Beaker

Norwich on football manager 2008

Recommended Posts

Beaker is back after a breif spell in the nick.

Just won promotion with norwich on fm2008 in the play off final 3-1 vs Wolves!! GREAT RESULT!!, i sold the whole team at the start of the game apart from Marshall, Drury and Huckerby. Found some right gems of players (Balas Dszusak, Charles Andre Doudin, Bogdan Stancu, Nengomashe, Pablo Pitatti, Oscar Sanchez, Bax, Jukka Letheveen  (or something like that).

Having tried with norwich numerous times on fm08 before to get them promoted to no avail i felt it nessacary to clear out the whole club and start afresh - much like roeder this summer!!

Anyone else got any FM Norwich stories/players?

You managed to sell Docs?? I had to release him after I got zero offers when I tried to release him on a free. Cost me £400k or something ridiculous! I actually had to pay to get rid of him.

How much money has the board given you? See how much Lulinha is. He wont be cheap but he will bag you 20+ goals in the top flight. [:D]

A few games back was manager at Norwich (at start) and 1st season started well then we slumped heavily and only just stayed up. 2nd season I made some key signings (such as Rhys Murphy, Jack Cork and Mark Randall on loan) and we got to the playoff final, having only just missed out on 2nd. Brushed aside some side in the PO Semi''s and then it was the final vs Sheffield United (who were strangely managed by Roberto Martinez [:S]). They scored early through Rob Hulse, we equalized through Hucks to send it to extra time. Then we got the lead in the 1 half of E.T through Russell I think, then with 1 minute to go they equalized though Hulse (again!). With seconds remaning before penaltys, our player Andrejs Rubins (immense player at Championship level!) ran down the pitch on his own and slotted in a shot past Kenny from 40 yards!!Never celebrated quite like it since!

I love being Wolves..........and getting them relegated! Is it possible for a team to go bankrupt and fold on the game??

Btw I recommend signing Dorin Goian for the Premiership [:)] Did the same when I got Norwich promoted and he was abseloutely fantastic in defence, Avg rating of 7.28 something and Norwich finished 3rd from bottom! (I left to take charge of Man City)

After 4 seasons with Norwich, Nott Forest were facing relegation mid-way through the 5th season, and i decided to leave Norwich in the premiership for Nott Forest (im not sure why [:S]), and i managed to take them from 20th to 4th before the end of the season, where i won the play-offs and got promoted to championship. First season in championship finished 8th, second seasons finished 2nd, and was promoted to Premiership. I''m in my first premiership season and im comfortable mid-table =].
*Pablo Piatti
I absolutely LOVE Pablo Piatti! What a player! But if you don''t go up in the first season you''ll struggle to keep hold off him, that bloody Munby will go behind your back and accept an offer that is "too good to turn down"!

Now in my fourth season and am 9th in the prem league with 12 games gone and a team full of internationals including Theo Walcott and James Milner and bought Robert Green back...... and basically im never going down again!, my ground holds 30000 and i have a top class youth academy.... so all good!
LOL...there are some classic team talks that are so predictable, like ''show encouragement to the team'' when 1-0 up, or the dreaded ''dont let your performance drop!'' a sure fire way to lose...i actually prefer going into half time losing 1-0, as you often get a result as when your 2-0 up whatever you say you know they''re gonna score, haha

Are any of you playing the latest patch with all of the final loans in and grants f**k ups gone?

Had Anichebi on loan from Everton and won me the league first season, now in my 4th season and pushing for europe. lots of average players in the first edition are now better post patch and visa versa, got joe hart in goal who cost me 12.5 mil and also paid 10ml for Stancu.

I''ve got my favourites who I have bought more than once, Charles-Andre Doudin is a bargain, striker, got him for £275''000 from a French side, La Chaux-de-Fonds, but Munby saw the £ signs and off he went after one and a half seasons to Derby for £3.3 Million.

Note that people have gone for Gabriel Torje on the right, bargan RM, £450k, but Munby (again) couldn''t resist £3.9 Million from Rangers.

I had previously sold Marshall to Coventry (£1.7 Million) and Brellier to Reading (£2.1 Million and he is awesome at CM2008!) to keep the board happy, but no, along came the offer for Torje and off he want as well.

Excellent keeper in Ben Amos, free from Man Utd. Scott Fox, another good keeper, cheap (as little as £5k) from Celtic but he sulks easily and has asked for a move, not bothered, Amos is better keeper. Laszlo Sepsi is a must purchase for left back, indeed, lots of bargains in Romania, Marius Rotariu is a great centre back, can get him for abouyt £230k but he''s expensive, on £8k a week plus lots of add ons. Has barely played 20 games for us and, already, with reference to him "...Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez has been spotted in the stands today..." so no doubt Munby will sell him for me soon. Another decent Romanian is Alexandra Iacob, DM, but has great passing and creative stats. He''s at Steau Bucharest. The final good -and initially cheap-Romania is Liviu Ganea, striker, £50k from Dinamo Bucharest, sold to Newcastle for £3 Million plus.

Three Finns worth a go are Patrik Lomski,Valeri Minkenen & especially Kaspar Hamalainen. Latter can play anywhere in midfield, can get him for peanuts and his value rockets up very quickly.

Harry Forrester can be got on a free from Villa, one for the future, another to get in and nurture is Kieran Agard, got him for £850k from Everton, just bringing him along in reserves at the moment, but he has got 20 goals in 12 (5) appearences, and we are walking the Reserve League (though my Assistant, Clive Allen runs the team) so loathe to give him too many 1st team games.

Finally-and I don''t spend all my time playing this-got one Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal on a free, he''s doing OK.  As is Chedwyn, who you can get quite cheaply.

Don''t recommend Nigel Quasie though, of this world in reserves, but struggles in 1st team and on a big salary, have tried to get him off loaded for £0 but clubs can''t afford him.
