Block E Buh 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Martin Allen said he''d have walked to Norwich for the job. He left his holiday early for a second interview. I guess only time will tell if we''d made the right decision. he sounded very keen.
psychedeliasmith 0 Posted October 31, 2007 I really don''t know if Allen would have been the right choice for our football club. We need a calming influence at the moment as the players rae obviously lacking in confidence after a year of slaggigs from Grant.Anyway, what is really so good about Martin Allen. If not for a few wins in the FA Cup no one would be talking about him. It''s only because Brentford won the odd FA Cup game - thus giving him media exposure on BBC - that he has a higher profile than most lower league managers. Let''s not forget that he failed in the play offs on more than one occassion and, worst of all, MK Dons were the only relegated team to fail to win promotion from League Two last season despite having a far bigger budget than Swindon, Hartlepool and Walsall... Block E Buh 0 Posted October 31, 2007 That''s very true psychedeliasmith, at least Roeder has managed at the top level.

Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted October 31, 2007 http://www.soccerbase.com/managers2.sd?managerid=1897Great record at other clubs, but certainly not the type of manager our dour Board would hire.
blahblahblah 2 Posted October 31, 2007
Martin Allen said he''d have walked to Norwich for the job.
I would have thought that after the 2 scotsmen had left, the last thing we''d need is someone willing to walk 500 miles for the job.Ah ha ha, ah ha ha, aaaaaah ha.
what the expectation not to be a total utter buffoon like Grant and Duffy? Having seen Roeders failure at all his previous clubs I would have given the job to Martin Allen. having said that I hope I am proved very wrong and Roeder becomes a legend for us. Mook 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Allen is a shouter, a pointer and an old-school, sheepskin-coat manager. Just check with Brentford fans about how they feel about Martin Allen - half of one side of my family are Brentford through and through, and they can''t stand him! As my login causes problems [ :o) ] 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Far be it for me to disagree with Roger Munby or dave stringer but both are quoted as aying that a major factor in appointing Roeder was the keenness he had in accepting the job.I hope HE came back at least three days earlier from a holiday and crawled here.
