Well I will always remember when we signed Croft I said he was not very good in fact I said he was next to useless and got shot down in flames by almost every poster on here , couldn''t beat an egg I think was the term I used . Well I still stand by my analyses anyone want to shoot me down now? Oh if you don''t believe me you can always look it up on my posts ...arrdee.

i don''t think croft is that bad. infact for most of last season when he was on the bench when he came on he made a good impact on the game. he''s something we need a little more of .. players who go at defenders. theres players in our squad who deserve more critism than croft.

G R , I think you said it all when you said "When he was on the bench"  you of course remember how much we gave for him ? and you don''t need to use a lot of intelligence when you think the manager that sold him had played against the best right wingers in the world and didn''t rate him , nar nar no I don''t think I need pursue this any further , just look at him play , go on look at him. I''m a bit baffled by those people posting that they''re not sure we need him.  Why wouldn''t we need a talented young midfielder?  While the left of midfield has been strong for some time with Hucks, the right of midfield has been neglected for years, making us very one dimensional (opposition think, shut down the left as there''s little danger from the right).  I like Lee Croft and admire his effort, but as has been mentioned, quality of crosses are poor and crucially, goals scored almost non-existant.

Also, Chadwick is not a right midfielder naturally and will always drift inside.  Therefore, we only have Croft for that position.  Now clearly Glenn doesn''t fancy him, which is one of the reasons we only played one winger so much last season.  Glenn has seen an opportunity to strengthen that position and taken it. The fact Bell can play central midfield is a bonus too.

Does it mean Croft is off?  No, I don''t think so, as we would be back to only one specialist right-midfielder.  Look at the many options on the left now and you see how unbalanced it is with the right.  Well done for addressing the issue Glenn and it will be good to see at least two players battling it out for that position next season.

Always agree with your posts Sig....far too much sense for this board [Y]
Croft was out best player by far saturday according to most who went. 2nd half Watford away was as good a performance as Hucks EVER gave. He keeps his head down trains hard and keeps his mouth shut.Good pro and would be very sorry to see him go.Saw Bell play twice last season he didn''t play wide either time.......
I agree with what you say about Croft and I like a lot about him, except that he can''t seem to keep a cool head in front of goal. In a number of games he was our best player, IMO mainly due to Roeder''s good man-management, but unless he can score goals he''ll have to go.

If you have signed Bell - and the "poised to sign for Norwich" announcement on the Luton Town official site mysteriously disappeared on Friday after a lifespan of 24 hours - you have a midfielder who can play anywhere in midfield.  At (only) Rushden he played left, centre and right.  For Luton he has played at least right and centre I believe.  Provided the skills of the player are up to your level I would think it an advantage for a team to have that flexibility.

I don''t think that Bell is a natural right winger. He will drop inside, a bit like Chadders. Makes the thoughts that GR might play a player behind 1 striker, we have Chadders and Bell to play there. That is if he signs and it is confirmed.

I understand where your coming from. But im trying to get atleast two players who can play in each posistion in our midfield. If the current deal goes threw for bell; he is a versatille midfielder. Who can also play of the front man. The ethic is the more competition for places the harder the players will work, well hopefully. Lee totally understands the posistion we are at in this moment of time. And he understands new signings will have to be made; as he wishes for the team to succed. And on last seasons evedince we weren''t simply good enough. Lee has been working very hard over this summer, and has impressed in pre season. Similarly he played very well at the weekend and was one of our strongest players. However Wes wasn''t playing because of a slight thigh strain .. So how the midfield will balance we aren''t sure. However we can confirm there will be atleast one more addition to the current midfield. And Gow also is looking prominant.

Yes G R , thats fair enough , the signing of Bell can only be a good move and it seems the deal has gone through , it will make for more competition in the midfield section , he could give us something that we have been lacking for a season or two and that is goals from midfield as if you say he can play off the front two , I am getting excited about the coming season .[Y]...arrdee.

Interesting, the Sky report states that (and I quote): "Bell is set to become Norwich''s fifth new signing of the summer following the arrivals of Wes Hoolahan, Sammy Clingan, Dejan Stankovic and Elliot Omozusi."  Wow, we kept the 3rd of those rather quiet, and such a coup - fighting off interest from Liverpool and all!!

...either that or they have made a mistake - the wrong Dejan, methinks!!

More chance of Dijon Mustard!

Also, he''ll be the 6th signing, as we also have Bertrand.

I did notice that, but thought that perhaps he hasn''t actually ''signed'' yet, and it will all be done after the U-19 tournament?  It did raise a slight question in my mind - technically, if we did sign him before this tourney and he gets injured at it, wouldn''t we still have to pay Chelsea for him for the loan period??

As long as you keep your excitment to a reasonable level and don''t expect to much. I think that has been a mistake by Norwich fans in recent years is that you expect to much. Im attempting to reconfigure a side which can challenge for promotion. He doesn''t happen in a toss of a coin .. Things take time and I hope everyone can understand that. We are still in the market for another Centre Back, and Two center forwards. There may still be another addition to midfield, as centrally ideally we need someone who can open defences. Okay Mark and Darrel can do that but thats not there strongest side of there game. If we can get someone with a bit of flair who can really link with the front one or two .. we have a good chance of doing well. I am quite happy with how things have gone this summer, signings have come slowly but consistently. This will not stop until the deadline. Hopefully I can bring all you Norwich fans what you deserve, Success.
croft is one player who gives his all for the club, skillful, just misses the end product but I''m sure he''s working on that. Bell would be a waste of money with crofty and chads here already.
plus u seen semmy and crofty linking up? that looks threatening
Bell is a left sided or central midfield player.

Well if this is true then I am pleased, been a long time coming, and a welcome addition to the squad.  Competition for places is a good thing IMHO.
