No team plays well every game and our below par performance today coincided with an even worse one from the ref!

Hopefully we''ll get going again on Tuesday!
[Y] the ref was just aweful today, i still cannot understand why he sent rusty off[:^)]

Indeed and it does Wiz, I know nobody likes to lose but Mr Lambert strikes me as the type of lad that really hates to lose so I fully expect a bit of a revamp of the line up and maybe the formation, so a good ass kicking of Southend should be on the cards fingers crossed.

I''ll reserve judgement on that till I see it but it did look very harsh!

What I can''t understand is why the ref let Southamptons 1st goal stand when Nelson was blatantly pushed?

I agree totally we were poor but I can''t accept losing in the manner in which we did today cause the ref let us down badly with 2 awful decisions that were very costly!

Win some lose some. Next free games (Southend H, Oldham A and Yeovil H) are all very winable and if we win those we put ourselves in a very good position to get promoted

Hey 1st Wiz, I was texting my friend who is a pseudo-NCFC fan, and I started referring to Southampton as Sh!tHappens. The title of your post caught my eye because of that.

Over the decades, for a team not that dissimalar to us (as fas as I know) in terms of size, local support potential, stadium capacity and money, we SHOULD have a fairly even record vs them, but it seems were rarely rise to the occasion and actually beat them. Lots of draws and plenty of losses, but not a lot of victories, convincing or otherwise.
The Saints could have had four or five......Poor display all round from NCFC....and that includes the mute support.
Which just confims that shit happens.

When Worthy took us up, Bradford beat us at home, ergo.....Sh*t Happens!

It was a poor performance on the back of several poor performances.

We have got away with it before because the opposition was even poorer.

Milwall better, and Saints were an even better team. Hence we lost and could have been badly beaten.

They need a shake up (I trust Lambert to do that) or we will struggle and fail in the "play offs"

If that happens the repurcussions for the club will not be worth thinking about.

Still Tuesday against a very poor Sarfend team should get us back to scoring and winning.

Absolutely correct. Yesterday was the day our luck finally ran out. We need players to stand up and be counted, but I''m sure Lambert will ensure that that happens. As Mello says, they could easily have had at least three more.

BTW Butler has your recent quiet spell been because you''ve been playing golf with those new Tiger Woods tees?[;)]

I saw the Russell incident and its obvious from the TV pictures that Russell didn''t see the Southampton player coming in on his blind side and the incident was a free kick to Southampton at the most!

Hopefully yesterdays 2 bad decisions - allowing the 1st goals and Russells sending off will be cancelled out by some dodgy decisions in our favour in the weeks to come!

Russells sending off has got to be appealled but the big thing in that is will the Ref be big enough to admit he made a mistake?

Correct, thouroughly agree with you, we have been riding our luck for  a while and have got away with it because most of  the opposition has been cr@p. My view is  we should have invested more in the team durinng January and bought players to enable Lambert to change things when it became necessary,  as it inevitably would, and start development of a squad for next season.  One of my big concerns is that the general view seems to be this was a bad day at the office, the truth is  we  have been poor for some time!

seems to me our players seem to have more fight about them when the go down 1-0 .

the start of the second half showed this , after rustys red card (that was not in my eyes a sending off) ... we had a uphill fight with 10 men .

bad day at the office ,lets face it leeds charlton ,colchester have had much worse.

i would rather have citys form over the last 5 or 6 games than anyone else in that division ,we have had our best run of form for years .

its a blip ,nothing more our team took a beating 7-1 and went on to put together a run any team could be proud off .

we will be okay ,lambert will swap thins if he needs too ,we have lost our first home game for ages ..so what .

leeds got lucky to get a draw at home to brighton .....thats football .

we must move on and grab another 3 points at the next chance .

Are you seriously blaming defeat on the ref''s one bad decision? Southampton were all over us and should''ve had the game wrapped up long before Russel''s departure - how many times did they hit the woodwork? We''ve been getting ref''s decisions and riding our luck since giving Colchester a deserved hiding, so people who are coming to the conclusion that yesterday''s result was a ''blip'' need to think again. Just two weeks ago we lost to Millwall and last week witnessed us getting a huge chunk of lady luck by taking all three points from the Brighton fixture. So that''s three extremely fortunate points from a possible nine.A ''blip'' is a brief departure from the normal, not six games sunshine.

going down to ten men just after half time clearly did not help us . norwich started getting back into the game same as they did against brighton .

no team is going to play everyone off the park week in and week out . 1-0 down and winning 2-1 shows charactor ,something clearly we have been lacking in previous seasons .

im sure if we did not go down to 10 men ,our tactics would have been different ,considering southampton had the better of midfield having a midfielder sent off completely tunrned the game sour for us .

leeds only managed a draw against brighton at home .. we play poor and get a result at brighton .

we will bounce back from this ,we have the players to do it .
