SwindonCanary 457 Posted December 22, 2011 Just looking at the ticketing section of the official site and whilst the Fulham match is almost sold out (mostly restricted view that''s left) The FA Cup tie against Burnley a week later has hardly sold at all. I know our record in cup competitions has not been that good, over the last few years, but I find it amazing that every Premiership match is a complete sell out yet an FA Cup fixture will play to an almost empty Carrow Road. Gingerpele 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Norwich 1-4 MK Dons. But i''m going to the Burnley match anyway :P
Mungo Bumpkin 0 Posted December 22, 2011 So the cup game should be the answer to the prayers of the Jonny-come-lately armchair fans bemoaning the lack of opportunity to watch "their team". As it happens, most of the afore-mentioned only really want to see the "Big Team" opposition and will give this game a miss.Mungo
jb 0 Posted December 22, 2011 I''m staying away as a response to the less-than-half-arsed effort put in at the MK Dons game - i''d much rather have spent £10 watching the youth team get beaten 4-0 whilst actually seeming to give a toss. I''ll be going to the FA Youth Cup tie against Chelsea instead.
"""""""""Ben """"""""""" 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Will support the team no matter what. So i''ll be there. And it was 4-0 Gingerpele ;) haha
Gingerpele 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Must have imagined a goal to make the game more bearable :P
Mungo Bumpkin 0 Posted December 22, 2011 So JB, I''m assuming you are one of those who didn''t renew rtheir season ticket when were relegated to Divvy 3as a mark of protest against something or other.I''ll put a question to you - if we were playing Man Utd at home in the third round would you still be boycotting the game? Nope? Thought not!Mungo

jb 0 Posted December 22, 2011 No mungo, i renewed my ST in League1, and gave up my rebate. i don''t see the relevance - but well done for trying to turn this thread into yet another inter-poster battle. Am I the only one getting sick of every thread turning into name-calling? Maybe there should be a sub-forum called ''5-year-olds speak out! (O/T)'' or something...and of course i''m perfectly happy for PL to prioritise the league (i''d be disappointed if he didn''t) - but the team had clearly been sent out against MK dons with instructions to take it easy - i think charging £10 for that was a bit of a cheek. As i said, if the youth team had gone out there and been beaten by the same scoreline having given it a real go i''d have been fine with it.I''m just not prepared to spend £15 on a game where the team aren''t really trying to win, which may or may not be the case against Burnley... if PL puts out a team that goes for it (whether that''s the first XI, fringe players or youth team players) and we get through to the 4th round I''ll be there whoever we play. jb 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Oh, and in answer to your question Mungo - no, i wouldn''t be going if we were playing Man U. I''d made my decision long before the 3rd round draw was made.

grantroederdisaster 0 Posted December 22, 2011 I''m not surprised interest is low for the Burnley cup game given our woeful cup record in recent years plus our poor atitiude towards cup games which was fully evident in the MK Franchisers game! While I fully agree and understand the club prioritising League over cup, a good cup run would increase confidence in the team and would bring in much needed funds and its not impossible for a club of our size if we got the luck of the draw to actually get in the final! Wings of a Sparrow 1,708 Posted December 23, 2011 Very, very sad. FA Cup 3rd round day used to be the most eagerly anticipated day in the football calendar. Bar none.

Shaun Tilly Lace 0 Posted December 23, 2011 Unfortunately the good old FA Cup seems to have lost a lot of its "magic". The Premiership and Champions League are the be-all and end-all now.
