Match Fixing Allegation

Recommended Posts

I was amazed and annoyed  to hear our manager''s comments on Rick Waghorn''s website.

At the moment all this is is an allegation nothing more nothing less, but to criticise the 2 M P ''s for  their action beggars belief.

The trouble with football & footballers is epitomised by this secrecy "lets keep everything in house " attitude. It makes me feel like a mushroom i.e.  keep them in the dark and feed them you know what.

I applaud the M P ''s for their action, too often things are covered up for the "sake of the game" ......absolute rubbish. It is because those in the game want things covered up, no more no less.

The facts in this case as we know them  are ;

1) There was an "unprecedented in ten years"  amount staked on our match at half-time in the asian markets.

2) This was reported to a newspaper and then forwarded to the Football Association.

3) Rumours started to circulate that our game was involved on Monday.

Now to me no case has been proven against us or Derby  nothing like it,  but surely Mr Roeder we the fans deserve to be made aware of the facts as they stand.

Or do we count for nothing.

For GR to claim he is 100% certain it is nothing to do with Norwich must mean he is party to some information that it is Derby......... or is he just talking rubbish.?

The facts are as follows:1) Something was reported to the papers, but it is not a FACT that there was any irregular bidding.  Just because it was in the paper and subject to rumour does not make it fact.2) See (1) above3) Rumours that is was the Norwich game started much earlier. In relation to (1), there is a statement on the City website that there is actually no evidence of any irregular bidding (from  two regulating bodies).  This was further stirred up by 2 MPs looking to make themselves famous for 5 minutes by spouting their mouths off on the basis of no FACTS at all.  I''m with he Derby chairman and Roeder on this one.

You are incorrect.  It has been definitely established that there were some betting movements in the Far East which were large enough and unusual enough to warrant further investigation.

You have been deceived by the statement on the City website.  It is pure spin and does not relate in any way to the investigation. The statement is from a European bookmakers organisation and only relates to what happened in Europe.  The irregular betting didn''t happen in Europe and no one has ever suggested that it did.  So this statement is the reddest of red herrings.  It''s irrelevant.  Ignore it.

Bobert, I think it''s more a matter of is it information he has been told about Derby or is it a cover up the club have told him to say... until we get the FA''s report hearing on this situation we can''t help but take nobody''s word for it. Clearly if Norwich were involved they wouldn''t say to the press "yes it was us... but don''t tell the FA"

I like to think we are innocent because I can''t see us being the type of club to do such a thing...

Two articles in today''s Independent may be of interest.

Very much of interest Camul many thanks.

How ironic that Norwich City, among the most parochial and inward looking of clubs, should become embroiled in something of worldwide significance.  There''s a lesson there somewhere.  It could even be good for us.

Since this is a "fact" presumably you have a source for it?

It came from the betting organisation Spreadex.  It circulated on websites before the investigation became public but has now been pulled.
