Crafty Canary 556 Posted May 28, 2008 I may be an old cynic but when the club start announcing the players they are going for (green light for Blackpool pair) I immediately write those players off as likely signings. Why tell all and sundry who you are after? As a sop to the fans to keep them happy, that''s who. The real business is done with the agents and clubs behind closed doors. Why would Hoolihan come here? Certainly not for making progress in his career.

Jonny 5 0 Posted May 28, 2008 I would say all the stories about transfers, especially ones mentioning specific players, have origniated either from other clubs i.e. Bell or just from the imagination of jurnos. A bunch of the stories involve quotes from Glenn Roeder which are several months old at least i.e. Sibierski (sp) and Hoolahan or are just rehashes of our January transfers targets i.e Patterson, Taylor etc. and it''s pretty easy for lazy jurnos to pick up on these stories, especially as Norwich need players in just about every position. In the words of Public Enemy "Don''t believe the hype!!" O.T.B.C 1 Posted May 28, 2008 I don''t think either GR or the club will tell you or I what players they want. We did not know about the loanees we got. Although slightly frustrating not knowing what is going on, it then makes that signing a bit more special. Still like they days when we sign players, regardless of who they are. Branston Pickle 4,169 Posted May 28, 2008 It does certainly seem rather quiet over at FCR (presumably there is plenty going on behind the scenes, if only people packing their desks!), and some of these stories do seem to be rehashing quotes/links from ages ago (eg Sibierski: quoting Roeder''s EEN column from last season; the link with Beckford because we looked at him in Jan). One thing it doesn''t smack of imo is spin from the club. Of course there could well be something in some or all of these rumours, but the pinkun home page has barely mustered a story each day this week so far, so you would imagine the journos are scraping around for things to write about. I''m sure they are as desperate as we all are to be properly linked with - or even better to actually sign - someone!!

I''m just pointing out that when players are named before they are signed they don''t usually actually sign for us. Better to wait for definite news and form a judgement then.BTW, OK for me to express an opinion or are you New labour too?

It''s just to keep us happy, we may as well be told we bid £10m for Ronaldo but Man U rejected it. "Oh look, some ambition" we say and are a bit happier despite the fact nothing has changed.
