Barry Fry at Carrow Road as we speak...
David McNally - "These are the facts and it''s important for our supporters to know what''s happened given there has been plenty of incorrect and ultimately unhelpful speculation in the media on this matter." "
So basically it reads DD''s ''ultimately unhelpful'' involvement in all this changed things... Key word being ''ultimately''.

Very good move by NCFC.

If McNally had rolled over and given in to Barry Fry, then every club would be trying it in the summer.

If this then ends up unsettling the player and making a transfer go through in a week. Then more bonus for Norwich, but obviously if we''re a premiership side and more spending power. We don''t want everyone thinking they can walk over us.

Promotion is worth much more to Peterborough than £1.5m plus possible add-ons. They have a much better chance of winning promotion with Mackail-Smith in their side, and they can then sell him in the summer for a similar deal. Makes sense what they, and us, are doing, although I''m disappointed an agreement couldn''t be reached.

But you dont know who they have lined up to replace M-S?  May be that div 1 goal machine Jackson? A part exchnage may suit both clubs and both players?

They don''t have to have someone lined up yet...if they go up it''ll be worth much more to them because they kept hold of M-S. They will have the money from his sale plus the promotion money. If they don''t go up, they can sell him in the summer for the same amount they are asking now.

Maybe Barry Fry just popped into Carra to see if his nephew Stephen was about.....and have a little chat over a coke and rather than drop him a line?

Diet of course......

No i think he has a year left but they have said he can leave as he has said he wont be signing another contract. Do you really think they would yurn down £2.5 million if he was walking for nothing in a couple of months time .

Why would it be the same amount as now? Do you really think we and other clubs would be so desperate in the summer?

Somebody a few years back, paid over the odds for Akinbiyi in a similar situation.  Come the summer the insurance premium is not so expensive.

If it is true then it blows a massive hole in the old tosh being spouted on here by some of the less brighter amongst us twho have squeaked '' ''P''boro have us over a barrel'', we are the weaker side in the deal'' , it is a win win situation'' etc

P''boro have pretty much shown their hand. For some reason they need, or have, to sell. Any movement in fees will I would suggest be on their part.

Talks would have been ongoing with CMS''s agent way before all this was made public. City would know what release clauses CMS had and so would know what level to pitch an offer at. I suggest P''boro have tried to pull in some more money by trying to up the add ons. City will know that P''boro are pretty much boxed in and can sit and wait.

If by any chance the requirement to sell is not a contractual obligation as I believe most likely then the only other feasible explanation would have to be money. With a good chance of automatic promotion, if not odds on a play off place, losing you top striker at this stage does not make much sense.. Promotion guarantees them an extra £2.75m TV money plus all the rest in increased sales etc. There would have to be a very pressing need for money which would not have suddenly arisen. Otherwise they would have cashed in during January. So can it be money. surely any creditors would hold off for a couple of months.

However ''if'' Fry was at Carrow Road today then it does point to who is really calling the shots, whose fingers do the snapping and who comes running.

Another interesting week ahead.
