KOL, I''m just as upset as you about Makay, but I think if you looked at newly promoted clubs I think you would find the same sort of clearout as NCFC have done ,and as for being a selling club, well as much as I  have been an admirer of Malky you can hardly say we''re selling off the family jewels and hopefully the fee and wage savings are there to finance a loan or out of contract player only time will tell.

For Christ Sake King OF COURSE we''re a selling club!  We''ve only been in the Premiership a matter of weeks!  IMO there are only about 3 clubs in England who AREN''T a selling club!

How can you say that we have "kicked out" Mackay?  Just because we have accepted a bid doesn''t mean to say that we actively went looking to sell him.  We don''t know that it wasn''t Mackay himself who asked to leave.

There is no point in keeping players on our books and use our precious resources if 1) They don''t want to be here or 2) The club doesn''t think they are up to it.  I know it''s very sad that one of our city heros could well be leaving, but thats football.  I''m sure Malky, although disappointed to leave, would rather play regular first team football at the upper end of Div 1 than rot in the reserves for us.

As for Greeno I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that he will leave, and I won''t begrudge the club or the player one bit.  We have one of the brightest young prospects in the country who is also in the England squad.  He will want to further his career and who can blame him.  The club though have bought to excellent goalkeepers for cover when Greeno does go.  We won''t be left high and dry.

i dont think you will see anyone else leaving carra because we have a smaller squad now than we had when we were in the nationwide!

both palace and the baggies have 32 in their pool while we are down to a miserly 24

still its quality not quantity that matters

just a bit worried that the spirit and togetherness of last season will start to break up . it took 3 years for the players to get to that stage and we now have so many new faces it could disappear if things start to go wrong on the pitch .

Wise observation Yoda - it''ll help when this constant run of Internationals gets out of the way and the squad can get a 4 or 5 week routine of togetherness going. I keep saying it but October is the key month!

Let''s not get too worked up about this and rewind to a few weeks, when we were all considering possible new signings. Many here expressed concerns about our lack of pace at the back, especially with Malky.

Now we''ve received an approach from Coventry, which probably wasn''t  solicited, and there is a wave of discontent that we are considering a sale.

Worthy probably takes the view that Malky probably only has one more season with us and he is unlikely to be offered a new contract next season. This gives the player an opportunity to secure a new contract elsewhere, whilst the club free up some wages and gives us the scope to bring in another player when the transfer window reopens.

The commercial realities of football, I''m afraid.

exactly my concerns yoda

there is more to football than mere technical skills, and we should not forget those who got us there, especially the ones who never got the chance to prove themselves.

Sorry Gazza, have to disagree with you there. As soon as we were promoted, everybody immediately started raising concerns about the centre of defence and the lack of pace, and even then most people were saying that Malky wouldn''t be able to hack it in the Premiership. You only had to look at numerous occassions last year when Malky was caught out by nippy forwards, and the near rugby tackles he had to make to stop them getting through. He has been a loyal stalwart of the club and I wish him all the best for the future, but things move on. He is coming to the end of his career and a move like this will do him the power of good, it will give him first team football and consequently a run in the Scotland team as well.

Also team spirit will be fine as Worthy always brings in players who will fit in with the club, it''s better that Malky were to go, rather than have someone disgruntled in the Reserves possibly making snide remarks and upsetting team spirit that way.

Those of you who have been saying that he was immense against Spain, who exactly were the second choice attackers he played against? If the lights hadn''t gone out I think the Scots would have lost especially when Rual came on.

Football is a fluid business and to keep improving then sacrifices unfortunately have to be made, and Malky is one of them, and to be honest as much as I love him I can see the same thing happening with Holty.

Blimey that was a bit long! Ho hum back to work  :o)

meeky

maybe malky wouldn''t have cut it in the prem, we will never know i guess, but at the risk of sounding a complete woman here, i would have liked him to have been given the chance, after all he was one of the reasons we got there.

Yes, we haven''t got a world beating defence, and we won''t have for some time yet, unless someone with multi-millions invests in our club.

as for holty, i can''t ever see him being dropped!  just opinion you understand - i am not a football manager, nor pretend to be and none of us on this board have a clue what is in nige''s mind, it is just a bit sad that the big man is sold (while away on international duty!)

i agree, as in previous msg with yoda - if we damage the team spirit at this club it will be curtains!!  i cannot emphasise this enough.  I just hope worthy knows what he is doing - and that neither charlton or fleming or docherty get injured, do we have any other serious contenders at centre half?  I think not.

back to work for me too!

It is a shame that Malky is being sold because if anything happens to drury, charlton or Flem the doc will come back into defence this is fine until you realise that he will be missed up front (who else can hold the ball up).so we should have only sold malky if we got a top quality striker in.

But at the end of the day it''s a good move for malky as it keeps him playing regular first team football, which in turn is good for his international career. So all the best malky you will always hold a very special place in all city fans hearts. plus it the first time we''ve actually recieved any money for an out going player since..... my god i can''t remember
