beyond.

‘Pride comes before a fall’

In short, don’t go.

Yours,

Phully (aged 5), Thlippyy (Dutch, aged 7) and Pete (aged 32)

P.s. All walls have ears and every dog has it’s day – also, two fat ladies are eighty eight and bread always lands butter side down

Agreed with all this until the final sentence.    He''s gone and we need to move forward not back.

We''re the fourth most successful club in English football. If so many have failed at Villa Park then god knows what that says for the other 88 clubs.

Dear Thlippy,

You know what they say about Glaswegians? If they like your mixed metaphors they let you live.

Yours,

Paul Lambert (from Linwood, near enough to Glasgow for these purposes)

Not this old crap again. Televisions used to be black and white too, and humans used to live in caves and hunt with spears.

And your not the fourth most successful club in English football, you are sixth most successful club in English football.

With Chelsea in 7th and Man City in 8th, it won''t be long until you are the 8th most successful club in English football.

Of course, none of it REALLY matters, because Wolves, Nottm Forest, Leeds, Blackburn, and Sheffield Wednesday are all the top 15.

And guess what?? They won''t be playing Premier League football next year.

Cheerio.
