[:^)] [;)]If so, he didn''t get much response on this board yet [:O]The article begs the question.... Is Doherty keeping the position warm for a new signing or is he really an important part of Peter Grants plans? [*]I know loads on here don''t rate ''The Doc'' so what do you make of it?Does Grant see something in Doherty that a lot of fans don''t see, does he really need to see the doc? I believe that central defence needs strengthening for cover but I also believe any 2 from Doherty, Dublin and Shackell are good enough.
Cobain18 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Maybe Grant just thinks that Doherty needs the match fitness more than anybody else. If you look at the list would you think that the first 11 there will get in the team, hughes is quite high up the list for example, but we all know that he will just be a back up for otsemobor this season. I think that Chris Lakey probably just didn''t have anything else to write about that day so he made a story cleverly using statistics. Statistics can be used in whichever way you want but do not in this case necessarily prove anything!
macdougalls perm 0 Posted August 9, 2007 It is possible that he sees the defensive weakness as being primarily an issue of a lack of cover from our p*ss poor central midfield of recent times. If so, he is possibly right but I would still feel a lot happier with a significant signing in CD.
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted August 9, 2007 He is obviously a major part of Peter Grants plans along with Hughes. Granht does not seem the sharpest knife. IMO the goals will continue to be leaked, we will soon find out. Hopefully Doc will recapture his form of the early part of our first season back in the championship, rather than the past year and a half or the prem.... Having said that the goals have flooded in consistently be it Green or Gallacher behind him and shacks.

Unlucky Fried Kitten 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Does Grant need the Doc? I didn''t realise that he was one of the ones poisoned by Delia''s barbecue.
Gingerpele 0 Posted August 9, 2007 why is the URL so long? it needs to be shorter whoever sets itbut i think if doc is fit he can be very good

Syteanric 1 Posted August 9, 2007 the Doc has played in every pre season game so far... and with us linked with Darren Carter i think that Grant is going to with shacks and the Donkey into next season.... with Spillane and one of the kids as cover.jas :)
LORD FOXY LOWE 0 Posted August 9, 2007 What the story fails to highlight is that Doherty, Shackell and Drury all topped the minutes on pitch stats because we don''t have any experienced players to cover those positions! We really need to get someone in who can cover left back and left side centre back.
Cluck 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Mmmmm.....not so sure about a doc.....but a vet could come in handy for all of those donkeys he''s hired....not to mention a potential outbreak of foot in mouth amongst the flock.......It could happen..........
