Player Holidays

Does anyone remember in the Grant/Roeder/Doncaster years how it was impossible to sign players at this time of the year because all potential players and agents were on holiday? Clearly times have changed and players no longer take summer holidays. Or is it that we just used to be fobbed off with b-sht excuses?

I''d say agents do most of the work now and just call them up to advise them what they should do for them.
