zemas tendon 0 Posted May 19, 2012 He would never have done what Holt has...... Oh Huckerby
grantroederdisaster 0 Posted May 19, 2012 Huckerby situation while at Norwich was completely different to Holts. Hucks had been to bigger clubs for big fees and had already made a lot of money and wanted to be settled at a club that areciated him. Holt has for the most part of his career been a lower League/non League journeyman and wouldn''t have earned nowhere near as much money as Hucks did! Anyway before we know the truth, its all speculation!

Huckerby, now there was a player who knew the concept of loyalty!!!!
Badger 2,745 Posted May 19, 2012 I completely agree with grant.......r. Holt will have been on relatively low pay for most of his career: now, according to reports, he is on £16,000 per week. Now whilst this may seem a lot to us, he will only earn it for a couple more years. He might finish his career with a few hundred grand in the bank, but it would still mean that his "second career" was very important. If he were to move on to say, 40 or 50,000 per week at another club, which is quite plausible, together with a decent signing on fee, his family''s future would be secured for ever. The fact that he is 31 and has spent most of his career at lower levels is crucial to this. Personally, I would advise him to seek such a move if he could, much as I would regret it as a City fan.
grantroederdisaster 0 Posted May 19, 2012 If you was offered double your existing salary at another workplace doing the same thing you''ve been doing and it was guaranteed then you''d do it! Professional footballers and fans are two totally different entities which you don''t seem to grasp. A proper football fan will follow their team for life while for a pro footballer its a job and a short term job at that so they have to get as much as they can while they can! In Dubious Battle 0 Posted May 19, 2012 £16,000 a week not enough??? Pure greed if thats the case!

Huckerby, now there was a player who knew the concept of loyalty!!!![/quote]No it''s not! A man''s got to look out for himself and his family, Holt''s stock has never been higher this is probably his only chance to force the club to increase his wage. Holt has never played football to anywhere near this level before, he''s not loaded, he needs to think about his future and how he''s going to support his family when he retires in, what, 4 years max? Huckerby by this point in his career had earned multi-million pound transfers, he''d never played below the championship before! He''d always received a decent wage and when he did eventually leave (not his choice obviously) he had a final payday in San Jose!Don''t begrudge the man for trying to get the club to increase his wage. Hell of a gamble though, they might just cut him loose.
Fromage Frais 14 Posted May 19, 2012 +1To billionaires footballers are toys on peanuts. To fans they are paid more beyond their wildest dreams.forget the money if you as good as guy x you want the same as him.Even if its principleFans demand loyalty but they are as fickle

Would YOU???people are too judgementalBut yes - Hux (and drury) are 100% different from any other "legend" from the last 10 years (Malky, Iwan etc all played the same I want to leave for selfish reasons cacrds) in the level of commitment the club got from them...
