BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted August 25, 2011 If so, and one sicerely hopes so, he/she should be able to explain the MK Dons performance to Lambert who is quoted by the BBC as saying ''........but I can''t put my finger on it''. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14645897.stm There is a bunch of players coming off a massive, massive high to whom it is fast sinking in that they will either be marginal squad players or virtually surplus to requirements. How they react to their new reality will determine their futures - here or elsewhere. There can be no room for sulkers hanging around infecting the esprit de corps. Most will get over it and buckle down but some may not, and therein lies a danger. One assumes that there is a qualified and able sports psychologist, available who will help these players work it through. There''s no point in saying well they''re professionals, highly paid etc blah, blah....and they must just on with it. OTBC

Mister Chops 7 Posted August 25, 2011 I think Bly''s point is reasonable, though for all the players and not just the squad players. Sport, especially at the highest level, is about gaining any edge you can and it''s for clubs like ours, who have to keep punching above our weight, to look at these options as potential enhancements. As an example, I note the England cricket team had their player''s sweat analysed and assigned Alistair Cook as designated ball-shiner as his sweat has the lowest salt content. This may be on the anal side of anally retentive, but if it gives the 0.1% to turn a draw into a win, why not? You have to give yourself as much chance as possible to succeed, and mental focus/strength is every bit as important as physical. Witness Hoolahan under Roeder & Gunn compared to Lambert as an example of how the mind can rule the body.Look at me not being sarcastic for once, heavens above. InLambertWeTrust! 0 Posted August 25, 2011 Lambert''s never going to get us promoted to the Premiership if we lose 4-0 to the likes of the MK Dons [:''(]
alysha 0 Posted August 25, 2011 The clubs has Sports Analysists even in the different Academy age groups, so I think it''s highly likely they will have a Sports Psychologist for the first team.
Norfolk Mustard 106 Posted August 25, 2011 Yes, NCFC does have access to a Sports Psychologist - he is a personal friend and colleague of mine. I will be speaking with him first thing tomorrow morning...
