england1966 0 Posted June 1, 2012 Up and coming manager, good back room staff too. Pilkington thinks highly of him, and a potential signing of Rhodes??
sonyc 6,144 Posted June 1, 2012 Yep. Him or Hughton
Salopian 1 Posted June 2, 2012 He impressed people at CR when he was here, has done well before being rather unfairly dismissed at Huddersfield, and seem to be a bright lad. He has only a few years experience, but I thuink that he would be a good risk, certainly better than one or two candidates whose experience is that of failure! Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted June 3, 2012 One of Crafty Canary''s colleagues is a Sheffield Wednesday ST holder. When they sacked Megson last season Crafty suggested that Lee Clark might be a possible replacement. He was surprised when she replied that Lee Clark wouldn''t be wanted as his man management was awful. Where she got this from Crafty doesn''t know but it got him thinking that maybe that''s one of the reasons why he and Roeder got on so well. If this is true would we want him at Carrow Road as manager?
Mahogany 0 Posted June 3, 2012 We really should be able to do better.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted June 3, 2012 Seems like a talented manager but didn''t McNally say we wanted someone with experience as well as hunger?
Barry Brockes 157 Posted June 3, 2012 Would be a huge gamble IMO. Failed to get Huddersfield promoted despite having a huge budget and has only limited experience two leagues below the Premier League. Am sure we can do better than taking such an unnecessary risk. smooth 114 Posted June 3, 2012 I think Lee Clark has great potential, I certainly would be happy if he became Norwich City Manager as I would be as I would be if Hughton or Malky.I will trust McNally''s judgement, as I am sure all three may put there names in as well as other current managers and possibly those that have tried previously. I still would be interested in the club speaking with our former Norweigan Centre back who has managed in Europe. We need to bring in some pretty decent players and no-doubt the transfer policy will slightly change. It is now an interesting week in regard to who gets a new contract out of those who have not be signed up yet and how quickly we move on Grant Holt. We need our new manager in very soon, but even before that we need to move Grant Holt out and have his wages and transfer fee in the war chest for this summers transfer dealings.I think Lee Clark would be a good manager and he would have great connections to bring in new players, we know that this next season is going to be very tough, we have a young talented group that need some help throughout the team and we need a manager who can continue to bring the best out of them. Jacko 0 Posted June 3, 2012 I would be bitterly disappointed with Lee Clark to say the least. We need a manager who is going to box clever in the market and get the best out of the resources he will get. The bottom line with Clark is that he had a massive budget at Huddersfield with a very generous chairman called Dean Hoyle. In the 3 years he had at the club he failed to get them out of League 1. Admittedly he signed some good players like Pilkington, Peltier and Rhodes. However he has also wasted huge sums of money on some very poor players as well. His man management was also terrible. He signed a player called Donel McDermott only to bomb him out to Bournemouth 6 months later. I am amazed people also haven''t made more of his time as assistant manager at Norwich. I accept that Roeder was ultimately in charge and made all the decisions. But do you think Clark could have suggested a bit more forcefully that if you go into a season with about 2 centre halves and absolutely no recognised strikers then you are going to struggle? He has to take some of the blame for what happened here. If we appoint Clark then the Championship beckons and all our hard work has been wasted.
Aggy 944 Posted June 3, 2012 I could be wrong here, but I think the particularly dire spell under Roeder began after Clarke had left, so people seem to think Clarke was pretty decent, not so sure myself. As for his time at Huddersfield, I don''t think it was all that impressive to be honest. Spent shed loads of money and only did okay, and this is two divisions below where we are now. Probably spent more than we did when we were in League One, and didn''t achieve the same success we did. There are better candidates in my opinion.
In Dubious Battle 0 Posted June 3, 2012 Roeder''s assistant wasn''t he? That went well last time round. A definite NO
York Canary 29 Posted June 3, 2012 Hughton for me at the moment..Holloway 2nd choice.Quick look at the stats for Hughton:55.71% win ratio at Newcastle41.94% win ration at B''hamStormed the Championship with Newcastle before being sacked mid-season in December in the Prem whilst in a respectable 11th position, which brought outrage from fans, players and media alike. Praised for his dignity, loyalty and level-headedness in pressure situations. Worked his way up and has coaching, assistant manager (Spurs) and manager experience of Prem. Nolan, Sol Campbell and others praised how he brought the team together and kept that unity and confidence going whilst in charge. Some of the players brought in under his reign at Newcastle (and some who are still key players):DANNY SIMPSONPETER LOVENKRANDSMIKE WILLIAMSONLEON BESTSOL CAMPBELLDAN GOSLINGJAMES PERCHCHEICK TIOTÉHATEM BEN ARFANotable wins in Prem:6-0 AGAINST VILLA ;)5-1 against Sunderland1-0 away at ArsenalThat''s my choice at present anyway. Whoever the club appoints I''ll be behind them 100% and looking forward to the transfer window and next season!:)Oh and I believe Hughton was interviewed for West Brom not long ago, but wanted his own backroom staff (which most managers do these days) and this caused some problems hence not going for the job in the end
